       It just occured to me

That poor Bob died believing Eugene really knew the cure for
ending the apocalypse and that the world would change. It's sad
when you think about it but then again Bob Stookey was very
optimistic and believed there was always hope so I'm sure even
if he knew there was no cure he still believed something better
existed for Rick and the others.
I always thought Bob had one of the most tragic origin stories
of all the characters simply because he ended up being the last
man standing with his two previous groups. This left him feeling
as though he were cursed to watch everyone else around him die.

Well, if Bob had to die, then its good he died believing Eugene
       would save the world.
I liked Bob, but he seemed bi-polar along with being an
alcoholic. He changed because he found purpose with the group
and love with Sasha. But if Bob lived to learn that Eugene was
a liar, he would've been devastated. I think Bob would pull a
murder-suicide between Sasha and himself just to spare her the
horror of the inevitable demise of the group.

You really think Bob would just give up like that and want to
end it with Sasha? Well if they had gone that route it would be
another unused story line from the comic, but I don't think Bob
would go that route. I think he would've kept on going with the
others and still remained hopeful because he wasn't alone
       anymore.

Bob seemed to have emotional highs and lows, plus he was an
alcoholic. I think Sasha anchored him, but if he learned that
Eugene had lied to the group, Bob would believe the group was
doomed: no home, no food, and little ammo. He was the sole
survivor of two groups that got killed trying to survive, and
with his background, I don't think he'd have the nerve to keep
going on. I think he'd believe he'd be doing Sasha a favor by
       committing murder-suicide.
