Taking the Prison

Earlier I started a thread about the group's house raid, but
this was also the episode where the group took the prison. Talk
about it here.

Taking the prison was a really good choice because of the safety
it provided the group. It seemed they were able to dispatch the
walkers inside the fences and facility fairly easy, and the only
actual problem were those inmates that had already claimed it.

Maggie's participation in taking the prison's courtyard made me
a fan of hers.

That's because Rick's group had spent the winter killing walkers
with blade weapons; they became expert walker killers.
In contrast, the Governor and his group probably spent the
winter burning through their bullets, because his group found
the prison first, and Merle convinced the Governor they couldn't
take the prison. Sounds like their ammo at the time was
critically low.

Sounds like the Governor and his people wouldn't have lasted
long even if they attempted to take the prison. But again it's
their fault for relying on ammo and using more tactical means
like Rick's group.
This also explains why the Governor and his cronies relied so
much on taking military personnel and stealing their supplies.

At the time, I thought the grossest thing to ever happen on the
show was when the riot gear walker got its face torn off. :o

ah yes, that's definitely on the list of squeamish moments. The
well walker scene still gets me the most.

For a moment of levity, how about when Carol almost shot Rick's
foot off while he was on his run to close the courtyard's gate?
It's Rick's fault really, he was in Carol's line of fire. ;D
