Merle's sacrifce
By: Ickray_Imesgray Date: March 3, 2016, 2:26 pm

I loved this episode a lot especially when Merle decided to do
Rick's dirty work for him instead only to end up talked out of
by Michonne. Merle always struck me as someone who was very
stubborn but she was able to reach him with her words and so he
lets her go and then goes off on a suicide mission to kill the
Governor and his cronies.
Merle's death was also very tragic especially when Daryl finds
him as a walker and has to put him down. That's when we really
get to see Daryl break down and cry. It's even sadder when you
realize not that long ago Daryl told Merle he just wants his
brother back.

I hated Rick for planting that deal in Merle's head, because
Merle only went through with it to save Daryl.

This is true cause Merle would do anything to protect his
brother. Honestly Rick wasn't thinking things through. I don't
know what in the hell made him think that the Governor just
wanted Michonne and wouldn't want them all dead anyway.
Rick should've known better than that.

Rick was likely afraid he'd lose most of the group in a war
against the Governor. The Governor had the numbers, Rick
didn't.
I noticed Daryl wasn't too happy with the deal; Rick and Hershel
likely convinced him it was the best thing for the group.

They were fools to believe that's all the Governor wanted. I
still think that if he'd gotten Michonne he go after them when
he was done with her just because he wanted them dead.
The Governor never once struck me as someone that could be
trusted. He's the type to want one thing and then another and
another.

Before Merle arrived at the feed mill, the Governor told his
goons to kill Rick and his group, but leave Michonne alive.
Like Carol said, Merle "Gave us a fighting chance." With most
of his experienced soldiers dead, the Governor was forced to
fill his ranks with scared townspeople, and they were easily
chased out of the prison.

Merle came so close to sniping the Governor too but that stupid
kid just had to get in the way. The fight scene between the
Governor and Merle was cool though. I liked how Merle said he
wasn't going to beg for his life. At that point he was ready to
die.
