Ideas for Alpha 6.0 Reset

Ok, so we have no actual date for the Alpha 6.0 update and not
100% sure that the devs will suggest a server wipe. It is
however a good bet that they will suggest it is the way to go
based on previous major releases.
Here is your opportunity to make some suggestions for the make
up of your galaxy. Just because you request/ask for/suggest
doesn't mean it will happen, however if we believe it is a good
idea then we would certainly be silly to ignore it. I would also
think by now our regular players would know that we are
certainly open to adding in player ideas.
So a few things that you don't need to suggest:

[li]Adding the extra resource asteroids across more systems -
already going to do this[/li]
[li]Adding new and extra planets (this one isn't going to be
happening anytime soon - we have lots of planets and the ones we
have are potentially going to need updating as part of the 6.0
release and therefore will be a lot of work already)[/li]

We are going to make all starter systems one way as part of the
next reset. This will mean as soon as you warp out of the system
you will not be able to return. You also will not be able to
warp between starter systems as all (there will be no way to
enter a starter system at all from any non starter system).
So why are we doing that?
Well we've decided that it will be a good way to keep the
starter systems clean and available for new players. As you
reach a level where you can and want to explore there will be
PvE systems available to settle in and make home that you will
be able to come and go from as much as you like, they will also
have plentiful resources. Therefore you will not be
disadvantaged at all by moving to these systems, but new players
will be able to use the starter planets/systems for what they
are designed for, without them filling up with fully established
players and factions.

Rapina to encourage settling on either side of it and therefore
maybe making Rapina more of a focal point (for those that don't
know why Rapina is important, it has a huge abundance of
absolutely every resource available in the game). With that in
mind, but taking into account that we are not going to be adding
more planets for a bit, we have come up with the following star
system to implement with the Alpha 6.0 reset.

The idea of this is to have two distinct sides and we could even
look at having two different origins if people thought that a
fun thing to do. Although one side appears to be better off than
the other, they are both actually quite even. One side has 2
starter systems, but the other side has 2 PvP systems with the
rare resources, so it does even out. Those starting from Andreas
can choose which side of the galaxy to join when they are ready
to leave the cotton wool of Andreas.
Please feel free to respond with your ideas (or objections to
what is suggested), but please be somewhat sensible, always
respectful of others ideas and their comments.
Lets get something a little different going for our next reset

This looks like a good idea..
as long as Ludius & Centaris are offered as an Advanced Starting
area for people already promised a place in factions.

Bloody awesome Moe. Thanks so much. Without these changes all
the time, I reckon the players get a little edgy and start to
lose interest.
I reckon a server wipe is a great idea. It'll "freshen" everyone
up and make them urgent.
(Especially those with giant CV's that'll need to scrounge up
100's K ore (SimpleTech, Havoc, etc :o)
The one-way starter planet thing is fabulous.
datristan's point is a good one, but I sit on the other side of
the fence.
Do the grind no matter how advanced you are. Shouldn't take you
long to CV and warp and get to your friends.
Prevent total noobs "accidentally" starting on a planetary
system.
And if we wipe for 6.0, then we (as factions) should plan which
starter planet to begin on, then work together as a team to get
up and warp out of there, together on 1 CV.
Thanks again Moe and all you other guys. You are much
appreciated and much of your work goes unnoticed.

They will Not be starter systems at all, people will have to
make their own way to those systems after doing the work to get
there or as Elp mentioned, organise beforehand and start with
the rest of their faction on the same starter planets.

Looks great. The only problem I can see is that the Blue systems
could get very crowded very quickly unless you do something like
restrict large factions to having only 1 base in those systems
(or 1 base per playfield in system). The idea of having 2 sides
with contested systems between is great.

Spanners44, the admins have expressed concern about large
factions having too many cores in the starter planets also.
None Incorporated [0IN] is planning to have 1 BA for the entire
faction. The starter planet and coordinates have already been
chosen.
The goal of the faction is to build a CV as quickly as possible
and get as many members, hopefully all, out of the starter
system.

Maybe an alternative/slight change to what Datristan suggested,
have a noob PVE planet like andreas currently is with no
predators/aggressive POI's and an advanced starter planet that
has predators and aggressive POI's but is still one-way and you
have to farm and build your own CV to get off? It would be more
like a starter planet on a vanilla server/single player game.
Personally for me Andreas was painfully slow and boring with the
only way to level being to mine, construct and kill animals. I
like to start fighting bad guys as soon as possible.
That's just me though, and i do understand why some people
prefer it the way it currently is.

The other green systems are all starter planets and have varying
degrees of toughness about them, in all there would be 10
starter planets and as far as systems/playfields/planets filling
up we will be monitoring it and any faction/player being really
over the top will be chatted to, so as that we can understand
why and a decision would be made as to letting them keep all
their stuff / removing some or simply adding more systems that
allows people to move to.
We are lucky with our server and the Devs improving the game
optimization that we have some capacity to add more :)

Whatever the map configuration, there'll be pros and cons, and
suitability to certain styles of play.
Safe assumption that when 6 is released and there'll be a flood
of users which will push limits.
I just hope that everyone can be respectful and patient,
particularly when something goes wrong,
or someone does something that upsets someone else.
Please be mindful of the culture that Moe & Andy started.
It's always a good thing to have another quick read over their
rules

I think the map idea will be good, as it is a little more
structured this way. We'll probably need to create another
starter system with three planets to balance the sides out.
Hopefully we won't have to worry about starter planets being
full this time round, as experienced players should move on to
other PvE or PvP worlds as soon as they are warp drive ready I
would think. We'll have plenty of other systems to accommodate
players & factions alike.
But yeah, throw us your ideas because we may be able to
implement them as we get ready for the change.
