New Member Introduction - Ted Hough
By: Ted Hough Date: October 31, 2019, 3:07 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Hello everybody - I'm Ted Hough - I just joined last week and
have been on the GT3 Hungaroring server practicing for the fall
2018 season, I apologize for joining half-way and hope to not
interfere in any championship battles that may be taking place.
I'm 21 years old, from Minnesota in the United States of
       America.
I've been sim racing since 2011, beginning with iRacing. I did a
large amount of stock car short-track leagues at the time, as I
started racing Legends Cars in real life the same year.

Since 2015 I've moved over to road racing in real life as well
as on the sim, gaining my SCCA Pro license in 2014 and debuting
in the SCCA World Challenge pro series in a B-spec touring car
in 15, and competing in a full season in 2016. Since 2016 I've
been instructing with the SCCA's Track Night in America program
as a local volunteer instructor and doing gigs "For track time"
with smaller clubs and circuits in the US Midwest.
Last year I started using a simulator again for the first time
in a long while, joining two Vintage Assetto Corsa leagues, one
which ran all kinds of cars and tracks, and one that specialized
in the GPL 3.0 Liter Non-winged F1 cars.
I still run in the GPL League at 2100 UTC on Sundays, but wanted
a 2nd league on Sundays or Tuesdays to run in order to diversify
       my skillset a little bit.
I was intrigued by rFactor 2's dynamic surface model and
affordability compared to iRacing, so I decided to check out
some different leagues, so far I'm really enjoying practicing in
the GT3 cars at the Hungaroring and learning a new car, tire
model and circuit for the first time. I want to thank Paul for
helping me unerstand the rules and registration and Tom/Philip
for helping me on track and giving me some setups as I am a
complete beginner to this sim and find the UI very confusing to
read with a VR headset on!
See you all on track - Ted.

       Welcome Ted.
You certainly will be one of the youngest members of the VRC
league. It is always nice to have members who have some RL race
experience. We have had other members with varied amounts of
track time, be it in local club races, and even a Blancpain
driver. I always find it interesting to hear how an experienced
driver feels that rF2 simulates their experiences. I take all
the paid shills "opinions" about a sim with a grain of salt as
they are paid by the company they are giving the recommendations
to. Even certain Youtubers can be suspect these days as they are
paid by some sims for endorsements (Iracing being the top
       offender)
I was recently looking at Mazda Cup cars, curious as to how
expensive it would be to get into club racing. Any amount really
would be out of my budget but it is neat to think of being on
track in an actual race against other drivers.
In any case, enough of my blubbering. You will find the
membership here helpful if you are willing to ask questions. I
hope you enjoy your time here, and in rF2 more generally.
       See you on track.
