I voted for the coyote but never thought of them as "SMALL"
game. Same as gophers . I don't know what I would list them as
other that "Targets"

I know technically not correct to list the coyote as "small"
game, but in my mind I have always classified game as: Large
game-moose, elk...etc, Medium size-Whitetail, mule deer, ram,
goat...etc, anything else-small game. Just my thinking and
schema I have for wildlife.

I voted for turkey, because it's about the only thing I can get
my favorite hunting buddy(grandson)who's 16 now to hunt for
besides girls.(poor kid) I hope he grows out of that. He really
gets into turkey hunting and we have always bagged our spring
longbeards since he was 9. Gonna try to get him involved in
turkey hunting with archery equipment before it's too late and
slips to the dark side. ;)

It's always good to introduce your children and grandchildren to
the joys of hunting. Sounds like you have had many enjoyable
hunts with your grandson...and yes, those girls have a way of
being notice without much effort.

I'd cast my vote for the Ruffed Grouse. They're one tuff bird to
hunt. Unfortunately their numbers have really declined here in
North East Ohio. Its rare now to see one here.

Any explanation as to why the decline?

This short article may answer your question. It appears that
loss of habitat is the culprit.

Lifelong memories. Watching him and his dad grow into hunters is
what it's all about for me. If you take your kids hunting, you
won't have to hunt for your kids. Truer words were never spoken.

I only do groundhog & deer hunting anymore so the vote would be
for groundhog. A lot of long range practice & also beneficial to
the farmer.

I voted for coon. I have had the most fun hunting them. The
trips have made me laugh, scared the crap out of me, and made me
some money. With out a doubt I will claim them as my fondest
quarry.
