Mission- 08- Murder and Mayham
By: Kira Phaserman Date: September 18, 2013, 1:16 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Kira walked in to the conference room with a pad in hand. This
was going to be difficult, Joseph's wife, Jenna and their
daughter were no longer on the ship. Jenna had been reassigned
to Earth to work at Star Fleet intelligence as an analyst. This
would keep her and the baby safe but keep them apart.
Kira sat at the head of the table and waited for the others to
arrive.
Zaro was the first to arrive into the room. With salute he
greeted Kira.
"Admiral Ma'am." He said. The wake the events before made his
sigh quiver lightly.
"Hello Lieutenant, doing alright?" Kira asked.
K'Tani walked into the briefing room and took her seat. The
Romulan woman looked around a little nervous. She knew Romulan's
weren't exactly the most welcome of species.
Kira gave a small nod to K'Tani she prayed this would go
smoothly.
TAG ANY
Joseph made it to the briefing room with a few minutes to
spare, he was still upset that Jenna had been transferred,
missing her and his daughter something fierce as he walked in
and sat down with his PADD in one hand and a cup of blood and
coffee in the other. Sitting down near his mother in the typical
XO's place he tapped a few things on his PADD and nodded to his
mother and to Zaro.
Kira glanced over at her son and bit her lip a little she could
sense the emotions rolling off of him. "Captain" she said gently
in way of greeting. Though he was her son she wanted to keep a
professional appearance which was hard when her mother instinct
screamed at her to wrap him up in a hug and comfort him.
Abby was walk reading, trying to catch up a little on reports
when she entered the conference room and nodded to Kira
"Admiral"
Cam arrived at the briefing and took his usual spot at the
table.
Kira glanced around her staff. While there were new faces, most
of them she had served with for many years. Each of them was a
member of her family. Sighing she closed her eyes. "Computer,
seal the room initiate protocol Sigma 9" she said with her eyes
still closed, her ears were laid back and her tail twitched
anxiously.
Protocol Sigma 9 was relatively new she had only ever used it
once before, this ensured that anything said in the room would
not be recorded, the room was sealed, no one in and out, no life
signs could be detected, and forget about a transporter lock on
the room for all intensive purposes this room was off the ships
map. "What I am about to tell you does not leave this room" she
said opening her eyes and making eye contact with each of them.
"Two hours ago I was contacted by command this mission..." Kira
closed her eyes again for a moment. "Everyone has the choice on
this ship to turn and walk away and no one will think less of
you" She was stalling. The last time she had been on a mission
like this she had been a fugitive, left the Federation, become a
Klingon Captain and then been captured and tortured. She didn't
want a repeat of that situation so this mission made her wary.
"There is a coup in the Federation, several attempts have been
made on the President's life. We are going to Earth. We are to
go undercover, track down these would be assassins and kill
them, all of them. There will be no survivors, no interrogation
we are essentially a hit squad. If you wish to walk away I wont
blame you. I wont hold it against you" she looked around at each
of them again.
Joseph gritted his teeth somewhat as he sat there. He said
nothing as to what he was feeling, speaking out loud "You know I
have nothing better to do." letting the sentence trail off a
bit. He then sat back and spoke "Just give me a decent sniper
rifle."
Cam looked at Kira as she gave the run down of the mission, but
it was one he was not expecting. He looked around the table at
everyone himself wondering what they were thinking.
"Alright, Lt. Woods set course for Earth, officially we are
some where behind the front lines. We go on comm black out in
one hour. If you have anyone you want to talk to do it soon."
Kira glanced over at her son.
Abby looks to Cam as if to say call my dad to prepare him "I'll
be in sickbay ma'am prepping my staff and the med kits" Abby
heads to sickbay to do just that and maybe call her mum and
sister.
"You are all dismissed" Kira said remaining in her seat.
Joseph stayed sitting as he watched the rest of the command
staff leave the room. He purposefully avoided looking at his
mother before slowly standing up.

