       Red Fox

I decided to take advantage of the 70 degree weather this
evening and grab my ole 22-250 and head out to one of my
favorite areas to see if I could scope out a groundhog or two.
I parked the truck and walked a few hundred yards to a good
lookout spot where I could see for about 900 yards in one
direction......and about 150 yards to my left and approximately
400 yards to my right. I had my shooting sticks and my favorite
stool. I nestled myself in some brush along a slope and just
enjoyed the evening. Not 20 minutes passed and I spotted a
whistle pig 350 yards and decided to pass on a shot due to a
hefty crosswind. I will save him for tomorrow...hoping for a
closer shot and better conditions. After about an hour had
passed, I spotted this red fox about 125 yards out making it's
way toward me. I watched him for fifteen minutes playing and
catching mice. He came within 35 yards at times. I squeaked
once with my mouth and the dude was out of there in a second.
No shots fired...but a fantastic evening.

Sounds like a great day afield to me. Our weather up here went
sour, mixed sleet and rain over to all snow today with strong
winds. Sure would be nice to see that 70 degree weather for a
       change......

Sounds to me like you need to be packing the ole peestolas for
those up close and personal encounters. Never miss an
opportunity to go Rambo on a varmint....... ;D [/quote]
