Well....I have decided to try my hand at making a leather
holster. It can't be that difficult....let you know how this
       turns out.

Good looking rig. When it comes to that kind of work I'm all
thumbs, think I'd better stick to tying flies for now.

I know the feeling, these eyes are 60 yrs old but am still
trying to get the job done. I fish for Steelhead all fall thru
late Spring and sure like using my own flies to catch them.
They're an amazing fish, kinda like hooking freight trains. ;)

Great job for your first holster. I like the red
       stitching....goes well with a Ruger.

Doggoned good looking holster. I'd like to have one just like
it, but wouldn't know how to begin. Leather has always been a
       deep, dark mystery to me.
And tying flies? I have a difficult time simply tying a clinch
knot. My eyes though, are 62 years old...
But I do fly fish. I've built some fly rods out of crappie rods.
I cut off the backs, leaving about three inches for a fighting
stock, cap it with a some kind of plastic cap. And go to work...
My favorite of the two is the 11 footer, which I use in a
private pond (with two lure set-up, a wet fly hanging about 16
inches below a popper), where I routinely catch 4-5 pound
catfish. The last one I caught, just last week, took 20 minutes
to tire me out enough to say, "Land it, or break it". So I put
lots more pressure on the rod and line, and brought it in. I
figured I had a 50% chance of losing it.
On any given day at that pond, I'll usually catch several
smaller bass, and at least one big catfish.

[/quote]When I was younger, I loved to fly fish. I used the
very same set-up.....trail a wet fly that would sink about 16-18
inches behind a popper. It was nothing to catch two fish at a
time. Ahhh good memories. As for as the holster.....not that
much to it. You could do it.