---------------------------------------------------------
Danny walked into the Armory, with the rest of his team in tow.
A young Lance Corporal stood up in the cage. "Sir, what can I do
for you?"
"Grab the Quartermaster." Danny ordered.
"Aye sir." the man said, leaving. a moment later, an older
Marine stepped out, slightly hunched at the shoulders, with
thinning white hair. His uniform showed the rank of Major.
"Ah, Daniel, I was expecting you." He said, his voice having
more than a touch of London in it.
"You're always expecting me," Danny smiled. "For those of you
who don't know him, this is Major Boothroyd, he's my
Quartermaster and quite talented with the gadgetry."
"Flattery will get you nowhere, Daniel, now pay attention." He
said, handing boxes to everyone. "Your field chronometers.
Already synchronized for North American Central Daylight Time."
He said.
"Laser cutting torches or hold-out phasers?" Danny asked
hopefully.
"No, sorry chap, no such luck. But it does feature a built in
emergency transporter tag, pre-set to send you directly to
sick-bay. Doctor Locktight, you can also download medical data
from your medical tricorder to the chrono, so your team up here
has a leg up."
"which will enable me to conceal the fact I'm scanning someone,
I could just be looking at my watch"
"Now the next thing. Daniel, you'll hold on to this. Looks like
a standard everyday desk clock, but it's filled with a highly
effective plastic explosive, indetectable except by specific
tricorder scans. Place it where you want it, set the timer, and
walk away."
"An alarming device." Danny deadpanned
"Oh Daniel, always trying to be funny." The Major said. "Now
then, Your commbadges please." Boothroyd said, taking the
devices into posession. He handed everyone a small box. Inside
was an ear piece and a discrete throat mic. "These comm systems
are stealthier than standard commbadges, and preset to a
specially encoded frequency outside of the usual RF and Subspace
ranges. Finding the frequency will be difficult enough.
Unscrambling it...Well, forget about it."
"Anything else?" Danny asked, hopefully.
"That's all I have. But remember, I want the watches and
communicators back. If you break my equipment, the enemy will be
the least of your problems!"
"Of course."
Del steps forward with his commbadge and hands it to the
Quartermaster. He looks longingly at the explosive clocks. "I
would greatly like to requests a double quantity of those
please." He asks with a great big smile. "Never hurts to be
prepared." also, when we get back from mission, I'd like to have
a chat with you. If your time can permit, Major Boothroyd." he
places the comm device on and steps back for the others.
"A double dose of exploding timepieces...yes I think I can have
the boys put together a few more. And when you get back, just
drop in." Boothroyd said.
Del looks over at Danny, "Sorry Sir, I kinda got addicted to
explosives at this hell hole of a planet I was on. It's where I
met a few of the new crew at." He smiles before returning his
attention back to the other members of the team.
Abby hands over her comm. badge "Del remind me to show you the
specs for the exploding portable holo-emitter I surprised the
Banor with"
Kira walked into the armory, "Commodore Tellok, sorry but you
will need to remain we seem to be having a problem in
engineering" she said.
Del raises an eyebrow, he instantly thought of Shaye when
engineering was mentioned. he smiles before returning his
attention to the mission.
"We should probably get out of our uniforms" Killien mentioned
off handedly.
"yeah we should, we'd blend in better if we did"
Killien hurried back to her quarters and changed into the usual
undercover civilian outfit she pulled her hair back and made
sure to grab enough serum for a week. Then headed for the
transporter room.
Del rushes to his quarters and grabs the clothes he hasn't worn
in almost 10 years. after a quick change, he heads to the
transporter room wearing long pants the color of the midnight
sky on a starless night, a shirt that is as black as a black
hole and a duster the same color with a slit sewn into it for
the handle of his sword to peek out of. To top it off, a wide
brimmed hat.
