Online multiplayer will now be included free on the Steam
platform too. Good for the game but as an early buyer of a
lifetime subscription I feel mildly pissed off! lol

Another way to look at it is that they could continue to charge
for online and you have no one to race against. I also have
lifetime online. At this point I would just be happy to have
full grids and some form of pick up racing. If they continue the
online subscription that will be pretty much an impossibility

You are of course absolutely right Chad, I'm just an honorary

I agree with both of you! I am happy to lose my subscription
money if it means the life of the sim is xtended. but like pete
it does piss me off a bit... or as the Scots say "that's pish"

i bought the game just a couple months ago and only payed the
"yearly service" thing because i was sure that the subs fee
       wouldnt last long.

I bought the game in 2013 and paid the yearly subscription fee
at that time. I continue to pay the yearly subscription fee
until this year when I was offered a lifetime sub when I moved
to Steam. The offer came because of the amount of yearly subs
and I paid would have been roughly equivalent to a lifetime
subscription, and they were trying to entice people to go to
steam. This was of course before Studio 397 was formed and took
over rfactor 2 development. I don't know if they are still
making those types of offers but I was advised it was on a
case-by-case basis based on how long the game was old and how
       many yearly Subs were purchased.

If it was Assetto Corsa doing something like that, or pCARS, the
forums would erupt :-P. When AC went on sale just a month after
coming out on Early Access, there was a huge outcry. But
whatever loyalist disservice is being done, it instantly raised
the amount of online-enabled players to about 25,000. However,
how many of those 25,000 would still be interested in the game
       is a whole different subject.
Still baffling to not see nothing on '95 Reynard Honda and a
bunch of other awesome licenses they have - a couple of Group C
cars and the 2003 Bentley Speed just to mention some awesome
prototypes. Or some 1980's turbo F1 cars. Yet, what gets worked
on and released? A fantasy '74 Nascar, a rehashed Renault
Mégane, and another unnecessary Corvette C7r. Then there's the
SuperGT in the pipeline for the past 3 years, with nothing
special about it. Players will come when better stock content is
presented. NOLA is a waste of time. Sonoma Raceway will be nice
but not a big enough name. Watkins Glen may never come, who
knows when the CAD 2008 Spa will be made, etc, etc, etc.

The content news was really disheartening. ANOTHER Corvette? Are
you f**king serious? I am glad they are ditching the
subscription, but I also hope people who have the lifetime
       license get somehow compensated.
You have to give them credit for doing what they said they were
going to do, but it is going to take more than a facelift to win
back former hardcore rf2 fans that have uninstalled from years
       of frustration.
I'd actually be most stoked if they took 5 or 10 tracks and made
them look and drive....not shitty. That would be huge.

Gui you may be jaded by ISI's piss poor development abilitites,
but I am hoping rF2 is handled properly by S397. I am willing
to give them some time to flesh out this otherwise fantastic
sim. DX11 is a HUGE improvement whether you think it is or not.
While it wont instantly make everything look lifelike it will go
a long way toward making rF2 less resource intensive and then
allow the extra headroom to be used for making the game a little
       bit prettier.
I agree ISI were not the best caretakers for this sim. I dont
think they ever expected to have to actually produce content.
They expected the development to be handled by the modding
community. But the modding community was not ready to move away
from rF1 and found rF2 to bee too bothersome to build for. ISI
was stuck trying to create a "Game" they never intended. Gjon's
flat refusal to borrow money to hire developers made things even
       worse.
S397 is a breath of new life for this mishandled piece of
software. I am willing to give them some slack and allow them
some time to get their shit straight.
