Hello All:
Here is the website for Iowa Summer Writing Festival. Their 2019
booklet just came out. For writers, I believe it is a "dream" to
attend. I've been lucky 3 times.
Stories abound in and of the festival that we all agree with,
yup all, that there seems to be "something in the air" which
makes us attuned to our writing--like we are cloaked in genius.
If ever you get the chance, go. You'll be hooked. The program
director, Amy Margolis, currently is writing her memoir of when
she was a ballet dancer in NY City in the 1970s and the AIDS
epidemic began. Amy also is great company if you have the notion
to sit with her, after classes, outside at a random bar's patio,
slurping down an icy concoction. It could be a repeat of when we
both sat straight-backed as first-hand witness to a rank
dumpster being dragged across the street in full view, while
sheeerreeeks abounded from the nail-embedded, wooden pallet
caught underneath. She'll clink glasses with you in testimony,
like she did I. That's some writing pal.