Danny returned to his quarters and looked over his civilian
clothes. He decided he needed something that didn't scream
military, so he replicated a pair of work jeans, working boots,
and a button-up, rugged shirt. putting on the ensemble, he
decided with a few days away from his razor he might pass for a
construction worker. Throwing on a carhart jacket and sliding
his Hush Puppy into a custom holster, he headed for the
transporter room.
Abby headed to her quarters, ignoring the blinking console she
changed into the clothes she normally wore on Earth with a
difference, a jacket her father gave her years ago "good to see
it still fits" Abby had modified it slightly to conceal weapons
or other items, she concealed just about everything the marine
quartermaster gave her, also a type one phaser and set the
medical tricorder to am encrypted continuous scan and headed to
the transporter room
When the cheif looked up, Danny handed him a set of
coordinates. "+42.378997,-88.089785? Okay."
Del nods to the chief as he takes his place on the pad and
awaits for the transport. He was excited about his first mission
on this ship but was also nervous that he might not live up to
what was expected of him. He sends out a thought to his son to
let him know that he loved him dearly.
Killien stepped onto the pad next to Del she glanced over at
him then at Danny "Ready when you are sir"
Del looks over at Killien and smiles as he reaches out and
takes her hand, giving it a brief squeeze before looking to
Danny. "Ready when ever the Doc arrives Sir."
The transporter chief nodded to the team "Good luck,
energizing"

Re: Mission- 08- Murder and Mayham
By: Kira Phaserman Date: October 9, 2013, 9:16 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Once the quick mission briefing had ended, Joseph spoke
"Alright. Meet at the Security Armory in fifteen minutes. I
would suggest heading back to your quarters and changing in to
civvies. Grab anything you think you might need as well. Who
knows when we will be coming back to the V."
As soon as he finished he started for the door and walked to
the closest turbolift. He wanted to be the first to the armory
after changing so he would have time to grab his personal
sidearms and take time to clean them and replicate some
ammunition for it.
Shaye was quick about retrieving her purse. Everything she
needed was in that little bag and the controls for every bit
were strapped to her wrist and programmed and coded for
protection. She changed into something a little less
authoritative then her uniform, swapping her boots for her
running shoes and a nice fresh spring dress over shorts just
long enough to cover her thigh holster. She finished it off with
a light over coat that's only purpose was to hide the ink on her
shoulders. This done she took a quick look was happy she looked
like any other causal girl down bellow. Then from her bag of
unpacked items she withdrew several tiny black boxes. She took
the time to program the frequency of the Comm into one box then
with drew a set of earrings that would replace the said Comm for
the mission. The Comm its self was tucked down her bra in case
they needed to beam her out. From anther case she pulled out a
silvery case with tiny mechanical winged bugs lined up inside of
it. Using her code pad she activated three of her ten and tucked
them into her purse as well. Her final piece she slid into her
leg holster with a grin. It was her "Tork". although it still
had its bugs to be worked out the little pistol looking weapon
was far more then met the eye, Its special little cartilages
where held in converted clips that she had also tucked in her
purse. Any one looking inside at a glance would think it a bag
full of junk. The purse itself had even once served as a weapon,
Its strap was reinforced to work as a garrote. Then set off to
meet up with the rest of the team.
Gary got to his quarters and changed out of his uniform,
trading it for a pair of jeans, a nice shirt, and a hat that his
son in law Praxis had given him, for the professional football
team he had played for. He decided the fanboy look might come in
handy, depending on where they were going, so he threw a few
team-logo shirts, and in a special space-saving garment bag,
threw in a set of formal clothes. most of the gear he chose was
relatively comfortable in most weather. He left shorts at home,
hoping to avoid giving away his artificial leg. Lastly, he
opened a safe hidden behind his uniforms in the closet and
pulled out a pair of valderan revolver-type projectile pistols.
the weapons were chambered in an old but well respected caliber,
12.2x35mm with a 4.5 inch barrel. each weapon had the advantage
of speed-loading by replacing the cylinders completely, so he
grabbed six additional cylinders and also replicated 100
additional rounds of ammunition. he placed the revolvers on low
torso sling holsters, and threw on a windbreaker, hiding the
pistols easily against his large frame.
