22/250 and 52 gr just not killing

       OK Here's the thing;
I have a load that is as accurate as a person could ask for. At
200 yards off a lead sled it will make a raged hole. Way better
then I can shoot off sticks BUT...
I'm finding it is not always killing a coyote. Some of the
recent Misses I've had were not missed, just not kills. Several
I know I have hit,by the way the dog acts. I lets out a yip and
spins or yips jumps and hits mock 3 on the way out of sight. I
have walked out to some where I know I hit them and will see a
tiny amount of blood on the snow,a hit. Recently we ran the said
bullet combo over the MagnetoSpeed to discover it is only going
3200 fps at the barrel. We kind of thought it should be closer
to 35/36. I'm using a match king 52 gr bullet and Varget. On the
dogs it kills there very dead, do you think the bullet is just
slipping through the lungs and out the other side and not
       opining up at all?
We are thinking about speeding it up with a different powder ,
I'm hoping that that is the answer.,.. :P

I would take a look at the bullets. I don't think speed is the
problem. A mere 300 fps cant make that much difference.

Match bullets are designed to preform on paper targets. The
jackets are a bit heavier and not really designed to open up
like a hunting style bullet. I'd try going to a ballistic tip or
hollow point, the results will be much more explosive. If your
worried about hide damage try a 40 gr Nosler ballistic tip over
34 gr of Varget. That'll give you about 3625 fps. Max load for
Varget, Nosler 40gr is 38 gr of powder, that'll move the bullet
out at 4100 fps. On chucks I never had an exit hole beyond 100
       yds.

Hey P, like BW said, appears you are just punching holes through
em. I use metal case rounds but only take head shots with em.
Load out with the ballistic tips, JHP or SP.. I shot a fox one
year across a field at 175 yrds with an FMJ boiler room shot.
Thing ran for 300 yrds before I started seeing any affect. With
the JHP's, go for shots >200yrds, they expand better. Happy
       hunting. DL

I never pushed them that slow but at 3500 to 3600 they kill like
       lightning! I run them in my 22 x 47 Lapua @ 4160 and nothing
survives. With H380 you should easily hit 3700.

Thats just what I'm thinking too.I want to stay with a 52 gr ish
bullet, Wind issue. But more speed is needed. The MK just shoot
SO GOOD. But a blitz should be very similar or a burger would
probably work well too. I have a 60 gr partition load I'm
planing on using for antelope and wolf. I don't care for the V
max or grenades, don't have much experience with it bigger ones
but the 37 and 40 just blow up on the our side of the coyote in
it's heavy winter hair.If the MK hit a bone the dog goes
down, and yes we save the hide so we have to balance that in too.
Thanks you all told me what I already kind of knew.

PB, The bergers seem to have a little heavier jacket than the
match kings. When I was shooting a 22-250 I didnt owne a crono
so I dont know how fast I pushed the 52 MK but I remember it was
a max load of H380. Hogdon shows it to be a little over 3700fps.
I piled up a lot of coyotes with it and most times didint do
much damage.(gut shots got real ugly though).
