I am currently shooting the Savage Axis in 22-250 cal. Love the
gun....flat shooting and very accurate. Lets hear about what
       your favorite gun is currently.

Love the Savage Axis. I am shooting a Savage GXP with an
accutrigger. I went with a .223 because the wood grain is very
very cool and unique to this particular rifle when they made it.
I kinda went back and forth on the caliber since I was buying
new. I really was interested in the .223 and 22-250. A friend
had a .204 and I was really interested in that also. It was the
wood grain that ended up setting this rifle appart from the
others. i added a Harris bi-pod and shot the factory packaged
Simmons 3x9x32. I really liked the Simmons that came with it,
but it wasn't strong enough for longer shots (300yds). I ended
up swapping a Leupold 4x12x40 to help with the stretched out
shots. The Axis came out after I picked up my rifle or else I
could easily see one in my safe! ;D

Mt favorite rifle is a Rem 700VLS in .22-250, topped with a
Simmons 6.5 to 20x50 and Harris bipod. Handloaded with 50gr
Nosler BT it'll hold a 1 inch group at 200yds. I love long range
chuck shooting and this rifle gets the job done rather well.

       I have a Rem 700 BDL Custo Deluxe. I love the 700 action. I
was thinking that maybe my next varmint caliber would be a 700.

Theres alot of good actions out there but it's tough to beat the
Rem 700. I've shot some mighty fine Winchesters and Savages but
always come back to the Rem 700. My first varmit rifle was a Rem
788 in triple deuce, it was a nice rifle but not as nice as the
       700.

I have to agree...my first varmint gun was the Rem 788 in .243.
Wish I still had that gun. Kick myself for selling it.

That is the exact gun and caliber combo that I've had my eyes on
Bwana! Hopefully you can get some pictures up when you get time
so I can checkout your setup. Glad it's working out well for
       you.