He arrived at the armory a few moments later, looking around,
and said to Shaye, "Just waiting for the rest of the kids?"
"Yeah, Seems that way." Shaye replied as she stroked Maxies
furry head nervously. Missions always made her nervous there was
soo much that could go wrong. She put on her happy face though
this was some one she had not yet met. Sure she had read what
little there had been offered in his service record, but a
recorded does not really define a person. So she took the time
to study his brown eyes, and salt and pepper like hair before
offering him her hand. "I am Shaye Glymer, I guess if we are
going to work together and maybe even bleed a bit together we
might as well get a good idea of whom we are working with." She
said her hand poised and waiting.
Kira walked in and walked up to Gary she kissed him then pulled
back, "Be careful down there John and I will be waiting for you
to get back and when this is all over we are taking a little
shore leave as a family. Was thinking Disney Land" Kira said to
her husband. "Agent Glymer" she said turning and seeing Shaye
and her dog. "Have you met my husband yet? I was just stopping
by to see him off. Gary this is SCIS Agent Shaye Glymer and her
partner Agent Maxie, Agent Glymer this is my husband His Royal
Highness Lt. Colonel Gary Phaserman our hot shot fighter pilot
CO." she purred.
Shaye "Oh rainbows! I am so sorry. It is an honor to meet you
sir. Might I apologize for my ignorance " She replied giving a
deep bow from the waste, Feeling more then a bit modified and
quite stupid for offering a royal her hand. She gave herself a
mental face palm, when outwardly she held onto her smile and
grasp what dignity she had left in this first impression.
Kira laughed, "No need to apologize, Gary is a prince of the
Valderan Empire and I the future empress of the Kntarian people.
However we are first and foremost Starfleet officers. Royal
Titles around here are just that a title. You arn't expected to
treat us like royalty leave that to our species around here hes
Lt Colonel Phaserman and I am Admiral Phaserman."
Joseph walked in to the armory and saw that Shaye, his
stepfather, and his mother were all in the same room. He perked
his brow some and grinned. Walking over to the replicator he
tapped on the display and brought up his own replicator
patterns, proceeding to replicate some ammunition for his
weapon. Turning around as it replicated He watched them all
interact, also watching the Agent's K-9 sit there. He walked
over after grabbing his ammo and spoke "Don't worry mom. I'll
make sure dad two makes it back in one piece."
Looking over at Shaye and her K-9 Maxie, Joseph approached
slowly. Although for half of him it was instinctual to hate
dogs, he had always tried to get over it. He stood before her
and spoke "May I?" holding his hand out to her dog slowly so as
not to upset Maxie.
Shaye felt her smile almost launch off her face. "Feel free to.
If she was not under orders to sit right there, you would not
have to ask she would be petting you already." She said as she
watched Maxies head stretching out to sniff and tongue lapin out
into the open space as she tried to lick his fingers across the
small space, all while trying to keep her fuzzy butt still on
the floor. "I don't think she's going to mind at all." Shaye
chuckled.
Joseph smiled and moved his hand closer, allowing Maxie to
sniff and lick his hand. He then slowly moved the hand up and
started scratching gently behind the dogs ear "She's a good dog.
You've got her trained well Agent Glymer." Smiling as he said
it. Slowly he stood back up after giving the animal some
attention and proceeded to start loading his ammunition
magazines. He sat down to do this all the while listening to the
others talk. When he was done, he stood up and stowed the
weapons in their designated spots, a shoulder holster underneath
his jacket for the pistol and three double occupancy pouches for
the mags. He even stowed a couple of spares in his bag that he
threw over his shoulder.
Zaro had entered the armory in a classy style outfit. Nothing
too fancy, a burgeny shirt with jeans and shoes. watched as
Joseph pet Maxie and couldn't help but smile. Made him miss his
pet cat, Iris.
