       Favorite Caliber and Loads
       By: Yote59 Date: February 5, 2012, 7:51 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
I am currently loading some 22-250 ammo. Using Winchester
       brass....Winchester primers....H4895 powder by Hodgdon...topped
with a Hornady 50 gr. PSP. Shooting sub 1" @ 100 yards. What
       about other favorite loads?

The 50 gr. is an excellent bullet for me. The BC is great and
holds up well up to 500 yards. I am currently experimenting
       with some 35gr. ballistic tips.

I'm loading .22-250's with 50gr Nosler BT and 35gr's of Varget,
Win lg rifle primers in necked sized only Hornady cases. This
load gives me 1 inch groups at 200yds.

Been wanting to use some Varget myself. I think once the H4895
is gone....that will be my nest purchase.

I tried quite afew different powders for my .22-250, IMR3031,
IMR 4895, IMR 4350, H 380 and Varget. When the smoke cleared
       Varget came out on top.

Good to know....thanks for that info. Gonna grab a pound and
see how my old .22-250 reacts.

I used load data from the Nosler Reloading book. Really like
       their Ballistic tip bullets.

One of the reasons I went with the .22-250 is the velosity's you
can achieve. My loads are shooting right at 3600fps, that really
flattens out the curve but with the Nosler Ballistic tips it
will also prevent ricochets if you do miss your mark. They're
designed for violent expansion and if they hit the ground they
basically self destruct rather than skip off to parts unknown.

       I agree....the .22-250 is a screamer. I love the flat
trajectory and speed down the stretch. At those speeds....a
50gr tip will self destruct no doubt.
