Good vignette, Ricky.
Great idea to have Michonne watching over Carl. It just made me
realize how awful that "two month" time jump was at the start of
season 6B. >:(

Thanks! It just made sense for Michonne to be one watching over
him while Rick was away. She loves him like he were her own,
that's for sure <3
And now that I'm writing this fic I can't help but agree that
the two month time jump was awful and there was a lot more they
could've done instead.

"The lemonade is good," Maggie said to Carol as they sat on the
porch together and she chugged her glass down to quench her
thirst from working outside.
"Too bad its just one of those drink mixes and not the real
thing," Carol replied. "Maybe we should plant some lemon trees
out here as well?"
"Definitely," Maggie smiled and laughed as she took another
drink from her glass. "Honestly I never thought this was
something we'd be doing again. It all just seems so strange now
doesn't it? Us in here able to live normal lives, knowing out
there the world is ugly and dangerous, but in here we're safe."
Carol was smiling even though she didn't agree with her. She
didn't think they were safe in here, not by a long shot. All it
would take is another group of strangers to find them and then
they'd be fighting to keep this place all over again.
"Thank you so much for your help, Carol," Maggie sighed. "I know
you're going through a rough time, but your support means a lot
to me. And I know it will mean a lot to Glenn too."
Carol looked up at the sky noting the current position of the
glaring sun.
"It's about three in the afternoon now, I'm sure they're on
their way back by now."
"I should go inside and check on Judith again," Maggie mentioned
as she stood up and made a grab for the screen door. "Probably
needs her diaper changed."
"I'll come with you," Carol replied rising to her feet as well
as she suddenly spotted Morgan approaching the house out of the
corner of her eye with his stick in hand watching them. "It's
too hot out here for me anyway. I could use some cooling down."
Morgan stared at Carol as she walked inside the house knowing
full and well she was still avoiding him and probably would for
a long time. But it wasn't just Carol either. Since that night
hardly anyone spoke a word to him even if they didn't know about
what he'd done. Even Tara who was one of the most friendly
people there seemed to be avoiding him too and why not? After
all he was the one who put Denise's life in danger so it was
obvious Tara wasn't going to be too forgiving about it.
As of now it seemed the only person he could talk to was Rick
but he was gone on that supply run and wouldn't be back till
later, but even so Rick didn't know about what he'd done and
Morgan even thought about telling him or rather trying to think
of how he would tell him at all. Rick was a changed man whether
Morgan wanted to see it or not. They were very much different
now, almost too different to the point they were complete
strangers again and probably would remain so until Morgan could
finally open up to Rick and stop keeping secrets from him.

Not bad, Ricky.
It's good to see Morgan not only acknowledged that everyone is
sick of his aikido philosophy, but he acknowledged that by
having Denise treat the Alpha Wolf, he put her life at risk.