Joseph had been reading over his PaDD quickly when Zaro
entered. He nodded to the man and grinned slightly. He had seen
how he had been interacting with his little brother and was glad
for it. He then spoke "Welcome to the fun my friend. Grab a
party favor eh?" indicating the weapons lockers.
"I always favor a .45." Zaro commented with a grin as he
grabbed a phaser pistol. The phasers were nothing compared to
firing the actual ballistic weaponry. True, they were outdated
and low powered against threats nowadays, but there was always
something about using the old school guns.
"Would love to have a rifle tho." He said as he eyed the weapon
locker.
Joseph grinned a bit and spoke "Plenty of choices in there
Lieutenant Woods. Take whatever you fancy." He then moved around
the armory some, checking the chronometer on the wall and
wondering where Cam was.
Saylin grinned as he looked into the weapon's locker. He eyed a
compactable, smg, the kind that could fit in a pocket that was
big enough. He grabbed two of them and put them into a bookbag,
alo with it's accompanied rounds.
When everyone was geared up Joseph led them to the transporter
room. "Team 1 lets do this" he said and waited until everyone
was on the transporter padd. "Energize"

They materalized on Earth on the out skirts of New York City.
Joseph looked around then at his PADD. "We have a bit of a hike
make sure all your gear is hidden and lets keep a low profile."
he said looking at each of them.
"Low profile is easy...its the noise that'll happen when we find
the target." Zaro said as he shuffled his bookbag to his back.
He then looked at the New York cityscape that colored the
distance.
"...Didn't remember the big apple being this big the first time
I've been here." he commented.
Joseph grinned slightly and tugged at his pack a bit as he spoke
"True. It sure as hell is big... Just means we have to be extra
vigilant in finding our quarry." Looking around some he spoke "I
have to say it looks a hell of a lot better than Rochester... My
fathers home town. Bout 530 kilometers from here. Crappiest city
I have ever been to. The Eastern Coalition was not nice to that
city..." referencing a post World War III government group.
Shaking his head he got himself back on task and looked at the
others speaking softly "Spread out. Making it look like we are
on a parade grounds here..."
"Get that Empire State of mind going, kids." Gary said. "I grew
up in a city about the same size as this place. You can find a
little bit of everything in the Urban Jungle. Just try not to
look too...touristy."
"Might be abit too late for some of us." Zaro commented.
Blending wasn't too much of a problem for him, but being fresh
from space, there wasn't anyway they weren't gonna have the
Tourist tagged to their collar. As he made his way out from the
group, he took a mental note of where everyone was or their
general area at least.

Killien looked around as they materalized. "Welcome to Chicago."
she said looking at Danny.
Del steps up next to Killien and Danny with the case containing
Missy in hand. "What are our orders Sir?"
Killien tucked away her weapons and looked around. "If I
remember quickly we need to head towards the Sears Tower." she
said looking to Danny for confirmation.
"Actually, we're going to stay in the suburbs. Right now we're
in Round Lake. Intelligence indicates that the assassins are
hanging out here, training in this area. It's fairly rural
around here, but first thing's first." Danny said, turning away
from the intersection and pointing to a small shop nearby. "I
need some pie. Follow me." Danny said, heading towards Pierce's
Pastries and Bakeries.
Killien looked over at Del and Abby and mouthed, "pie?" a little
confused. "Sir, do we really have time for pie?" she asked in a
hushed voice. "Shouldn't we find these guys? Those were our
orders." Killien said quickly.
"We have time." Danny said, opening the door. "Daniel!" yelled
the man behind the counter.
"Frank, how's it going?" He said.
"It's going good. Business is good, family is good. Would you
believe I have another grandson on the way? Hell I just found
out a little while ago that Johnny Roberts is Ben's boy. Now Ben
and Ashlie are expecting. It's crazy, I tell ya. So what brings
you in today?"
