22 Hornet
By: USARMORER Date: December 17, 2012, 1:26 pm

i had one of these in a Remmy 799 mauser action, beautiful gun.
I got rid of it because the commercial availability of ammo was
terrible. I don't reload :( In lew of this, I bought my 223.
Just checking to see if any of you have any solid experience
with this round? Thanks in advance for your input.. DL

The hornet definitely fills the void between the 22 mag and the
223. With you reloading, options of round selection would be
endless.

I have owned 2, both TC pistols and killed many coyotes with
them. Under 200yds theHornet is awsome. Ofcourse I never shot
that far with the pistols but could shoot 1inch 10 shot groups
at 100yds. I have been craving another but I will go with a
rifle this time.

You mentioned that you bought or are gonna buy a .223.You cant
beat a .223 as ammo up until this horrible incident in
connecticut happened was pletiful and fairly inexpensive but it
is still out there. The ,223 in a good barrel can be easily 1/2
minute of angle or less with good reloads or factory. You simply
cant go wrong with the .223 as it is the most popular .22
caliber round in existence.I only have 7 rifles and pistols in
that caliber.

I have had several 22 hornets, I was not happy with any of them,
I am trying the 17 hornet now. I just got it and so far so good,
but time will tell.
