Server down for updates
By: Chad Brown Date: January 15, 2018, 3:09 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
S397 have released a new build for their dedicated server
software. This should address the join server lag we have been
experiencing. The servers have been pulled dow for the update
and will be back up shortly.
Build notes:
5/01/2018
Steam Build ID 2438696
Dedicated server SteamCMD Build ID 2438698
Fixed join lag in multiplayer.
Updated language files (to avoid crashing when the LSI screen
was active).
Fixed wipers on/off in replay.
Fixed rain in cockpit in MP sessions.
Fixed V-sync software with 'custom resolution'
(Config_DX11.ini).
Fixed TCP Matchmaker error message in the dedicated server UI.
Added an all new ambient undercar shadow: more stable, reliable,
and clearly visible even at night. The shadows can no longer
clip through the ground, nor are they visible on the ground
below a bridge when a car drives over that bridge. This new tech
requires no intervention from content creators. We automatically
remove the current undercar art and replace it with the new
system. On subsequent updates, content creators can remove the
old artwork.

So it would seem the update released on the 15th is causing some
major CPU problems. Usually the CPU on the server is barely
working with 3 instances and now, with 2 instances running it is
sitting at about 60% usage across all 4 cores. It is interesting
to see all the cores in use so that may be a good thing, But the
high CPU usage, especially when there are no drivers on the
servers, is a bit worrisome.
Hope to have better news and a hotfix before Sunday.

It was recommended that the dedicated server be completely and
freshly installed on the server to get rid of any possible
lingering problems. So I will be doing this over the next few
hours. The servers will be down until this process is complete.
I expect it should take about 2 hours unless some other major
issue comes up. IT is fun (Not).

Fresh install completed and servers are back up and running.
High CPU usage is still happening. Hopefully Marcel and the boys
are working on this today.

Sunday I am trying to make sure we are in the best position to
make it an enjoyable race for everyone who participates.
