       Re: Mission-01-The Wishing Well
By: Lela Phaserman Date: October 28, 2011, 7:20 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Lela opened her eyes a few hours later, surprised to find the
comfort and warmth of Danny's arms still wrapped around her. She
didn't move, she wanted this to last. He snored a little and
Lela bit back a giggle. He was so peaceful when he slept. The
years of combat, of seeing death and pain were erased off his
face. He looked serene. Lela knew that the past few days had
been especially hard on Danny then to throw him into the middle
of this. He hadn't had the time to grieve for his fallen
comrades nor decompress from the fight. Lela felt stupid, she
felt selfish and wanted nothing more then to beat herself up.
She had put all of this on him.
Lela slowly extricated herself from his arms, it was the last
thing she wanted to do but she had something she wanted to do
for him. Moving over to the replicator she replicated some baggy
cloths for herself and went into his bathroom to shower.
When she was clean and dressed she felt somewhat normal but very
hungry. She put aside her wants and needs and returned to her
task at hand. She walked into his bedroom. It was very neat and
well kept. She went to the closet and pulled out fresh clothing
for him she placed them and a towel in the bathroom for him.
After she was done that she returned to the front room and
walked into the kitchen she made fresh coffee knowing that the
smell would wake him if he was like any other marine she knew.
Danny stirred on the couch surprised to see Lela already dressed
and in the kitchen. “Lele what are you doing?” He asked trying
       to shake the groggyness out.
“There are fresh cloths and a towel laid out for you in the
bathroom, I thought you might appreciate a shower before
breakfast. If you hurry you should be done by the time I am done
making it” Lela said gathering the ingredients together for a
home made human breakfast. “An omelet with ham, cheese, spinach,
and onions. With a side of bacon, sausage, whole wheat toast,
and to drink coffee” She looked up at him. “If that is okay?”
“It sounds wonderful” he smiled and headed off to the bathroom.
Lela hummed to herself as she prepared the food as she laid it
out on plates and set the table Danny walked out of the
       bathroom.
“That smells fantastic” he said sitting down a crossed from her.
“Where did you learn to cook?” He asked
“My mother taught me, this is one of Jazmyn and I's favorite
breakfasts we make it every time she visits. “ Lela said looking
up at him as he took a bite. “How is it?”
“It taste just as good as it smells if not better” he smiled and
took a gulp of his coffee. “You sure know the way to a marines
       heart, good chow...”
“and coffee” Lela finished his sentence. He had come up with
another general rule for the marines not to get in between the
       general and his coffee.
“Thank you for breakfast but why go through all this trouble you
could have replicated something.” Danny said eyeing her.
“I just, well I got to thinking this morning how utterly selfish
and pathetic I have been.” she said with a shrug.
“Oh how so?” Danny raised an eye brow.
“Well, you were just involved in a huge battle were 100's of
lives were lost, you come home expecting to have time to
decompress and grieve for your lost comrades and maybe play a
game or two with 11 year old Lela. Maybe prank a new officer or
two. However when you arrive home you come to find out that your
young friend is suddenly and rapidly aging before your very
eyes. However that's not the worst of it. She suddenly becomes
so hormonal and she pushes you and pushes you into something you
are not ready to deal with nor should you have to deal with.
However you try, you try to understand what shes going through
to be there for her cause you know that she is supposed to be
your future wife. You have been her friend and mentor for 5
years and after all if you can't understand her and help her
then who can. How am I doing so far?”
Danny was speechless as Lela continued.
“So you stay up all night with her, until she has a spaz attack
cuts almost all her hair off and oh breaks a knuckle or two in
her hand. So again you try to understand you take her for food
and let her crash at your place but instead of leaving her to
sleep on the couch you spend the rest of the night holding her
because shes to afraid to be alone. All the while you have not
had one moment to yourself to deal with ANY of the things that
have been going on in your life.”
Danny really looked at her for the first time and noticed that
she had yet again grown. She was taller about 5'9'' now her hair
which had been really short had now grown some it still looked
choppy and uneven. She looked older her face having matured some
in the time they slept she looked more along the lines of about
18 now. Danny realized then that this more grown up attitude had
to do with the two years she had aged in her sleep. He couldn't
tell about the rest of her since she hid herself in baggy
cloths. “It is not often I am rendered speechless Lela but you
have effectively accomplished that” he said shaking his head.
“Today, I am going to take care of you, if you need to talk,
sleep, go work out what ever you want we will do today. My
mother told me you are not on the crew rotation today you still
are technically on assignment until the day after tomorrow. Is
there anything in particular you would like to do?” She asked.
“I appreciate that really I do, but I still have
responsibilities I have to go down to my office for a little
while and do some paper work I had a new first sergeant report
aboard that I need to meet. It would be pretty boring for you”
       Danny smiled a little.
“Boring, that sounds nice right about now. Maybe I can do a
little work out while I wait for you, I need to start working on
getting stronger right? I think Lt. Reynolds would be more then
willing to help me out with my work out now” she said referring
to one of his more amorous officers. He was reputed to be a
       player and ladies man.
“Reynolds, please tell me you are kidding. I might have to hurt
him if he laid a hand on you” Danny said gritting his teeth.
“Last I checked Danny, you wanted to take things slow. You
didn't say we were dating” Lela got to her feet and walked over
to the replicator to replicate some work out cloths. “Unless you
would like to change that I don't see how its your business if
he does lay a hand on me.” Lela said. Lela replicated a pair of
baggy sweat pants and a baggy t shirt.