"Shore leave." He said with a wink. "Where are my manners. Frank
Pierce, this is Commander Locktight, Major Darkshadow, and
Ensign Cole, some shipmates of mine." Danny said introducing
them in order of rank. "This is Frank Pierce. His son is Colonel
Ben Pierce, from 1st Special Missions Unit and the Special Ops
Brigade XO."
Abby looked at Frank "pleasure Mr. Pierce"
Tag
Frank sat down next to Danny. "You know, Daniel, I sent a letter
to Ben a few days ago." His voice hushed now, even though the
bakery was fairly empty, "There's been some strange folks
hanging around. We don't get too many out of towners around
Round Lake. Sure they pass through on their way to the Chain, or
maybe heading down to the City," He said refering to the Chain
O' Lakes park, a summer recreational hotspot, and Chicago,
respectively. "But these guys, they act like tourists, but don't
seem to care about the usual touristy stuff. Asking about wierd
stuff, like shooting ranges and hunting stores. Not many out of
towners buy their gear on-site, see? I hunt regularly, but I've
got my gear, and I get it from a few places close to home. I've
never heard of anyone shopping for sporting rifles on-location."
"What kind of sporting rifles? Are we talking short range,
varminting kits? Deer guns?" Danny asked.
"Long range stuff. Scoped weapons. Kind of thing you might want
to use in Africa or some dangerous off-world game. Not here in
the midwest." Frank shook his head. "Just ain't right."
Danny looked to Killien. "You were saying, Ensign?"
"~sounds like we definitely have time for pie~ no it's not,
unless they were planning some sort of hunting trip"
Killien frowned "If you had read my report you would have seen
that I already noted that." she said under her breath, "Sir, we
really should be going, we have those uhh tickets for the show"
Danny looked at his wrist chronometer. "One small slice for
everyone. Then we'll be going."
Frank whispered to Danny, "I take it this isn't exactly a
pleasure cruise?"
"Not entirely. We'll be looking into what you told me. Just...do
me a favor...if anyone asks, we weren't here. YOu know the
drill."
"Certainly." Frank said. Given that his son, daughter in law,
and grandson all served in one of the Federation's most
secretive units, Danny was willing to take Frank at his word.
After the pie, Danny stepped outside and lit a Kurji. So,
Ensign...where do you suspect we'll find our Assassins?"
Killien pulled out her scanner, "Looks like they are located in
an abandoned section of the city. North East about 5 clicks."

Re: Mission- 08- Murder and Mayham
By: Kira Phaserman Date: October 9, 2013, 9:20 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Kira walked with Baj to main engineering, "I was informed that
the environmental systems are going haywire, the replicators on
half the ship are down and the water for the pool is now
floating around the room. Don't even get me started on the baths
they are down and sonic showers are rupturing ear drums." Kira
said explaining all the issues. "What's more, the computer seems
to have developed a snarky personality and is swearing and
refusing to do stuff for the crew. You designed this thing fix
it" then she added "please"
Baj frowned deeply as he listened to the list of problems, "That
doesn't make any sense. There must be something wrong with the
main computer." He muttered something to himself about the
goddamn gel packs.
"Great just what we need, so far the transporters and cloak
still work but if the cloak goes offline we are screwed with the
undercover bit. I need it fixed and fast. I know you are a
little shorthanded and with Lela gone... Anyway, I am willing to
help anyway I can just tell me how I can help." she said
glancing over at him as they walked into engineering.
"Keeping the cloak up should be our priority then." He kept his
mind on the task at hand, trying not to think of Lela at the
moment. Having her around would be useful right about now. "Let
start a level 3 diagnostic on the environmental controls first
though. If those go out completely, we are going to have a hard
time doing much else."
"Alright" Kira said walking over to the console for
environmental controls. She tried to ignore the kicking twins as
she tapped a few commands in. "Do it yourself" the computer said
after a moment. Kira bit her lip trying not to laugh.
"I think the computer is getting lazy" Kira said looking over at
Baj.
Baj snapped around and looked at Kira and her console, "What
the hell?" He moved over to another console and tried to access
the main computer's primary systems.
