Why do you think Michonne didn't kill David?

When they were running from the herd, they all had to climb over
that fence but David didn't make it as he was swarmed and
dropped his letter to Betsy in the process.
Michonne had written on her arm that she promised he would make
it but he obviously didn't. So I'm surprised she didn't impale
him with her sword so he wouldn't come back as a walker. It just
seemed like the kind of thing she would do.

Honestly, in the desperation to get out of a town swarming with
walkers, it may not have crossed Michonne's mind to put David
       down.

I know Scott was injured from that bullet wound in his leg and
needed help, so that's probably where her mind was at the time.
But it seemed like the writers planned it that way so when
Glenn's survival was revealed he'd be the one to find David as a
walker and his letter to Betsy.