“Well, first, Reynolds is a pig.” Danny said. “Second, Dating
you or not, it's still my job to look after you, and Reynolds is
bad news. All he wants is...well, sex. He has no interest in
women aside from their anatomical parts.”
“So if I decide to sleep with Reynolds you would have some kind
of objection. I don't think it is any of your business.” Lela
looked at him as she replicated another set of work out cloths
this time she went with short shorts and tank top choosing those
she walked into the bathroom and changed. “I would prefer to
lose my virginity to someone I love but then again why shouldn't
I play the field if I'm not tied down to someone. You did it
with other women” Lela said accusingly.
Danny had a hard time keeping his eyes off Lela's body in the
skimpy workout outfit. “Okay, yes, I have had sexual encounters
with women based more on lust...and perhaps intoxication...than
any real attraction or emotional bond. It happens. And no,
there's nothing wrong with exploring your sexuality...and...”he
said, a bit exasperated at this point, “no, you're right, it's
ABSOLUTELY none of my business. But, then, if I went back to
Koliath and racked out with General Bauer again, wouldn't YOU be
       a bit jealous?”
“Would I perhaps but I am not tied to you as of this moment and
so therefore it would be none of my business, you told me that
we had to take things slow. I accepted that, but that doesn't
mean I have to sit here and twiddle my thumbs until you are
ready to finally accept me as this.” she gestured to herself.
“In the mean time, I am going to go work out on the marine deck
where I always do. If Reynolds happens to be there and hits on
me I may just flirt with him.”
Danny stood and took Lela around the waist. “I guarantee that
you would not flirt with HIM first,” Danny said, and kissed her
on the forehead. “Only 2nd Platoon is working out today,
anyways, and Reynolds is in 1st Platoon. He's off until
tomorrow.” Danny said with a smile. As annoying as he found Lt.
John Reynolds, the man was a real asset under fire, and an
excellent team leader, which was why he was with 1-Delta.
Lela wasn't fazed in the least “I think that when you present it
to me that way I may take it as a challenge and as you know
Daniel Hardfighter, I never back down from a challenge. I know
exactly where his quarters are.” Lela looked at him pointedly.
She really had no intention of having anything to do with
Reynolds this was more of a ploy to make Danny jealous and it
was working like a charm. “Maybe I should swing by on my way
down to the Marine deck. I'm sure if I showed up looking like
this he would gladly help me with my training, wouldn't you
       say?”
Danny shrugged, trying to hide his jealousy. He looked at her
ass as she walked towards the door. “Wait, you...ah..you aren't
wearing panties.” He said with a grin.
“Damn right thought Reynolds might like that” Lela grinned
       wickidly.
“Forget Reynolds,” Danny said. “Let's go below.” He held her
hand as they walked to the turbolift. “Now, you are a bit
underweight for the Marines. We have to bulk you up. Lots of
Burgers, pizza, and muscle building workouts. We can work on
cardio later.” Danny was still fascinated by the fact that she
wasn't wearing underwear. “You know, we may not be together...”
he started, not sure where he wanted to go with this.
Lela knew what he was doing but she wasn't going to stop him she
would rather have spent time with him anyway. “starting my
training so soon Danny” she smiled and looked him over. Even in
his uniform he was undeniably sexy. If he would have allowed it
she would have stripped him down right then and there and made
love to him. “Danny” she stopped him, “There is something I
wanted to ask you, can I stay at your place until I can get my
       own quarters?” She asked.
“Absolutely,” He said. “We have to lay down some ground rules,
though.” He started. He saw the look on her face. “Don't worry,
no bed time.” He said with a smile. “And there isn't enough room
in my quarters for a second bed...”
“The couch will be fine” Lela said quickly “And I wont try yo
       molest you in your sleep”
“I wouldn't mind if you tried,” Danny said, smiling. “Yes, you
       can stay with me.”
“Thank you” Lela jumped into his arms and kissed him deeply. “
So that mean I can bring Reynolds over if I got a date or should
       I go to his place”
       “Absolutely not.” Danny said.
=/\=All Senior staff report to the observation room=/\=
       "Huh duty calls." Danny sighed.
"I'll walk you to the bridge, I wanna wait to talk to my mother
after the briefing. She should hear all of this from me" Lela
told Danny then they headed for the bridge. As they rounded a
corner Lela's senses went on high alert. She smelled something
in the air. Though her senses were no where near as heightened
as her mothers since she was only half Kntarian it seemed like
some inbreed sense triggered at this aroma. It took her a second
before she registered that it was familer since it was diluted
it seemed by another familiar scent, and the last time she had
smelled something so gross was... "Danny, I smell a Banor" she
whispered pushing him into a side corridor. "Please tell me
you're armed." she new the awnser to that. Danny was always
armed. The smell was getting closer and Lela flattened herself
againt the bulkhead taking Danny's knife that he offered her.
She was glad he wouldn't leave her without a weapon to defend
herself. She could hear the foot steps now as the Banor
approched. Lela lunged and tackled Absynia to the ground holding
the knife to her throat. It took her only a second to register
that this woman was wearing a star fleet marine uniform with
       Major ranks.
"Who are you mutt and why are you here" Lela spat her tail
swished wih her agression she registed Danny behind her with his
hush puppy drawn ready to put the dog down at a seconds notice.

