I just read the latest addition to the story.
I liked Daryl's outside the box thinking. I also liked that
Rosita trumped Glenn the Scavanger by using a paperclip to get
inside the food bank. Further proof that Glenn was the one who
       got Lucilled.
Good idea about bringing back Rick's PTSD.
How did the people living in the food bank die? There was still
food, so they couldn't have starved, and if they'd have left if
       things were getting desperate.
       [/quote]
Rosita was taking what she learned from Eugene and putting it to
use. Glenn is definitely going to ask about that.
Also thanks, I figured Rick would be struggling with PTSD after
what happened that night. How could he not?
As for how the people in the foodbank died, that's going to be
explained in the next part because Rick and the others haven't
       left yet.
BTW thanks for your feedback, I'm glad you approve of my story.
I definitely plan to have more Daryl/Carol interaction too.

The lack of Daryl/Carol interaction was mistake#3 of season 6.

       ---------------------------------------------------------
In the meantime while Glenn and Rosita waited on Rick. Daryl,
Aaron, and Spencer were already sitting in the car ready to go
when Glenn suddenly decided to head to the front of the building
without Rick's permission to see if there was anything left at
       all inside the office.
"Where are you going?" Rosita called after him. "Rick said we're
going to leave immediately after he gets back."
"I have to check inside the office," Glenn stopped to answer
her. "It would be stupid of us not to, so I'm going. You can
come if you want. It shouldn't take long."
Rosita looked around and hesitated. "Okay fine, I'll come with
you. But we have to make it quick, cause I do not want to see
       Rick angry again."
Daryl sat in the driver's seat of the car ready to light up a
cigarette when all of a sudden he noticed Glenn and Rosita
taking off. For the moment Daryl wondered what in the hell they
were up to and suddenly stepped out of the car just as Rick was
making his way back to the truck.
"Glenn and Rosita took off," Daryl called over to him.
"What?" Rick called back tilting his head to the side.
"I saw them run right around the corner of the building," Daryl
pointed out. "They must be checkin the front for supplies or
somethin. Should we go after them?"
"No," Rick replied. "We'll wait for them. If it's just the front
of the building they shouldn't be too long. Besides, at least
they're together. If it was just Glenn then I'd go after him
       myself."
Daryl gave a nod and then proceeded to light his cigarette.
Meanwhile as Glenn and Rosita were peering through the windows
of the office building they didn't see any sign of walkers but
Glenn wasn't going to press his luck so he began knocking on the
glass, then just as expected a walker suddenly popped up behind
the window snarling and fogging up the glass with its rotting
       breath.
       Rosita winced. "That's disgusting."
"At least we can't smell it," Glenn commented. "Then again we've
       smelled worse."
Rosita agreed with him and then began pondering on about what
might have happened at this place.
"All those people couldn't have just starved to death," she
pointed out. "Someone must have killed them."
Glenn suddenly walked up to the front entrance of the building
and tugged on the glass door. "This is locked too."
The walker began to follow his every move on the other side of
the glass snarling and clawing at it with its nails.
Glenn suddenly looked over at Rosita while thinking to himself.
"Do you think this place might have been some kind of trap?"
"What do you mean?" She asked him.
"Think about it," Glenn continued. "There were a lot more
walkers inside the pantry than supplies. I even counted the
sleeping bags. There were maybe about six total, but we killed
about twenty walkers altogether. So doesn't that sound at least
       a bit odd to you?"
Rosita crossed her arms. "Go on."
"Someone wanted these people to die," Glenn explained. "Maybe it
was even one of their own who turned on them? I don't know, the
whole thing just doesn't make any sense to me. But anyway we
need to get inside here and see if anything was left behind, but
uh I need your help. Do you still have that thing you used
       earlier?"
"You mean the paperclip?" Rosita smiled.
       "Yeah, that thing," Glenn nodded.
Rosita reached down into the pocket of her pants and pulled it
out and then set to work on the door.
"By the way, how'd you learn to unlock doors like that?" Glenn
       had to ask.
Rosita chuckled. "I learned it from Eugene. Lock picking happens
to be within his skill set," she remarked in her best Eugene
       impersonation as Glenn laughed.
There was a subtle click and then Rosita pulled back on the door
while Glenn pulled out his knife and stuck the walker in the
head just as it attempted to grab for him.
The office was dark inside sans for the little bit of light that
shone through the windows from the outside. There were some
large desks, what appeared to be a little waiting area with
chairs and some shelving up against one of the walls with boxes
sitting on them. Without even hesitating Glenn rushed over to
the boxes and began looking through the contents but there
       wasn't any food.
"You were right about there being more stuff in here," Rosita
mentioned while eyeing the boxes herself.
"No, Rick was right," Glenn sighed. "There's no food. It's all
bunch of plastic plates, utensils, and napkins that were
donated. We can't take this back with us."
Rosita suddenly noticed something as she started walking down
the short narrow hall that led to the pantry. There was a large
desk pushed up against the door and other heavy things like
boxes and even chairs stacked on top.
"Glenn, come look at this," Rosita called over to him. "I think
       you were right."
Glenn didn't look the least bit surprised once he saw the
       blockade for himself.
"Yep. Someone trapped them in there," he said. "With a bunch of
walkers too. I saw no weapons inside that room either. They were
       completely defenseless."
"So are we done here now?" Rosita suddenly asked. "Rick and the
others are waiting on us you know?"
"Yeah," Glenn responded solemnly. "We're done here."

