I apologize for the lack of updates, I'm working on something I
promise. I also had a part ready to go but in the end it just
sounded like Gimple rated crap so I trashed it and started over.

That night Rick had fallen asleep in the chair at Carl's
bedside. He wasn't the least bit comfortable but he didn't care
either. There were even a few times he woke up after dreaming
that Carl was back to his old self again, only to come back to
       the nightmare of reality.
Rick rubbed his eyes now as he straightened himself up in the
chair. His back was aching now but it was a numb pain compared
to the sorrow he felt inside. He looked up at the ceiling,
wondering if there was a heaven and if Lori was watching over
him and Carl. It had been a while since he last thought about
her or even the possibility of a heaven at all. God seemed to
have abandoned all of them now. The world belonged to the dead.
Meanwhile outside the infirmary, Michonne sat alone on the
porch. She wanted to be there for Rick but she knew he needed
some space right now. Deep inside she couldn't deny her love for
him nor the longing to hold him close to her. Truth be told she
hadn't been able to feel this way about anyone for a long time,
and neither did she think she would again.
Both of them had been through so much together and she
remembered their first encounter back at the prison. Fate
brought them together, it must have. Only she didn't know if
Rick felt the same or if he ever could. She knew he had gotten
close to Jessie shortly before she died but that was it.
Michonne had only gone as far as flirting with Daryl back then
just to realize he wasn't her type, while also picking up on the
feelings he had for Carol. She was his girl even if those two
hadn't even made it official yet. The others knew, they weren't
       blind.
But love was hard to find in this world, and even harder to
keep. People all around them were dying to the point their
losses were beginning to pile up. Michonne still missed Andrea
very much as well as the others they'd lost. She thought about
them everyday and in turn they kept her going. Life was worth
living even after all they had endured. Michonne knew it and
believed. And even now things would change and Carl would wake
up and still be the same young boy she'd come to love as her
own. That was something Michonne had never lost. Her faith.

It's good to see an update on your story, Ricky.
It's good that Rick is reflecting on what's happened to him and
Carl. It's also good that Rick hasn't forgotten Lori, and
wondering if she's in Heaven, watching over him and Carl.
I wouldn't say Michonne flirted with Daryl during their med run,
just that she was beginning to trust the group.

Thank you! And while Michonne was beginning to open up, I would
still say she was playful with Daryl, which is harmless flirting
       IMO.

But that night Michonne wasn't the only one unable to sleep as
Spencer Monroe was wide awake himself standing on the platform
staring straight out into the woods while thinking about his
mother. He knew he was foolish for not putting her down but he
couldn't help himself. He just wasn't ready to yet.
"What are you doing up here?" Rosita suddenly asked as she
       climbed up.
"Can't sleep," Spencer answered. "I thought you were with
       Abraham?"
Rosita smiled playfully. "I was but he fell asleep, so I decided
I would take over for Carol tonight so she could sleep."
"Oh," Spencer sighed staring at the woods around them.
"You miss your mother don't you?" Rosita suddenly asked.
       Spencer nodded. "I do."
Rosita moved over and placed a hand on his shoulder in a
comforting manner and looked him in the eye. "She's in a better
       place now, okay?"
       Spencer nodded. "I know."
"She's with your father and your brother too," she added. "And
I'm sure they're watching over you now."
"Do you really believe that?" Spencer asked her while noting the
look of uncertainty on her face.
       "I do," she nodded.
"Or are you just saying that because you're not the one who's
alone?" He remarked bitterly leaving her speechless.
Rosita frowned as she crossed her arms. "I was only trying to
comfort you," she huffed. "But if you don't want me to, that's
fine. I'll just go back to Abraham." She quickly whirled around
       and started climbing back down.
"I'm sorry," he suddenly called after her. "I guess I just need
       sometime alone."
"I'll say," Rosita remarked as she walked off leaving him all
       alone once again.
In the meantime Rick suddenly woke up and began rubbings his
eyes when he suddenly noticed Carl sitting up in bed staring
       back at him.
"Where am I?" Carl asked. "What happened? Why can't I see?"
"Carl?" Rick's eyes began to tear up.
"I can't see, dad!" Carl panicked as he reached up with one hand
and began ripping the bandages off his face revealing a gushing
hole. "I can't see!" Carl cried out again as blood began
spurting out of the wound and spraying a horrified Rick in the
       process. "Dad?"
Rick's eyes suddenly shot open and he quickly sat up. "Carl," he
panted as he cupped a hand over his chest and felt the rapid
beating of his heart while noticing that Carl was still sound
asleep in the bed beside him.
"It was just a dream," Rick sighed lowering his head. "Just a
nightmare." He rubbed his temples and leaned back in the chair
exhaling deeply trying to calm his nerves. What would've Lori
done? He suddenly wondered as he thought about her in that
moment and then looked at his wedding band. She wouldn't leave
his side either, he sighed. So neither am I.