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Gary couldn't believe he'd put on THAT much wieght in three
years...he tried to stay in shape, but appearently being a stay
at home dad had caught up with him. Sighing, he replicated a new
set of uniforms, a touch dismayed at the fact that he would have
to take a demotion to reactivate his commission, but he
understood. The Veroto's XO was a Commander, and it wouldn't do
to have the Starfighter Commander outranking her. So, Gary
ordered the uniforms, Marine Corps Greens with Lt. Colonel rank
devices. He stepped over to the full length mirror that his wife
insisted on keeping in their quarters. John sat on the edge of
the bed, watching his father get dressed. It occured to Gary
that his youngest son had never seen him in uniform.
       "What do you think, John?"
"You look awesome!" the boy said.
"Thanks, John." Gary said, pinning on his flight wings above his
commbadge. He realised he was running late, and hustled out the
door, dropping John off at the Day Care center on the way to the
       briefing room.

By: Lela Phaserman Date: October 29, 2011, 12:52 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Considering the reaction from the Captain she was going to
assume that everyone on board the ship was going to react in a
hostile manner towards her. She had had hostility in the past,
but not because of what she was, more because of what she can
do. Still she was certain there was an upside to it all, even if
it was taking a lot to find one. She regretted her behavior
towards the Captain and had she been sure she’d have appreciated
it, she’d have tried to make up for it. She had been told that
she was going to be stationed under a female Captain, something
that had interested her. Of course she hadn’t been told much
else, but now? Now she she wanted to get to her quarters, firmly
lock the door and take a long hot shower to soothe her. A flash
of movement normally would have sent her instincts in defensive
mode, but she allowed herself to be tackled. She was on a
friendly ship, which was seriously starting to seem less and
less so, attacking a comrade went against her instincts.
She bore her teeth for a moment, but relaxed her whole body and
looked up at the woman. The scent that hit her held something
familiar to it, the woman who held the blade was related to the
Captain. “Major Absynia Starkos, I was assigned to this ship as
the Marine XO, but seems I’m gunna have my stay cut short. Or do
you plan on skinning me, cutting out my guts and making my soft
fur in to a rug? Personally I’d opt for the rug, just take care
of my tail, it’s always been my best feature.” Probably not the
best thing to say, but if she was going to get murdered she
wanted to have a say in what was going to be done to what was
left. “Before you get stabbity, mind telling me who I have the
       honor of being murdered by?”
Lela pressed the blade against Syn's throat but was careful not
to cut.. yet. Not taking her eyes off Syn, "Danny, please tell
me this is some sick joke." Lela snarled.
"Easy Lela, don't kill her yet." Danny said carefully.
=/\=Hardfighter to Admiral Phaserman, I have a dog down here
claims to be taking the postion as my Marine XO know anything
about this? Cause if you don't I might just let Lela gut it=/\=
       Danny said into his combadge.
=/\=Yeah, it's true Danny. She's one of ours, tell Lela to
stand down. We will talk after the briefing about the do...=/\=
Danny heard her stop short then her teeth grind together.
       =/\=the major=/\= she fnished.
       =/\=Understood=/\= Danny cut the channel.
"Let her go Lela, shes one of of ours" Danny put away his hush
       puppy.
"You can't be serious, it's.. it's a Banor" Lela looked up at
Danny then back down at Syn before removing the knife. "Your a
       lucky lucky dog"
"Brig. General Daniel Hardfighter" he didn't extend his hand.
"This is Lela Phaserman, she's the Fleet Admiral's daughter."
Her ears flicked back as she stood up Looking at the woman and
then the man “I happen to be a female, not an ‘it’, and as far
as I am concerned I am half human half lupine of unknown
origins. I’m a mixed breed bitch with the fluffiest tail in the
known galaxy, that’s all that matters. Now, you lot can feel
free to do what you want to try running me off, but…this is my
new home. Hostile or no you are my comrades and I will fight
beside you and defend you, I will do my duty. I swore an oath
and I will not break it, said the same thing to the Admiral.”
She picked up the padd that had dropped with a sigh “It’s been a
long day… I would invite you to my quarters, but I feel the need
to keep my territory mine, a mutt has to have a least one
sanctuary right? So, if your not going to kill me, might I
finally be able to make it to my room out of sight lest someone
else decide to go wolf hunting?”
Lela looked at Syn, "You really don't know do you" Lela had been
using her telepathy sparingly she was still afried to end up
with another splitting head ache. "Danny, go ahead. I want to
       show her something."
"Lele" Danny gave her a warning glance.
"It's alright Danny, she needs to know, I wont hurt her. Come
with me Major." Lela started towards the marine deck. She
noticed Syn hadn't moved. "It wasn't a request Major, now I wont
hurt you and I wont let anyone else hurt you but you need to see
what I have to show you so don't be stubborn" Lela said a little
sharply. Though she wasn't a fan of the Banor. She also wasn't a
killer unless she had to be. Lela knew this woman had no idea
about her fathers side. She had to know and understand why she
was getting the reaction she was getting.
Absynia followed keeping quiet, she didn't feel threatened any
longer so following wasn't going to be a problem. She had to
admit a certain amount of curiosity as to why so far everyone
she met wanted to kill her. She kept her expression and posture
blank, but how she felt was confused, hurt and simply wanting to
curl up in bed to deal with everything.
Lela led Syn past the training deck towards a room near the end
of the corridor. Lela pulled off the side panal re wired some
curcuits and the door opened. "You didn't see me do that, my
mother doesn't like me coming in here." Lela walked into the
room and turned to look at Syn. Small plaqureds lined the walls.
