Fat Yote!
By: stevec Date: December 23, 2012, 6:50 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
I was on the way to a friends house and spotted two coyotes in a
field next to some public hunting land. I ran home and gathered
my gear and headed back out. As I was pulling up to the public
land I glanced over to the other side of the road and spotted a
55 gal drum on its side. sitting in the end of it are 2 bobcats!
I stopped and watched as the first one steps out and walks to
the wood line. It was short and fat and solid black! A local
land owner had told me about this cat but figured it was
probably a house cat he was seeing. The other was a tall lanky
bobcat and colored like all the others I have seen. They both
made thier way into the timber so I went on to set up on the
coyotes. I set up on the edge of the field I had seen the yotes
in earlier. After about 10 minutes of jackrabbit squalls 2 Bald
Eagles lande in a tree about 100yds out and watched me watch
them for a couple minutes(not very many eagles around here so I
was preetty happy to see them). as soon as the left, I looked
back down the tree line and this fat thing jumped out at about
20yds! I am having the hide tanned, It is very dark compared to
most in this area.
I now have permission to hunt the other side of the road where
the black cat is!

excellent set you had....killed a yote, seen two bobcats and
some eagles. A great day indeed. Thanks for the pics.

If you are lucky enough to get that black bobcat, you definitely
need to mount it.

I hope you get that dude Steve. Throw it in the freezer in a
trash bag if you do...it will keep a year anyway. I know the
members here will chip in some coins on the mount. Good luck and
post a pic if you get it. When I got my cat this season, it
took 45 minutes of various calls to get her to commit. Be
patient with bobcats.