"What do I look like your slave?" the computer asked.
"Perhaps we should go down to the main computer core" Kira
suggested
Baj nodded, stepping back and away from the console, "We need to
figure out who has been messing with my computer and what they
did to it." He was getting angry, how dare someone try to alter
his systems.
Kira nodded and followed him, "If this is sabotage... I'll
murder the person that did it" she said. Kira walked with him
out to the turbo lift as they stepped in she looked over at him.
"We haven't had a lot of time to talk when this is over with we
should."
He looked at her and thought a moment before nodding and asking,
"About something in particular?" He hoped not, he had been
avoiding thinking about anything that had happened lately,
throwing himself at his work.
"Well you know, Lela leaving, the fact that in less than a month
you're going to have two more children. I know you are still
angry with me for turning Mara... Am I missing anything?" she
looked over at him as they rode the lift. She grabbed his hand
and placed it on her stomach where one of the babies was
kicking. "You know you missed this with Lela..." she said trying
not to cry she hated hormones.
Baj felt the baby kick and jumped a little. He looked down at
his hand. It hadn't seemed as real before. He shook his head,
"No, you aren't missing anything. I-" The turbolift opened and
he straightened, "We... we need to fix the computer."
Kira let his hand go and nodded "Lead the way" she said trying
to keep her voice even. Truth was she was jealous as hell of
Mara; he would be there to help her raise their children. She
had been alone until she met Gary but Gary wasn't Lela's father
and Lela hadn't seemed to connect with I’m the way she had with
Baj now. They walked in silence to the main computer core. Kira
stopped outside and entered her code the doors parted and she
stepped in. "If someone messed with the main computer we should
be able to determine who it was, I mean you have to have an
access code to get in here." she looked around, she didn't know
what she had been expecting. A neon sign that said this is what
was wrong would have been great but that would have made their
life easier.
Baj frowned, "We would be able to check the logs if the
computer were obeying commands." He knelt and opened a panel,
revealing a massive bank of bioneural gel packs, "Even if there
is nothing here, we need to check the other core."
"Gotta admit whoever did this has one hell of a sense of humor"
she said grabbing a tool kit and a med kit then walked over and
knelt next to him. She pulled out the medical tricorder and
handed it to him. "Let's make sure it's not an infection in the
gel packs" she suggested.
Baj sighed as he took the tricorder and started scanning the
packs, "That’s the problem with advancing technology, it’s
always more prone to problems." He muttered something about
needing medical training to just to handle something as simple
as managing computer systems.
"I could arrange for you to receive medical training" Kira said
watching him work. "Perks of being the Fleet Admiral. Anything?"
she asked hoping it would be something as simple as an
infection.
He shook his head, "Nothing in this core anyway. We still need
to check the core for the other section. Even if this one is
acting fine, the other one could be causing all sorts of
issues."

Kira nodded, "Let's hope we find something and can fix it" she
said pulling herself up with the help of a console.
Baj closed the panel and stood, closing the medical tricorder,
"If the problem isn't here, it has got to be in the other core."
He headed for the door.
Kira nodded and followed him to the turbolift, the lift door
didn’t open and Kira almost ran into it. Frustrated she growled,
“Guess we take the long way.” Kira said moving over to a hatch.
Had she not been pregnant this wouldn’t have bothered her but
this far along climbing through the bowels of the ship was not
something she looked forward to.
He sighed, frustrated, "If the turbolifts aren't working,
systems must be shutting down. We may not have much time until
the cloak drops." He thought for a moment as he helped open the
hatch, "In fact, we have no way of knowing if its still up at
this point."
“You had to go and say that didn’t you, and if that is down
communications maybe down if our people get in trouble… or if
our cloak is down this whole mission is blown.” Kira kicked the
bulkhead “Damnit” she swore, “Let’s hurry up” she said crawling
into the tube.
Closing the hatch behind him, Baj hurried after Kira, muttering
possible system components that could be causing so many issues,
"..voice interface...remote system access...tubrolifts..." He
raised his voice so Kira could here, "We may need to open the
doors manually when we get there."