"Each of those plaques is a name of a crew member that has died
on the Veroto because of the war. There are 538 names, most
recently. Rear Admiral Camden Locktight the former ship xo and
Colonel Hannah Jacobs the former Marine XO. They died durning
the last battle we were in. Lock died fighting off three Banor
intruders it gave my mother enough time save the 6 of us kids in
the school." Lela walked over to a consol. "This is them, the
Banor." Lela pulled up a holographic image. "Intel says this is
General Jarnese he is a badass dude. I met him when I was taken
captive. He.." Lela looked down. "He isn't a pleasent man."
Syn looked at the man and her hackles raised, she bore her
teeth, she didn't even know why she was reacting that way. She
stepped away turning her back on the image. "Up till now I'd
only heard rumors, I don't really know anything of what happened
to me before I came to the orphanage. Seeing the face of one of
them triigered a responce, but as far as I am concerned I look
nothing like one of them." She looked over her shoulder looking
at the man."I want to see this on my own, can you give me
everything?" She wanted to spend as much time learning
everything about the race she had blood ties to. "I can't sneak
in here whenever I want to take a sniff. Nor do I want to get
       you in trouble..."
Lela felt for her she really did. She was going through an
identity crisis of her own. "Major, this is not all I wanted you
to see." Lela had recognized some of her features from the data
files. "I think you should take a look at him.." Lela
munipulated the controls and another holographic projection
replaced the general. This time she couldn't deny the
resembalnce to the Banor on the screen. "I can try to get you a
copy but this room is usually sealed tight I would have to
bypass a lot of security. Only my mom, xo, and danny, and chief
intel officer are allowed in here."
She didn't want to look at him, when she turned around fully to
look him over, the same responce happened. "If this is all, then
I won't need anything. Let's get out of here before I try to
leap through the screen to tear off his face."
"Don't you want to know his name?" Lela asked softly. "Look I
know this is a lot for you to take in all at once and I am sorry
for how I reacted to you" Lela said turning to the console and
shutting the image down. "I am sorry I upset you but you had to
know, you have to understand. A lot of people on this ship have
died at the hands of your fathers spieces."
She bore her teeth growling "That man is not my father. I need
only to know where he is and the order to kill him, his name
       isn't important."
"Good luck getting to him, we've tried" Lela sighed. "He is the
leader of the Banor military." Lela told her as she slipped past
Syn. She waited for the other woman to step out of the room
before sealing it shut again. "Again I am truly sorry. Would you
like me to show you around?" Lela asked.
Syn closed her eyes once outside her ears flat "I want a drink,
a rare steak and a burning hot shower."
"Well the best place to get a drink and a steak is Mara's
Tavren. I don't have anything to do while the senior staff are
in the briefing. I can take you to Mara's we can drop your
things off at your quarters first if you would like. I gotta
wait till Dann.. I mean General Hardfighter is done so we can
       start my training."
Syn nodded "Very well, by the way does the Admiral always meet
       people intoxicated?"
"Your kidding? Please tell me my mother wasn't drunk" Lela
sighed. "This is bad, very bad. My mother never drinks" Lela
sighed. "I am afried it may be my fault that shes drinking
though. Sorry you had to see that"
She looked ahead as they walked "Actually compared to how we met
she was warm and fuzzy. I just smelled it on her breath and
wondered, I doubt she was drunk, she had control over herself,
just not the care to do so."
Lela winced a little "I said I was sorry about that" Lela
stopped them outside Syn's quarters. "Here we are why don't you
drop everything off and we can go to Mara's" Lela gave a small
smile. "My mom sure is something else. She's good though and
fair mostly. I think having you here just caught her off guard
and she didn't know how to react specially with booze in her
system but at least she didn't throw you out an airlock."
She tossed the bag on to one of the couches "I only have that
one bag so we can go now." She walked out of the room looking
back "I don't hold grudges ma'am, I just hope that someone else
doesn't plan on doing just that, orders or not."
"You can call me Lela, I'm a civilian at least for another year"
Lela smiled as she led the way to Mara's tavern. "Mara the woman
who runs the bar is my biological fathers finacee. Shes an Orion
and very nice. Don't worry no one would dare pick a fight with
you if your with me, I got pull on this ship. Perks of being the
       Admirals daughter."
She noded "Lela, call me Syn. So I don't have to worry about my
food? Good. So what advice can you give me for dealing with the
       rest of the crew?"
Lela opened the swing doors and stepped into the Tavern. Every
head whiped around to look at Lela and Syn. Lela started to walk
in towards the Bar. "What the hell are you all staring at got
nothing better to do?" Lela snapped. The noise to the room
returned with a lot of whisperes. "Hey Mara, two rear steaks, O
neg, a cup of coffee and what ever the major would like to
       drink" Lela said sitting down.
Mara nodded and took Syn's drink order and hurried off to get
       their drinks.
"My advice, give them time. To them you are the enemy, they
don't know you from another Banor. We are at war which means
people can get mean and crule to you. Give them some time to see
who you are. As far as the other Marines, you are a major you
are the Marine XO put their asses in there place. Give my mom
and Danny some time to get used to you being here. It should get
better and if it counts for something you have a friend here"
Lela said taking the glass of O neg blood that Mara handed her
and taking a huge drag. "You mixed this right?"
"Yes dear, I have been making your father and you drinks for 3
years now I know how much to put in. So a Banor on the ship."
