It's because instead of simply fixing the couple of things that
needed solving, Juergen gave the cars incredibly grippy tires,
pit limiters, improved shifting and other things that make it
perform like a more recent GT than the mid-80's beast it was. I
was part of the original testing group and back then I was very,
very fast. Right away I was on average 2.5s faster (in Lime
Rock, of all tiny places) with the incoherent monster he
created. The original lined up reasonably well with real life
laptimes, the update had nothing to do with reality or realism
and it only got worse.
