A Quick Coyote Stand This Evening
       By: Yote59 Date: December 8, 2012, 10:47 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
I hurried home from work this afternoon hoping to get in a quick
stand on some yotes. I slipped on my camo...grabbed my backpack
and the ole fav .22-250 I keep in the reloading room and headed
out. By this time it was 3:30. A slow drizzle was falling with
a 3 mph South wind. My favorite conditions to hunt. I chose a
stand with a roof, located in partially open wooded area. After
setting up the call and climbing up in the stand, I waited for
about 15 mins. and hit the call. I used a few field mouse
squeaks with no luck. Changed to a woodpecker in
distress....nothing. Switched to the ole favorite weems
call.....still nothing. I have hunted this area quiet heavily
in the past two months....and this area is where I took the
Bobcat last week. After 30 mins of calling with no success,
darkness was falling....and the rain was now falling steady...I
headed to the truck. I came home empty, but already looking
forward to early morning where I will greet the sunrise on
       another stand......

Sure beats being a couch potato, even when I don't get a shot
it's been a good hunt. Just being out in the field instead of
being couped up at home makes it a sucess.

I totally agree...I am in the woods and fields everyday. Love
       every minute of it.

This is true. I love every aspect of hunting. The prep...what
to hunt...what gun to use...possible shot distance
involved....type bullet for the job....what stand to
take....wind direction...the whole works. It's all exciting to
       me.