Mara smiled. "Nice to meet you, I'm Mara Aranel, I run this
joint anything I can do to make you feel more at home here don't
hesitate to ask" The orion woman extended her hand.

After Cam and Abby had checked into their quarters, Abby said
she was gonna check in with Kira and Cam nodded. While she was
gone, he decided to sort things out and get the kids settled
again. As the kids were occupied with something, he took the
oppotunity to take a shower and get dressed in uniform. After he
got dressed, he checked himself in the mirror. He sighed as his
mind wandered, but his thoughts were interupted. =/\=All Senior

By: Lela Phaserman Date: October 29, 2011, 4:23 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Syn's nose twitched at the scent of the cup of blood, as she
drank in the scent she smelled something...else to it. She
turned her attention back to Mara "I'm Absynia Starkos ma'am,
call me Syn if you'd like." Despite the strange scent mixed with
the blood it only made her more hungry.
Lela looked over at Syn, "Sorry my mom is vampiric, thanks to
that so am I. I have a cup of blood a day mixed with a serum
that keeps our need for blood in check" Lela explained
sheepishly. "It grosses most people out. My mom doesn't drink
blood she just uses the serum which we can do to but I kinda
like it. My biological father is the same as my mom but
sometimes he will have a cup here or there. That was how my mom
rescued him from the borg she changed him." Lela sat back and
looked down as Mara placed their stakes infront of them.
Blood hardly effected her, she chuckled "A cup of blood isn't
the least gross. I'd share the gorey details on my end, but it
might turn you green." Neatly she started eating, she might have
wanted to just tear in to it, but she retrained herself.
"You'd be surpised, I may be 11 but I have seen my share of the
gory, I have caused a little of the Gory myself" Lela said
trying not to think of when she had ripped those 4 Banor guards
throats out and drank their nasty tasting blood but failing.
Syn smirked "Well, I discovered on a mission once that I can do
quite well with my meat just raw, even if the raw meat also had
been sitting for a day or so. The Captain I was serving under at
the time wasn't a dog person and wanted to get rid of my by
throwing me in to difficult missions. This particular one he
threw me in solo minus a few provisions. I suceeded and hardly
had to miss a meal, but it did teach me that I prefer my meals
       full of flavor."
Lela thought about it for a moment then nodded, "It makes sense"
she shrugged digging into her food. "Since I am only half
Kntarian my palete is a little different from my mothers but I
still like my steaks rare mom would prefer them not cooked says
it ruins the meat. But cats and dogs are omnivors. In the wild
on earth wolves and lions eat their meat raw. It's not such a
stretch for Kntarians and Banor to eat like that." Lela smiled.
"I have klingon in me, I like my food to wiggle some times." she
       chuckled.
She nodded "I've figured that somehow the best aspects of both
of my blood mixed in a cup and produced me. I have yet to
discover my limits..." While she could eat neatly, she could eat
quickly and she made sure to clean her plate. "Never did manage
to pick up the knack for eating and talking."
Lela laughed a little. "I wanted to tell you, Dan..... General
Hardfighter, He's a good man and fair but he doesn't give more
then one chance." Lela said gently. "You will only have one
chance to prove to him you are a good officer. That you diserve
the same respect as the others that serve under him. He doesn't
give out respect it has to be earned. He will probably be very
hard on you but don't give up and don't talk back like you did
earlier almost got yourself gutted. Maintain your military
bearing and just take it and let it roll off your back. He will
respect you more that way. He's hard on everyone he just wants
       them to do their best."
Syn nodded "I'll do that. I've never had to deal with a
situation like this and it caught me by the scruff and shook me.
I'll have a better handle on it come morning, I just get the
feeling I was tossed here for a reason. Like I am a pawn in
someones sick joke... For a kid you've got skills, your parents
should have seen what you did, they'd be proud."
Lela laughed, "My parents are having a hard time dealing with
the fact that on my 12th birthday next week I will be a full
grown adult. In a few hours here I will be in the body and mind
of a 20 year old. Stupid rapid ageing. Has everyone rattled a
little. But at the same time, I am starting my training to
become a marine, General Hardfighter has seen to that, amoung
other things."Lela winked "I get to start my life now, fall in
love with the man I am supposed to marry. Become that marine lt.
colonel in 17 years that I met from the future. It's hard though
trying to figure out who exactly I am you know." She grabbed her
hair which she still hadn't had fixed. "I am having a bit of an
       identity crisis"
Syn nodded "Sounds like one hell of a growth spurt. I remember
when I was nearing my teens how unsteady I was, literally like a
half grown puppy. Even if your body and mind grow up, you will
still be playing catch up with it all. I just hope you don't
stress over it much, sorta hard to stop something nature gives
       you know?"
"It's a blessing that I get to start life sooner, I never knew
kissing a man could be so... pleasent" she chuckled. Thinking of
the previous night in sickbay with Danny. "But at the same time
it's a curse. I have never had the experinces most adults get to
have. So how did you come to be in Star Fleet? I mean obviously
you were in before the war started 3 years ago. You can't make
Major in that amount of time." Lela looked up curiously at Syn.
Syn shrugged "Never really bothered to have any relationships
with others...stuff just never worked out to go more than past
kissing. So when it comes to that sort of thing I'm not far from
where you are I think... I've always wanted to join Star Fleet.
My father and mother were part of it, seemed only natural to me
to want to follow them. They...never saw me graduate, died
before they could see me finish." She looked away her ears
backing slightly, she hated talking about it. "Threw myself in
to work since." She also didn't mention the fact that she had no
close ties with anyone, but it wasn't important to add.
