To Start My Day
By: Yote59 Date: December 22, 2012, 3:11 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Had a late night last night. Me and the wife kept our 9 month
old grand daughter last night until mid-night. Loved every
minute of it let me tell ya. So I slept in till 7:50 a.m. and
rolled out, made the coffee and walked out on the side porch to
look out across the lake and open field by the house and saw a
big coyote trotting across the field. I made a mad dash back in
the house to retrieve the ole 22-250. Back outside...with the
gun to find the coyote had stopped to listen to my german
shepherd bark a few times trying figure out what I was up to. I
took rest off the 6X6 porch post and looked at this beautiful
Coyote standing there head on looking my way. It look like it
was as big as a wolf. I hesitated to pull the trigger. After a
few seconds...maybe 10...I shot....missed. He wheeled a rand
about another 100 yards toward the woods and stopped broadside
and looked back. Shot a second time....another miss. He trotted
off in the woods to live another day. After glassing the
distance....first shot was 261 yards...and the second about 349.
Thinking back....glad I missed. The odds of a clean kill with
a standing shot with no shooting sticks...not good. There will
be another day. ;D ;D