Daryl may be loyal to Rick (too loyal IMO) but he wouldn't rat
out Glenn and Rosita; he'd just follow them into the food bank.
So the people in the food bank died in an experiment. This
       should be interesting.

Daryl was just letting Rick know where they were so Rick didn't
freak out. Daryl is already feeling like Rick coming out on this
run was a bad idea. He doesn't think he's ready.

Rick was waiting inside the driver's seat of the truck when he
spotted Glenn and Rosita making their way back to the parking
lot. He noticed they'd come back empty handed as well just as he
       predicted they would.
For the moment Glenn was looking rather forlorn and didn't even
say a word as he climbed into the passenger seat of the truck as
Rick stared at him, wondering what he must have seen.
"Sorry about that," Rosita apologized to Rick as she climbed in
the seat behind Glenn. "We just wanted to do a quick sweep of
the front of the building to see if there were any goods."
Rick returned a slight nod in response and then looked back at
Glenn who seemed a little unsettled.
       "Everything okay?" Rick asked him.
Glenn answered with a fast nod and a half smile but he should've
known he couldn't fool Rick. It obvious he'd seen something that
upset him but Rick knew it was better not to ask and instead
leave it be. After all they didn't have time to sit and talk
about it, they needed to get moving if they wanted to make their
next stop on time. Rick turned the ignition of the truck,
starting it up and began to pull out of the parking lot as Daryl
       followed behind in the car.
In the rear view mirror Daryl could see a few walkers in the
distance attempting to try and catch up with the car as he
pulled out onto the main street. Spencer looked back at the
walkers only to be reminded of his mother now and wondering how
far she must have wandered away from Alexandria by now if she
wasn't drawn by the noise. He turned back around and let his
head fall back into the cushioning of the seat and closed his
       eyes.
Meanwhile outside within the safety of the community's walls,
Maggie Greene was standing next to Carol in the newly planted
tomato garden. The sun was beating down on them causing Maggie
to shield her eyes as she knelt down to inspect the little
       sprouting plants.
"That rain we had the other day was just what this garden
needed," she said. "Hopefully we can expect more this week."
Carol squinted her eyes and looked down at her. "Hopefully," she
       repeated forcing a smile.
Maggie looked up at Carol. "How you holdin up lately? I've been
       meanin to ask you."
"Oh you know," Carol replied nonchalantly with a smile. "Same as
       always."
"Were you at the funeral?" Maggie suddenly asked.
"No," Carol replied stoically. "And I'd appreciate it if people
would stop asking me. I barely knew that kid anyway."
"Sorry," Maggie apologized and then proceeded to change the
subject. "I wish daddy could see all this, what we've done. I
think he'd be proud of us, especially Rick. Sometimes I still
can't believe he's gone. Same with Beth. Sometimes it just feels
like a horrible nightmare and that I'll wake up soon."
Carol said nothing more but she still sympathized with Maggie
and even began to wonder what life would be like if Sophia had
       still been alive.
"Glenn is out there somewhere," Maggie sighed looking down at
the soil. "Out there risking his life for me and the baby,
       again."
"He'll be fine," Carol said. "He's strong. He knows what hes
       doing."
Maggie nodded in agreement. "You're right he does. Daryl too."
Carol's expression softened a little as she began to think about
Daryl and everything both of them had endured together. She even
felt a little regret for distancing herself from him but then
remembered she'd only done it because she couldn't face him
while pretending to be someone else, because he would see right
through her and it was something she didn't want.
"It's a beautiful day out," Carol suddenly changed the topic as
she gazed up at the crystal blue sky above. "I think I'll go
       make some lemonade."