"I am guessing you mean the people that adopted you." Lela was
very careful and gently put her hand on Syn's arm. Lela was
after all telepathic and a little empathic. "I am sorry about
your parents. They would have been very proud of you I am sure."
Lela said softly. "Until 3 years ago, my dad was a borg. My mom
didn't know it until we were attacked by a rouge borg ship. I am
very lucky I got him back I can't imagine the pain of losing
       ones. parents"
She growled softly "I don't think of them as 'adopted' family.
My whole life started when they took me to their home and raised
me, I had no one when they died. I was never told what happened
to them, I tried looking it up, but it was sealed.
There...wasn't even a funeral, I just was told by some garlic
smelling officer that I lost everyone who ever mattered to me.
If it wasn't for the holo program my father made for me I'd have
quit before I had graduated. I hope you never have to feel that
pain, in one night things went all to hell."
"What do you do for fun?" Lela asked trying to move away from
the painful topic she knew it was bothering Syn. She made a
mental note to talk to her mother about Syn's family and to see
if she could get the records as to what happened.
"I have a few holo sims I like, I read some, I paint and I enjoy
music. Beyond that since I am used to bouncing from place to
place I don't really have the chance to explore other things or
even to add more posessions." In fact Syn was prepared to be
dumped somewhere else if she couldn't find her nitch with the
crew. She didn't mind the fact she'd not have any close ties,
she didn't blame them considering, she was used to being on her
own without anyones support. To her this was just one more
reason that she was glad that she never fit in with other
people, nor that she cared to make things more than 'pleasant'
in regards to others. If she was honest with herself the real
cause was fear, fear she'd lose someone else and fear that she'd
       lose control again.
"Do you like to spar?" Lela asked, "General Hardfighter has been
teaching me to spar. He's the one whos taught me how to fight
how to shoot and how to get "Stabbity Stabbity' with it." she
       laughed.
Syn chuckled "I don't know...few people have been able to
attempt it with me, I am stronger than most people. I'd worry
about what would happen to ME if you ended up hurt. Besides
that, you'd probably get chewed on by your mother if she sees
you getting comfy around me, especially considering why you
aught to hate me. You might be leaping in to adulthood soon, but
your mother would have a litter of kittens if she saw you near
       me."
Lela doubled over laughing "That my dear Syn would be halarious
to see" Lela righted herself. "My mother can get over it. She
doesn't control who I can and can't be friends with. If I decide
I am going to make friends with a lonely soul who really looks
like they could use a friend then I will. She can chew me out
all she wants. Besides Syn, I am a lot stronger then I look. I
know I look emaciated and unhealthy from all this growing but I
am still vampiric which makes me 3x stronger then a human. My
sense are enhanced, I have amazing balance thanks to my tail and
I am fast, very fast. I can handle my own, I flattened you
didn't I and I know I know you weren't trying to fight back but
I did put you on your ass."
Syn sighed "You also have to think of this, your mother can make
my life hell while I am here. She might go easy on you, but
she'd see no reason not to find perfectly acceptable reasons to
take revenge. As long as she follows procedure, doesn't break
any rules and doesn't go too far, she can literally do whatever
she wants. I'm used to standing on my own regardless of what I
am doing, I'm not as bad off as it seems trust me. Besides the
excuse 'knowing my enemy' just won't fly, I'll be fine." She
didn't, regardless of how confident Lela seemed, want to get the
girl in hot water with someone who could get creative.
Lela sighed, "So what you don't want to be friends with me
because of my mother." Lela got a look of determination in her
eyes. "Well that doesn't fly with me. She may be the Fleet
Admiral but that doesn't give her the right to be mean to you."
Lela got to her feet. "And I am gonna tell her so, Syn you
aren't alone anymore, this is the Veroto. We are all a family
here and now that you are here you are part of that family. Mom
will see you are not the enemy just as I have. I have no reason
to hate you, you haven't killed my friends and family just
because the blood of the Banor runs through you doesn't give
someone the right to discriminate against you. Thank you for
shareing this meal with me but I need to go speak to my mother.
I will see you around Syn" Lela started for the door.
Syn sighed watching her go, the familiar ache curling in her
belly. Family, something she feared and ached for, but she knew
it was a bad idea. "Mara I'll have another steak as well as some
fire whiskey, I know that stuff is stong, but I've had one hell
       of a day..."
"Coming right up" Mara said as she poured the fire whiskey and
put the order for her steak in. "Don't worry about Lela, she has
a good heart and just wants to help." the Orion woman said as
       she set the drink down.
Syn nodded "Yeah, I can tell." She downed the drink fast closing
her eyes as she felt the burn travel down her throat, she sighed
opening her eyes, already she could feel the alcohol numbing the
ache. "Just hope the kid doesn't get in any trouble, I also hope
       she's right about the Admiral."
Mara smiled, "Shes not often wrong, shes an old soul that one
wise beyond her years. Want another?" Mara asked. "Lela knows
what shes doing, if she finds someone she cares about, she stick
to her guns and doesn't back down if anyone can make Admiral
       Phaserman see reason it's Lela"
She nodded at the offer "I don't really care if I am 'liked' I'd
just rather not have to fear for my life. I'd be happy with just
       that."
