[center]All guts, all gory! Entertainment Weekly takes you
behind the scenes of the series that lives to shock. In this
week’s cover story on the pulse-pounding return of The Walking
Dead, we’ll take a deep dive into the jaw-dropping twists,
scripts that made the cast physically ill, and a new villain
who’s more terrifying than any zombie. To buy all six
collectible covers, head here – and subscribe now for the

With apologies to the Incredible Hulk, you wouldn’t like Daryl
Dixon when he’s angry. And according to the man who plays him,
that is exactly what we are about to see. In the wake of having
his motorcycle and crossbow stolen and now being told that all
his property belongs to Negan, Daryl will be in a bit of a mood
when The Walking Dead returns on Feb. 14, says Norman Reedus. We
spoke with the actor about that and what else to expect in the
second half of season 6.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: How would you describe the arc or the tone
of what we’re going to see in the back half coming up?
NORMAN REEDUS: There’s so much chaos happening in the second
half. As far as Daryl is concerned, he is pissed off. He’s had
his stuff taken from him. He put himself out there and trusted
some people, and it did backfire on him, and I think he comes
back super pissed off. There’s a lot of that element for me. I
mean, I know you know the bad guys that are coming. It’s been
announced and well displayed for everyone to see, but there’s
definite surprises coming with all of that, and you know, it’s
battle time.
Yeah, so we saw that prologue scene of Daryl out in the road,
and he’s meeting Negan’s group and they’re saying, “Hey, you’re
stuff belongs to Negan now.” Coming right off already having his
bike and his crossbow stolen, what’s Daryl’s reaction going to
be to that?
He takes it really personally. These are people that he’s trying
to protect. And he’s trying to protect himself. I feel like
there’s a lot of vengeance happening in the second half, and a
lot of payback on Daryl’s mind. He’s headstrong now, and he’s
kind of turning into the same sort of aggressive person he was
in the first part of the show, going back to his roots. I think
he would definitely be making Merle proud right now
That’s interesting too, because we’ve seen Daryl come out of his
shell and go and have the pasta dinner with Aaron and become
more open to meeting new people. And then it sort of bit him in
the ass when he went back to help that couple in episode 606. So
how does that incident impact his feelings about being a
recruiter and bringing people in?
He gave it a chance. He was kind of against it in the beginning
and Rick kind of talked him into it, and then Rick tried to talk
him out of it, and he tried to talk Rick back into it again, and
I feel like he had a little bit of hope. I don’t know that he
was full blown “I want to make this work and have this be my
job.” I think he didn’t really fit in at Alexandria, and now
that Alexandria is what it is, we’re back out to the wild again.
He wanted to fit in, and he wanted to be part of this group, and
he wanted to do the right thing, but he’s still very hesitant
about it, and I think now it’s kind of like, “See, I told you
so,” type of situation, and he’s definitely upset.

Sounds like Daryl is going back to his season 1 roots? Maybe
this is why he and Rick get in that big fight later on.

I guess somebody tells Daryl that Morgan beat Carol.
I can definitely see Rick trying to excuse Morgan's actions, and
Daryl goes into Redneck mode. ;D

I think you might be right on the money with that possibility.
And that would definitely cause a fight between them because
Rick is protective of Morgan, cause Morgan saved his life, just
the same as Daryl is protective of Carol.
Now I'm anxious for this fight, just to see how it plays out.