Abraham Ford was quiet as he stared at Sasha while she stood on
top of the wall's guard post looking straight ahead appearing as
though she were lost in deep thought. Abe knew he was still with
Rosita, sharing a bed anyway, but she didn't have his heart.
Abe couldn't help but think about just how beautiful, strong,
and amazing Sasha was to him and now the only thing he wanted
was to get closer to her. Overtime she had gotten better and
didn't seem to dwell on the loss of Bob or her brother as much.
She finally decided there was still something in this world to
live for, whatever that may be, but it also gave Abe some hope
too.
On the other hand Sasha knew Abe was watching her, in fact she
noticed he hadn't kept his eyes off her since she took over for
Eugene. She couldn't help it but she kind of liked the
attention. Still she missed Bob and Tyreese. They never left her
thoughts and she wondered where they could be now if there was
something after death. Sasha didn't know what to believe but if
there was something she hoped it was good.
Sasha surveyed the scenery beyond the walls. She noticed a few
walkers in the area but nothing she and Abe couldn't handle by
themselves.
"Nice day isn't it?" Abe commented smiling at her with that same
stupid grin she had become accustomed to.
"Yeah," she smiled back softly and then spotted two vehicles
heading this way.
"They're back!" She announced to Abe.
"Well it's about damn time," he remarked as he started unlocking
the gate.
The jingling of the chains started attracting those walkers
Sasha had spotted earlier and Abe pulled out his knife as he
slid the gate open and knifed them in the head one by one as
they came at him.
As the one truck got closer Abe was surprised to see that it was
Glenn in the driver's seat this time, then noticed Rick sitting
in the passenger seat as the truck pulled up to the gate and
Glenn rolled down the window.
"Glad you're back," Abe nodded to Glenn. "Did y'all find
anything or not?"
"We found some food but not a lot," Glenn answered. "We'll have
to make it last."
"What's wrong with him? Abe was eyeing Rick who still looked in
pretty bad shape.
"I'll tell you later," Glenn responded quietly to him, hoping
Rick didn't hear as he drove the truck inside the gate.
Daryl followed behind in the car and Abe waited till they were
both inside to close the gate back up.
Sasha appeared happy to see them back safe and sound and even
offered to help carry the boxes to the store room.
Maggie was ecstatic and rushed over to hug Glenn just like he
imagined as he got out of the truck. Rick got out as well and
looked back at Daryl as he was busy helping Aaron pick up the
boxes. They both made eye contact for a brief moment but that
was it. Olivia came out to take inventory and record down what
they had in order to keep track of the rations.
"Looks like its still slim pickings out there," she commented.
"We were lucky to find anything at all," Aaron told her. "There
really wasn't much left. We might have to resort back to
scavenging in abandoned houses again."
"Or we'll have to travel further," Rick mentioned leaning
himself against the truck. "There's got to be more out there and
I know we're going to find it."
Maggie hugged and kissed Glenn again. "I'm glad you're back,"
she smiled cupping his face in her hands.
"You knew I would be," he smiled back at her.
Daryl noticed Carol sitting on the steps of the porch and gave
her a nod.
She appeared rather emotionless but Daryl knew she was probably
still grieving over Sam and they'd eventually talk about it.
Rick seemed to smile as he spotted Michonne heading his way, and
of course the first thing he asked her was about Carl.
"How's Carl doing?"
"He's still resting," Michonne answered him trying to keep him
hopeful. "But I saw him move. He responded to my touch," she
explained.
"Carl moved?" Rick suddenly had tears of happiness in his eyes.
"Yes," Michonne nodded smiling softly. "He's doing well, but we
still don't know when he'll wake up."
Rick suddenly felt empty and hopeless again as he wiped his
eyes.
"Denise said his vitals are normal," Michonne also mentioned.
"Rick, I think Carl is going to be just fine."
Rick stared at her wanting so much to believe those words but he
couldn't.
"It's only been a few days since he was injured and he's already
responding to touch," Michonne explained. Rick, that's a good
thing. She wanted to reach out and touch him but held back.

Fair work, Ricky.
Admittedly, it was difficult for me to get invested with this
one, because Abraham was featured, and I don't like him or how
he'll eventually dump Rosita.
Doesn't Sasha's rifle have an attached silencer? Would've made
killing the walkers outside the walls much safer.
So the group returned with a small catch of food. I see you're
pointing them in the Hilltop's direction, but don't forget to
resolve your "experiment" subplot from the warehouse first.
Daryl sees Carol sulking, but he doesn't go talk to her?
ARRGGH! >:(

He doesn't talk to her right away because he sees her as someone
who needs her space right now but he will eventually and it will
be a though provoking conversation too.