The next stop on Rick's map turned out to be a large cannery.
Rick could see a few walkers roaming about behind the chain link
as he pulled up in the truck and sat there for a moment as his
hands rested on the steering wheel.
Daryl suddenly pulled up beside him and stepped out of the car
and reached for his crossbow as if he'd forgotten it was gone.
"God damn it," he muttered under his breath and then instead
pulled out his knife and walked up to the fences to lure the
       walkers right to him.
Aaron and Spencer got out of the car as well and waited for Rick
and the others, but at the moment Rick seemed to be some place
else again as he sat there in the truck staring off into space
thinking about Carl. Even as a walker came up to the fence all
he could picture was Carl and suddenly Daryl was stabbing his
       son in the head.
"No!" Rick suddenly cried out gripping the steering wheel tight
while startling both Glenn and Rosita in the process.
"Rick," Glenn suddenly spoke up. "What's wrong with you today?"
       "I don't, I don't know," Rick answered.
"Well we're here," Glenn said. "We might as well see what we can
       bring back."
Glenn stepped out of the truck and then Rosita while Daryl
continued stabbing walkers in the head through the chain link
fence along with help from Spencer and Aaron.
"Something is really wrong with Rick," Rosita suddenly pulled
Glenn aside behind the truck where Rick couldn't hear them.
Glenn nodded. "I know. I think it was bad idea for him to come
on this run with us, he's really out of it."
Not long after they both heard the sound of the truck door
opening as Rick was stepping out.
"Do you think we should ask him to wait here for us?" Rosita
asked. "I mean just so we know where he is and that he's safe."
"He won't do that," Glenn explained to her. "I've seen Rick like
this before, there's no reasoning with him. Don't even try."
Rosita blinked. "You can't be serious?"
"Daryl," Rick called out. "Have you cleared most of the walkers
       out?"
"Just the ones out here," Daryl responded. "No telling how many
of them could be inside this place. Are you sure you're ready
       for this again?"
"Why wouldn't I be?" Rick questioned him accusingly.
"I dunno, man," Daryl answered. "You just seem really out of it
today. Could've gotten yourself or one of us killed back there,
       ya know?"
Rick narrowed his eyes at him.
"Here's the wire cutters," Glenn suddenly announced breaking the
tension between Rick and Daryl. "Should be able to cut a hole
right in the fence large enough for us to come back through with
       supplies."
"Thank you, Glenn," Rick acknowledged as he backed away from
       Daryl.
Glenn started cutting through the chain link fence as the others
waited patiently until the opening was large enough to pass
       through.
Rick stood propped up against the door of the truck squinting
his eyes and blocking the sunlight from his face with his hand.
Daryl gave him a disgruntled look as he sat on the hood of the
       car.
"Almost there," Glenn announced cutting through the last of the
fence. "There, that should do it."
Rosita was the first to step through. "Nice job," she commended
       him.
"Thanks," he smiled as he stepped through after her and eyed the
loading docks with all the trucks.
Aaron felt a little nervous as he stared at the trucks too. The
whole thing was all too familiar even though it hadn't been the
       same packing plant.
Daryl picked up on Aaron's fear as he stepped through the fence
and even gave him a friendly pat on the shoulder. "Don't worry,"
he said. "It ain't the same one."
Rick headed straight for the docking area and began to inspect
       the trucks.
"I don't suppose we'll find anything inside," he looked at
       Glenn.
"Probably not," Glenn replied studying the truck. "My guess is
anything we're going to find would most likely be inside the
       factory."
"It's worth a shot," Rick nodded pulling up on his jeans and
       tightening his belt.
"We need food now. Can't wait any longer."
"I know," Glenn nodded his understanding.
"First things first," Rick said as he walked right up to one of
the metal doors and gave it a good hard kick in order to find
out if there were walkers inside. It seemed immediately after
there was banging and snarling coming from the other side.
"Doesn't sound like too many of them, so this shouldn't take too
       long."

Ah, stabbing walkers through a chain link fence. Good times.

Reading your story, and how Rick is experiencing PTSD again, I
realized the group should've returned to the council system
       instead of the Ricktatorship.

Probably not a bad idea at this point. Rick obvious isn't ready
for the outside world so he needs people like Daryl and Glenn to
step up. I could also see some kind of fight breaking out soon
if Rick doesn't get himself together.