Daryl was completely restless now and rather than just laying in
bed consumed with thoughts he decided to get up and head outside
to the porch for a quick smoke. He figured since it was about
two in the morning everyone else was asleep so they wouldn't
       even bother him.
But once he got outside and realized he was the only one awake,
it suddenly hit him. He didn't want to be alone out here and now
he even wished Carol were there to join him, but he knew she was
struggling with her own issues at the moment. He cared for her
deeply but he didn't think he had it in him to admit it to
himself or her. It was something else he learned from his
brother Merle growing up. Always keep people at a distance,
little brother, he used to say. Cause the moment you start to
care for them, well that's when they'll screw you over. Daryl
       suddenly felt sad inside now.
She wouldn't screw me over, Merle, he thought about Carol as he
puffed on his cigarette. Cause she's been screwed over just as
much as me, hell maybe even more than me. But she knows what its
like. Then he thought about Rick and his episode from yesterday
       when he attacked Daryl.
If anyone is gonna screw me over, then it's Rick. He narrowed
his eyes now while dreading the very idea of having to face him.
Yet still he remembered Glenn's pleas, and how he tried to
remind them they're all in this together and that's where they
need to be. "Together," Daryl scoffed as he stared off into
       space. "Ain't that something?"
Then all of a sudden Daryl spotted Spencer heading towards the
gate and quickly rose up from the steps to watch him. The hell
is he doing? He wondered puffing on the last of his cigarette
before tossing the butt down and then heading in Spencer's
direction while keeping out of sight as he spotted Spencer
opening the gate and heading outside.
What is this son of a bitch doing? Then he noticed the rifle
over Spencer's shoulder. He's got a gun so maybe he saw
something out there? I don't like the guy but I'm not about to
let him die out there either, Daryl huffed as he headed for the
gate and let himself out. He might be Deanna's son but he's
still a pain in the ass.

       Ricky,
It's good to have two new chapters of No Way Out: The Aftermath.
       1. The first chapter started out slow for me because Spencer was
featured, and I hate that weasel. I have to say here that
Gimple's idea of Deanna having turned and stumbling out in the
woods was stupid as hell. The walkers in the house would've
       torn her apart.
Rick's nightmare of Carl tearing off the bandages around his eye
was good. It's great that you had Rick thinking about Lori, and
what she would do in that situation.
       2. Nice Daryl vignette. I would've loved it if Carol was on
the porch waiting for him. :-*
It's also good Daryl's keeping a grudge against Rick for hitting
him. A little friction between those two is something the
       show's always needed.

Thank you, Raps. An updated was definitely needed. And yes I
know spencer is boring as hell, but I figured I'd do something
with him to at least try and make more sense of what happened
       with Deanna.

Daryl quietly followed Spencer into the woods now. It was still
dark out but the moonlight was bright enough that Daryl could
see there weren't many walkers around. Still he pulled out his
knife and readied himself for any surprise ambush as he headed
deeper into the trees only to stop when he spotted Spencer just
standing there staring at nothing like an idiot.
What the hell? Daryl thought as he watched in puzzlement now as
Spencer removed the rifle and set it down on the ground.
Then right before Daryl could blink a walker suddenly came up
behind him snapping snarling which caused Spencer to look in his
       direction.
Daryl quickly stabbed the walker in the head and tossed the body
to the ground when Spencer suddenly asked. "Who's there?"
Shit, Daryl sighed as he stepped out from behind the tree.
"It's me," Daryl answered as he approached him. "What the hell
are you doing out here, Spencer? Tryin to get yourself killed?"
Suddenly another walker emerged from the trees and lunged after
Spencer who unsheathed his blade and attempted to stab it only
to trip and fall bringing the walker down right on his chest as
its jaw continued snapping at his face until Daryl rushed over,
stabbed it in the back of the head and threw it off him.
"Like I said," Daryl huffed angrily. "You tryin to get yourself
       killed out here or what?"
"I needed to be alone," Spencer answered as Daryl helped him up
       off the ground.
"Alone?" Daryl scoffed. "Nah you're out here for another reason,
now what is it? Or do I have to get Rick?"
Spencer sighed as he brushed the dirt off his shirt and pants.
"I thought I saw someone alright? I spotted them near the gate
and I saw them take off running, so I decided to follow them."
Daryl wasn't buying it. He knew Spencer was lying but he didn't
feel like wasting anymore time on him.
"You best get yourself back inside those fences," Daryl ordered.
"I'm gettin real tired of babysittin your ass."
"Then don't?" Spencer shot back. "Nobody asked you to follow me.
       That was on you."
Daryl scowled at him. "Fine. If you wanna die out here like a
damn fool that's on you. But I'm headin back now, so if you're
coming you best come now or not at all."
Spencer could hear the sounds of more walkers approaching now
and decided Daryl was right. "Okay then. I'll come back with
       you."
When the sun finally rose Michonne was sitting on the porch
outside the infirmary. She looked up and gazed at the burning
light while shielding her eyes as the sounds of chirping birds
began to drown out the silence.
All night she had been praying to god or whoever would listen,
praying that Carl would wake up soon. And now as she began to
stand back up and stretch her legs she turned and saw Rick
standing there with a tearful smile across his restless face.
       "He's awake now."
Michonne could hardly believe it nor could she stop herself from
smiling wide as tears filled her eyes and she hurried over to
embrace Rick while burying her face into his shoulder. "When did
it happen?" She looked up at him.
"A little while ago," Rick answered as he wiped the tears from
his eyes. "He said he's been dreaming all this time. He dreamed
about it all, even his mom. And he uh, he even asked for her."
       Michonne frowned.
"He forgot she was gone," Rick began to cry.
"At least he's awake now," Michonne said. "Now why don't you go
and get some rest? You've barely slept at all since it happened.
       You're going to need it."
       Rick nodded. "You're right."
"Now go," Michonne urged him. "I'll look after Carl."

It's great that your back to writing your story, Ricky. ;)
Spencer is obviously out in the woods looking for his mother
Deanna, who died from that walker bite and turned. Not your
fault but it was stupid that walker Deanna was later found
stumbling about in the woods; realistically she would've been
torn apart by the walkers who broke into the house.
I like that Carl was calling out for his mother Lori. I'm
certain he still carries guilt over how he treated her before
she died in the prison. :'(