Rick sat at Carl's bedside once again. His hand resting on top
of Carl's hoping for some kind of response but he was still as
could be aside from his regular breathing.
"Carl," he began to say as he leaned in closer to him. "I don't
know if you can hear me, but I'm here again. Just came back from
a long drive out to look for more food. We were running low," He
sighed. "We uh, we found some things. We were lucky too. Ran
into a lot of walkers but we all worked together. Rosita, Aaron,
Glenn, Spencer, and Daryl." Rick suddenly paused.
"Daryl," he repeated himself with a light chuckle as he thought
about what happened earlier when he lost it and attacked him.
"Daryl and I, we got into a fight." Rick said regretfully. "I
don't even know what happened but I snapped and I was on him. I
think I might have actually lost my mind, but it's because I'm
worried about you." He began to choke up as tears filled his
eyes.
"Carl I need you to be okay," he started to cry. "Please wake
up, please?" He gently shook Carl but got no response. Rick
covered his eyes with his hands and sobbed.
Unbeknownst to Rick Michonne had been standing near the door
listening to him and she started to cry too. She cupped a hand
over her mouth to muffle the sounds hoping Rick wouldn't find
out she was there, but then again a part of her wanted him to.
She couldn't help it but she loved him deeply and wondered if he
would ever feel the same about her.
Once it grew dark outside Carol stepped outside on the porch
with a pack of cigarettes in her hand. She headed over to the
steps and sat down not even caring if Morgan were lurking around
the area or not. She couldn't stand being cooped up inside the
house any longer.
She fidgeted with the pack for a little bit before opening it up
and pulling out one of the cigarettes and lighting it. She
puffed on it and began to cough a little but she liked how it
tasted and puffed on it again, taking it all in as though she
were meditating.
"Hey," said a familiar voice in the dark.
Carol blinked. "Daryl, is that you?"
"Yeah, it's me," he grumbled as he walked out of the shadows and
into the light where Carol could see him. "What you doing out
here? And why are ya smoking?
"I don't know," Carol replied listlessly. "Just needed to feel."
Daryl took a seat on the porch steps beside her and she offered
him a cigarette.
"Thanks," he said pulling out his lighter as he lit it and stuck
it between his lips.
"Rick really lost his **** today," he explained.
"Why?" Carol asked. "What happened?"
Daryl scoffed. "Son of a **** was hallucinating or something and
ended up attacking me. Had his hands around my throat."
"Oh my god," Carol exclaimed in disbelief. "Why the hell would
he do something like that?"
"Because he ain't himself," Daryl replied harshly. "He's all
messed up over what happened to Carl. I swear if that damn kid
doesn't wake up soon Rick's going to drive us all mad. But
enough about me, let's talk about you." He eyed her now
wondering what she must be thinking.
"I don't want to talk about Sam," Carol sighed. "I accepted it.
He's gone and there was nothing I could do. He wasn't meant for
this world and that's all there is to it."
Daryl nodded.
"Sophia wasn't either," Carol continued. "And that's why she's
gone."
Daryl puffed on his cigarette as he stared at Carol. "You don't
talk much about her anymore do you?"
"Because I can't," Carol explained. "I can't even cry anymore,
Daryl. I'm all dried up inside. Sometimes it's like I can't feel
anything."
"I know what that's like," Daryl mentioned. "That's how it felt
after the old man would beat me. I was just numb to it all, and
Merle? He was always gone. Never there when I needed him."
"I'm sorry," Carol sighed. "I know this isn't easy for you to
talk about."
Daryl nodded. "No it's not, but it helps." He took a drag of the
cigarette. "I still remember that day you took an axe to Ed's
head. That must have felt good and you looked like you were
enjoying it."
Carol frowned a little. "I really wasn't," she said. "I was just
so angry at him and angry at myself. I realize now that I was
only with him because I was afraid of being alone, and now I'm
not."
"You're stronger now," Daryl told her. "Hell I am too."
She smiled. "So is this us starting over?"
"I guess," Daryl gave a shrug. "Must mean something huh? The
walls are still standing and we're all still here."
"Are we? She asked him not wanting to tell him how dead she
truly felt inside.
He nodded. "Yup, we're still here and you are too."
Carol suddenly thought about Morgan again and remembered she had
sworn to keep what happened between them a secret.
"Thank you for listening," she suddenly told him as she started
to get up. "It means a lot to me."
"No problem," Daryl replied. "Where you goin now?"
"To bed," Carol finished the last of cigarette butt and put it
out. "I'm tired. It's been a long day for me. I know it's been
long for you too, so you should sleep as well."
"I'm good," Daryl replied.
"Are you going to talk to Rick?" Carol had to ask.
Daryl huffed. "I guess but not right now."
"Okay," Carol replied. "Well, good night Daryl." She started
heading back inside the house.
"Night," Daryl called after her already beginning to feel lonely
now that she was gone. He liked her a lot but for the moment she
appeared to be distancing herself from him. He was no fool he
knew damn well she wasn't telling him everything, but then again
he couldn't blame her either.

Ricky, what you've written here is so much better than what
Gimple wrote in season 6.
Season 6 was such a disappointment, and not just with Caryl
being postponed again: the cliffhangers, the time jump,
characters acting stupid, especially to move to the next story
arc. It's no wonder so many fans are threatening to give up on
this show.
