Safety rating for AC
By: Chad Brown Date: September 1, 2015, 1:20 pm

I have been made aware of a iracing style safety rating for AC.
It is called Minorating. It is found at www.minorating.com
HTML http://www.minorating.com
It works by detecting and keeping track of contacts between
vehicles. It then displays the rating so others can see how
"safe" you are. It also has functionality to auto kick crashers
at a certain number of contacts, to be set by the server admin.
Also it can auto kick major incidents if the admin so wishes.
(Turn 1 pileups). This seems to also carry over to other servers
which have the rating system setup. The program appears to have
a central repository for the data which the server connects to
to get the information.
So I am asking if the membership here would like to have the
rating system installed on the server.

It sounds like a good idea but I can see how there could be
major problems. I remember seeing incident logs in rf2 where
hundreds of incidents were logged for bottoming out, a glitch
with a movable and poor hit detection when 2 cars were close but
never touched.
It's a good idea but I'd like to test it before we set it to
auto boot other players. Also, does it calculate incidents/mile
or is it a raw number or incidents/minute? I can see lots of
ways to game the system to bring your rating up- like sitting on
an empty minoracing server for hours.

I believe it is setup like Iracing, where the count is incidents
per distance traveled. The system only counts the last 1000
incidents as well. It does not appear to count offs or contacts
with walls or tack side objects, only other vehicles.
It also appears that the server admin can limit the users
allowed onto the served by MR level. Those who have been labeled
a Wrecker by the system can be denied access to the server.
I see numerous servers including all of the League of Ordinary
Gentlemen servers use it, so if you have been racing over there
at all you likely already have a MR rating on file.

I've just been on Minolin's "get your rating server" BMW 1m 2
Mugello
First race I can remember where the field got through the first
turn cleanly on lap 1.
Don't really see a downside for running it on the server. Just
knowing big brother is keeping tabs helps motivate careful,
conscientious driving.

I agree. In iracing you see alot less turn 1 incidents than any
of the pubby races in AC. A large part of that is people not
wanting to hurt their safety rating. This is similar. Some
of.the servers limit acces to only those who have an A or B
rating. I imagine every one of us would have that rating very
quickly as we are all safe and clean drivers.
One other thing I forgot to mention, it appears that the system
can determine the deiver at fault in some situations (turn 1 for
instance) and wont penalize the innocent drivers caught in the
incident. I'll believe it when I see it in action though.

Not quite right on T1 incidents. Rather It doesn't penalize
drivers caught up in secondary collisions. It will penalize
both the principles in a T1 incident. another benefit of
running Minorating is that the MR attached to the server name
will attract the right kind of drivers.

I think having the sing up system is enough for the first race.
We could have a test race to test minorating. Usually racing is
pretty clean in a league enviroment. But I also understand that
maybe drivers are then even more aware of their surroundings, if
they would get bad reputation for too risky driving.

I'll see if I can get the service running on the server tonight
for.tomorrows carb day. It appears no one is set against the
service.

A new Version of the Minorating plugin was released today. I'll
try to get it installed and working ASAP.
