Background Information
Born in Northern Illinois in 2350, Daniel Hardfighter attended
High School in Zion, Illinois with his brother Praxis and long
time friend Col. Thomas Westover (Commander, 1st Marine
Division, LFMC). Daniel was a standout scholar and athlete,
competing in multiple sports at the varsity level.
Upon acceptance to the Academy, Daniel chose the Marine Option
for his career path, electing to major in Military Theory and
Ground Warfare Doctrines. At the Academy, Danny excelled again.
He graduated third in his class, the highest placement for a
Marine Officer in the Academy's history.
In 2372, Daniel graduated and was commissioned as a Second
Lieutenant in the Marines, undergoing further training to
qualify for Marine Officer Specialty 0312, Marine Infantry
Officer.
Just prior to the declaration of war with the Dominion, Danny
was promoted to First Lieutenant and became a Platoon Leader
with 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment. Shortly before the 1st
Marines transfered to the front, Danny was offered a commission
as a Captain with the newly formed Army of the Federation, and a
Company command. Although many Marine Officers took the
opportunity to join the ARFED at advanced rank, Danny declined
the offer and remained in the Corps.
By early 2374, casualties among Marine Officers had been heavy,
and Danny, with just two years in service, was leading Echo
Company, 2-1. in March, he was officially promoted to the rank
of Captain. Later in the year, after the 1st Battle of
Chin'Toka, Danny was moved up to Battalion level, as the
Battalion Fire Support Officer. by January, 2375, Danny was
promoted to Major and given command of 1st Battalion, 1st Marine
Regiment. During the Battle of Cardassia, Major Hardfighter led
The Spearhead Battalion in a bayonette charge against Jem'Hadar
and Breen Soldiers who were massacering Cardassian Civilians.
Danny was wounded in the leg by a Jem'Hadar Bayonette during the
assault, but continued to lead the Battalion until the Dominion
Forces surrendered.
After the war, Danny applied for and was accepted to the Marine
Corps Special Operations School at Twentynine Palms, California,
Earth. Upon completion of the course, Major Hardfighter was
assigned as Commanding Officer, Squadron C, Special Operations
Battalion Six. In 2378, he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel,
and served as Battalion Executive Officer for SOB-6. In 2380,
after a spirited and violent fight with insurgents on Muruk Al
Imbidi in the Beta Quadrant, Danny was promoted meritoriously to
Colonel, and assigned as Commander, Special Operations Battalion
4.
In 2384, Danny was promoted to Brigadier General, and assumed
command of Special Operations Regiment 2, including Special
Operations Battalions 2, 4, 5 and 9. He remained in that post
for one year, until being assigned to Lima Fleet, as the
director of Marine Special Operations, and Executive Officer,
USS Veroto, a post he would relinquish to Commodore Baj Tellok,
but assume periodically over the next three years.
Strengths: Daniel is an intelligent Marine and a strong leader.
His leadership style is always from the front, and would never
send a Marine to do a job he would not himself do.
Weaknesses: Danny can sometimes be pig-headed and arrogant. He
knows when he is right, and sometimes takes issue admitting he
is wrong. His bravado sometimes gets the better of him.
Personality: Danny has a penchant for practical jokes and a
humorous side, but when it comes to work he is all business. He
has in the past been known as a lady's man, although recent
developments are changing that.