"I'm sorry you fear for your life here, it didn't use to be like
that here. The war has changed Kira, she isn't as accepting as
she used to be. If you had come here 3 years ago it probably
would have been better for you. But after everything that has
happened all the pain and loss..." Mara trailed off "Give her
time Major, she will come around."
For some reason, even before the drink she had been relaxed
everytime Mara was within scent range. She should have been
tense, yet she wasn't. Granted she wasn't familiar with her
race, but for some odd reason figured whatever it was it was her
doing. She propped her chin in one palm closing her eyes
absorbing the scents and sounds around her. If she wasn't
careful she'd end up falling asleep.
"Hmm, curious. I wonder what it is about you and Kntarian's"
       Mara said half to herself.
Her ears pricked up and she opened her eyes blinking, her tail
giving a lazy wag "What do you mean?"
Mara shrugged, "It's just that you are the only two spieces
who's females don't get ungodly headaches around me. You seemed
to be completely at easy, it's never affected Lela or Kira
either. I wonder what it is about the two spieces that aren't
       bothered by my pheramones."
She sighed "If anything I'm totally relaxed, so much so I could
fall asleep. Your scent is comforting..."
"Good to know, maybe you should head to your quarters and get
some sleep you will have a few hours before we reach our
destination" Mara told her with a smile.
She cuckled "One last drink and food, then a bath and bed, I
       promise."
"Coming right up" Mara said bringing her another fire whiskey
       and stake.

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Lela walked to the observation room glad to see that her mother
was still alone. “Mom we need to talk”
Kira looked up to see Lela, “I'd say what did you do to your
hair” Kira got to her feet and walked over to Lela.
“Forget that, I want to talk to you about Major Starkos.” Lela
       said with determination
“I am sorry Lela, I will see to it that she stays away from you
I know how hard it must be to see one of their kind on the
ship.” Kira hugged her daughter, when Lela didn't return the hug
Kira drew back and looked at her.
“That's not it mom, how can you be so mean to her, she has never
       done anything.” Lela told her.
“Lela, she is a Banor. We can't trust her!” Kira said moving
       away to pace.
“Until about 20 minutes ago she had no idea who she was!” Lela
stated defiantly. “I had breakfast with her. She is a nice
woman, strong, confident but utterly alone. She is on the veroto
and didn't you tell me that anyone on the Veroto is family, does
that not apply just because of her pedigree?” Lela demanded.
“Lela, I forbid you to be around that dog.” Kira said angerly.
       “She is dangerous!”
“No shes not mom and I will not be told who I can and can't be
friends with. Maybe if you spent half a second to get to know
Syn then you wouldn't see her like that. You are blinded by your
hatred and mistrust and you take it out on an innocent person.”
“She is not a person she is a dog!” Kira snapped.
“And that is where you and I differ on opinions mother. I like
her, and I will be her friend lighten up old woman you are to
set in your ways” Lela snarled right back
“What did you just say young lady!” Kira looked over at Lela in
       shock.
“I'm sorry do I need to speak slower mother are you losing your
hearing in your old age?” Lela crossed her arms in front of her.
“Talk to her mother! Before you judge get to know her. She will
surprise you, I know she did me.”
“Lela Ann Phaserman I swear by all that is holy that...”
“Oh and I am staying at Danny's until I get my own quarters.
He's already said it's alright.” Lela said dropping another bomb
       shell on her mother.
Kira sighed and sank down into her chair. “Lela what are you
doing, making friends with a Banor. Shacking up with a man 3
times your age. Are you trying to give me a heart attack?” Kira
       asked wearily.
“If it will give you a wake up call then yeah” Lela looked at
her mother coldly. “I love you mom but you are being a bitch to
       Syn for no reason”
Kira sighed, “Fine, I will talk to her. I doubt it will change
my mind about her but I will try. I don't like the idea of you
       around her.”
“To bad” Lela said, then she caught site of some of her mothers
thoughts. “Oh my god, mom you didn't.” Lela softened a little
now understanding what drove her mother to drink. “Does Gary
       know?”
“Not yet, please don't say anything. I want to be the one to
       tell him.” Kira said sadly.
“I can't believe Dad kissed you.” Lela said in shock.
“Thanks I needed that reminder” Kira sagged in her seat.
“Yes he kissed me, and I kissed him back” Kira admitted.
“And you liked it, Mom. It really is no surprise I am actually
more surprised that you were able to walk away from that. You
love him mom, we all know that. You never got that closer. ”
Lela said softly. “Gary will understand. I better be going
before your staff...” Lela looked up to see Cam, Abby, and Danny
walking in. “Get here” she finished. Lela walked past them to
exit “talk with you later mom and remember to talk to her.” Lela
       said before she left.

Mara sat on the couch, she was getting worried that Baj hadn't
returned yet. She heard the door open and Baj walk in. She got
to her feet and caught site of his face. “Baj what's wrong
honey” she said walking over to him. “Is Lela alright?” Mara
looked into his eyes and knew he was fighting an internal war
with himself. “Talk to me.” Mara said softly taking his hand
       into hers.
Baj looked at Mara, but was not quite able to meet her eyes,
"Lela is-" He almost said she was fine, but he wasn't quite sure
of that, "Lela is different." He went to go sit, "She is growing
up, she is going to be twenty in a few hours now probably..." He
was still trying to figure out how to tell her about him and
       Kira.
"The poor girl she must be so confused" Mara followed Baj and
sat beside him taking his hand into hers. "You must be having a
hard time with this as well, You just got your little girl and
now shes not so little anymore" Mara gently stroked his cheek
with the back of her hand.
