Rick and the Governor
By: Rapscallion Date: March 8, 2016, 6:32 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Although Rick and the Governor were arch-enemies, they only met
face-to-face twice in the TV series: the first meeting was at
the feed mill for a failed negotiation, and the last time was at
the fall of the prison
Talk about Rick and the Governor's first meeting here.

At least the Governor brought whiskey at their first meeting lol
but yeah it was obvious that Rick wanted to kill him on sight
and I'm sure the Governor knew it too.
I did enjoy that final fist fight between those two because I
had been waiting for Rick to get his hands on that guy forever.
Still even though Rick got his ass kicked and had to be saved by
Michonne, it was handled really well.

The Governor actually arrived at the feed mill first, and taped
a gun underneath the table in case Rick tried to kill him.
I've always liked the idea of having two of the Governor's goons
hiding in the rafters, and waiting for the signal to shoot Rick.
One of them moves a bit, and Rick hears the sound of creaking
wood above him. Now Rick knows he and the Governor aren't
alone, and he can't kill him without getting gunned down
himself.

I'm surprised the Governor didn't have anyone else there in case
shit went down. Guess he was confident enough that he could
handle Rick all by himself.

Yeah, the Governor was a manipulating bastard. He offered Rick
peace in exchange for Michonne, and Rick briefly agreed to
it...despite knowing what the Governor was going to do to her.

Good thing ghost Lori was there to convince him not to go
through with it.

Yeah, Lori's ghost was there whenever Rick was in danger or
making a big mistake. Another example: Allen from Tyreese's
group wanted to take over the prison, and Lori's ghost made Rick
force them out just when he was about to take them in.
After defeating the Governor in "Welcome to the Tombs," Rick
returns to the prison with the surviving Woodburians. Rick
looks around for Lori's ghost but she's gone, implying Rick's
made the right decision, and Lori is now at peace.

I never made that connection before but since you pointed it
out, I totally see it now. Yeah Allen was definitely a threat at
the time.
