Skin File Sizes

Hi been wondering if we should use 2k skin files instead of the
4k ones i made
this is easy if you can open the file you can do it :) if not i
will gladly do it for you
open file go to edit image size change from 4096 x 4096 to 2048
x 2048 save it as diffrent name sj2k01alt.dds or similar :)
use the 2k skin version for race day :)
will still look awesomely cool and maybe less bandwidth will be
used on servers 8)

I tend to stick with 2K skins for online races - for the reasons
you mentioned.

If you still have my original file I would take a 2K conversion
as well.

I didn't even know you could do that. I wonder if it would have
any network impact at all once your machine has already
downloaded the skin. Otherwise during race it's probably no
different since it would just be text reference to the skin used
or something.
I'm only taking a guess.

Yep thought that too as it is machine dependent on res settings
how skins look. server only gives reference to where cars are
bit like a time code sync

Michael, I think you're right. It shouldn't effect network once
loaded. Having a full grid of cars with 4K skins uses more
resources on everyone's PC. That's probably the reason why I was
told to use 2K skins for online.

Could you make me a 2K skin? I will also put this on my list of
things to learn along with making my own skid some day.