He nodded, slightly distracted by his thoughts, "And she seems
to have fallen pretty hard for General Hardfighter." He still
couldn't bring himself to look at her, "Quite a bit has happened
       tonight."
"It seems you have some fathering instict in you from the tone
of your voice you don't sound happy about young Lela's affection
for the General" Mara was confused as to why he wouldn't look at
her. Has she done something to offend him? she thought. "What
else has happened my love? Something is weighing heavily on you.
You can tell me what ever it is." she said softly
"Mara," he finally looked into her eyes, "It's Kira. After Lela
left we ended up talking." He was clearly torn by the situation,
but all of his previous anger and frustration had disappeared
walking around the ship. "We kissed." He looked down, not sure
       what was going to happen.
Mara looked at him in suprise and then started laughing. "Really
my love is that why you look like someone has sentenced you to
       death!"
Baj blinked and looked back to Mara, not sure how to handle
this. "Well... ummm." He was trying to get a hold of his
thoughts. This was definitely not what he had been expecting and
it only served to confuse him more.
Mara stopped laughing and brought his face to look at her. "Baj
my sweet, I am Orion, before the planet you rescued me from I
had been a slave for 10 years married twice! Each of my
'husbands' were married to at least 8 other women. Does it upset
me a little but it doesn't suprise me. Baj you are in love with
that woman. I have never seen such a deeper more powerful love
then is between you two. I know you love me Baj, but not like
you love her. But that is okay, I am happy with how you love me"
Baj's mouth hung open slightly. He was at a complete loss for
words. She knew exactly what was bothering him and what he had
trouble forming into words. He looked deep into her eyes before
finally nodding, smiling, kissing her, and bringing her into a
       hug. "I love you."
Mara smiled "I love you too, and for the record, I am okay with
you loving Kira too. After all she gave birth to your child.
That is something I can never do" Mara kissed him gently.
=/\=All Senior staff report to the confrence room=/\=
"Go on now, I have to get to the Tavern and you have to get to
work. We will... talk" she winked. "Later" Mara kissed him
       again.
Baj smiled, and returned the kiss, extremely happy how this had
turned out, "I can't wait." He left the quarters and headed to
the briefing, much less worried about Mara and Kira and their
kiss. But now his thoughts returned to how he was supposed to
talk to Lela and the rest of that situation. He entered the
conference room, nodded to the admiral, and took his seat.

Gary tugged at his uniform jacket in the Turbolift up to the
Bridge. Exiting the Turbolift, the Lieutenant holding down the
big chair stood and turned. "Good morning, sir." He said,
       muttering 'You're screwed.'
"Actually, Lieutenant, I was carrying out the Admiral's explicit
orders below decks, which kept me otherwise detained and
resulted in my delayed arrival. In the future, it would behoove
you to know the facts before you predict the fate of officers
more senior than yourself." Gary said. Sometimes, it was fun
being the smartest man on the ship.
       "Aye sir."
Gary entered, and every face in the room turned to see him.
"Ma'am, I apologize for my tardiness, but I had to ensure that
John made it to daycare on time."

"Thank you for joining us Colonel please take a seat." Kira said
a little upset that her husband was back on active duty but
       understanding why he was.
Kira waited for everyone to be seated, she took in the new faces
and was struck with a sudden sadness. The loss from the last
large battle with the Banor had taken so many of their crew.
"First off, I would like to welcome the new crew members to the
ship, Lt. Sural chief science officer and our new XO Commander
Jessica Mason. Welcome to the Veroto family. Now to business, as
I am sure a few of you are aware we are headed to the outer
region of the Beta Quadrent. A previously uninhabited planet is
now giving off some strange readings. Our mission is to scout
the planet and make sure the Banor aren't establishing a base on
the planet and to expel them from the planet if they are. We
will be meeting up with the USS Destiny, they will be
accompanying us in case the Banor are there and put up a fight.
ETA to the planet is 3 hours the Destiny will meet up with us an
hour out. We will be splitting into teams" Kira said pulling up
a holoprojection of the planet. "This is where the readings are
coming from." she indicated with a red dot. "Doctor, you and
General Hardfighter will move in from this direction. Lt. Sural
and Lt. Locktight here." She indicated the teams with different
colors. "Commander Mason, you and Colonel Phaserman here.
General I will need Lt Reynolds and First Sarg Rose to stay with
the shuttle. Leave the Dog at home, wouldn't want her to get
killed by accident. Admiral Tellok and I will move in from this
direction. We will be in stealth mode that means personal
cloaking devices and do not engage the enemy unless its
absolutely necessary. We are scouting at this point we need
numbers, location, defenses. Tricorders will not work because
of the deposits in the area. Also Phasers and comms have proven
to be sketchy at best in this area make sure you are armed with
hand to hand weapons as a back up. We will have a set time and
place to meet. Lt. William's I am leaving the ship in your
capable hands, don't get it blown up please. Any questions?"
Gary raised his hand “So uh, who's gonna be my co pilot?”
Kira looked over at her husband and frowned, “Really Colonel,
who said I was letting you drive, I want us all to make it down
       there in one piece.”
“I've never crashed a passenger vessel..might have overdone the
G forces a time or two, but what's ten or twenty Gs between
       friends?”
“And you just made my point, Lt Locktight will be piloting the
vessel he is familiar with our stealth craft.” Kira shook her
head. 'and no back seat driving' she projected to her husband.