"Yeah, already thought of that" Kira said crawling. She winced
when one of the twins delivered a blow to her ribs. "Not how I
invisioned spending my day" she said coming to a ladder and
climbing down they had to get to the beta section. "Baj" she
said looking up at him. "Baj you know I am so sorry for not
finding you sooner.." she didn't know why she was saying it but
while not her fault she was still felt responsiable for the
amount of time he was forced to stay with the borg, "and I'm
sorry for forcing vamprism on you" she said again. Her hormones
were wreacking havoc on her emotions and she was having to fight
back tears that she didn't know where they were coming from.
Baj stopped and looked down at Kira, his brow furrowed, "What
are you talking about? You saved me from the Borg. You didn't
even know..." He shook his head as he started climbing again,
"Besides, that was a long time ago."
Kira couldn’t help the tears rolling down her face but she
continued to climb down. “not that long ago, not for those of us
who live forever” she muttered when she reached the right floor
she opened a small storage container and pulled out a small
device which she pressed against the hatch. Wrapping one arm and
leg around the stairs she she tried to force the hatch open.
“damnit” she said grunting as the door inched open. She kept
her leg warpped around the stairs and used both hands to force
the it the rest of the way open.
Baj followed her into the corridor, glancing at her curiously,
"That may be, but I haven't been living forever for very long."
He would ask where all this was coming from, but they had a
major problem to fix that was getting worse. The questions would
have to wait until later. He lead the way toward the beta
computer core.
Kira followed she kept the door opener with her. When they
arrived kira placed device on the door when it wouldn’t open.
“I’ll get it open a little ways a little help would be nice” she
said looking over at him.
Baj nodded and moved into position. He knew better than to offer
to do it for her, even if she was pregnant.
"On three" she said bracing herself, "One...two...three" Kira
pushed on the door on one side as Baj pried open the other side.
The door opened and Kira relaxed, doubled over panting. "Go on
I'll catch up" she said taking a deep breath.
Baj moved to help brace her, "Are you ok?" It wasn't like her to
have trouble with physical activities, or at least show it.
"You trying being pregnant with twins" she said waving him off.
She slowly straightened up and slowly headed inside the computer
core. "Alright, what do you need me to do"
He shook his head, "I would really rather not." He moved to a
panel and pointed to another, "Open up that panel and scan it.
Hopefully we find something"
Kira nodded, and walked over to the panal and opened it. She
began scanning looking for anything. "Not seeing anything you?"
Baj opened the panel, frowning at the readout on his tricorder,
"I think so. Could you come look at this?" He seemed rather
troubled and a little confused.
Kira walked over to Baj and looked at it, "Is it supposed to
look like that?" she asked looking over the jel pack.
He shook his head, "Not at all. It looks like the bio matter in
the gel pack is being converted into a different structure." His
frown deepened, "It is actually reading as a lifeform."
"What kind of lifeform?" Kira asked moving closer to get a
better look.
"I haven't seen one like this before," He paused, "but I am not
exactly an expert on lifeforms. It is very faint and seems to be
growing slowly, feeding off the energy being provided to the gel
pack. I'm not sure it would survive if we remove the gel pack to
replace it..." He looked at Kira.
"Damn" she said, "I was afried you would say that, anyway we can
isolate it? Give it enough power to survive but keep it from
interfering with the rest of the ships systems?" Kira asked
Baj nodded, "I can, but I would have to disconnect the whole
bank of them, so it will affect ships systems. Slower response
times, less reliablity of the systems, especially for the beta
section if we separate." He looked at the tricorder again, as if
to be sure he was actually seeing what he had seen, "I can work
on getting a secondary bank of gel packs up after I isolate this
one."
"Alright, then we need to get to work, no MVAM until we get this
sorted out. We will need to figure out how to get these out
without killing the life form. That may have to wait till Abby
gets back." Kira sighed.
