Kira and Baj's past

Lt. Commander Kira Maru walked down to engineering she had heard
there was a new Chief Engineer from Captain Ross and she made a
point to know everyone on the Slipsteam since it was her job to
protect them. Kira walked into main engineering and saw him
right away standing by the warp core talking to another
engineer. She stood back and watched him for a moment smiling to
herself. He was kinda cute with his Bajoran nose, his Klingon
forehead ridges and Romulan ears. Her previous husband had been
Klingon, she had always had thing for those forehead ridges. A
twang of pain went through her heart at the thought of her
deceased husband. She hadn't allowed herself back into the
dating world and that had been almost 18 years ago. She had
loved Primus, he had been her whole world along with there 2
children. One of whom was on the run from Star Fleet and the
Federation for having killed her father and 125 other star fleet
officers. She had tried to kill her grandfather but had failed.
Her son had left for the Klingon empire to become a warrior like
his father.
“Can I help you?” the Chief Engieer startled her out of her
thoughts.
Kira smiled “Actually I came to meet you. Lt. Commander Kira
Maru. You must be Ensign Baj Tellok”
“Yeah how'd you know?” Baj asked.
“I make it my job to know I'm the chief Tactical and Security
Officer.”
“Oh, well I'm kinda busy here so if you don't need anything then
can you please leave?” Baj said pointidly. “Ma'am” he tacked on
as an after thought.
“Uh.. yeah I guess” Kira said a little put out. “Nice to meet
you.” Kira turned around and walked out of Engineering. “Well
that went over well” Kira said to herself shaking her head.

“Baj, are you alright?” Kira gasped outta breath she thought she
might have broken a rib. “Where are we?”
“I have no idea” Baj said wincing in pain.
“I think we crashed.” she said as the memory’s came flooding
back. They had been on an away mission on their way back to the
ship when they hit something in space. Kira had made an
emergency landing on a planet but she couldn't remember which
one. “Are sensors working?”
“Hold on” Baj worked the console. “Yeah you're not going to like
this.” Baj tried to move and unbuckle himself. “Looks like
structral intergirty is alright but life support is barely
fuctioning, engines are shot, and its -50 degrees out side. It's
gonna get cold in here” he said pulling himself up and moving
towards the back.
“Can you get the engines working?” Kira asked moving gingerly.
“Ahh” she sank back in the chair and cried out in pain.
“Easy Commander.” Baj said walking back over with a med kit. He
withdrew the medical tricorder and scanned her. “Two broken
ribs, a broken wrist, and it looks like you fractured your
collar bone. Looks like a concussion as well.”
“I wasn't buckled in when we went down my body slammed against
the console.” Kira said trying not to breath to deep. “Give me
something for the pain so I can help you”
“I 'll give you something for the pain but you need to remain
still Commander” Baj said loading a hypo and injecting her.
“You're gonna need my help and if I sit here I may fall asleep
and that is a bad idea.” Kira said breathing a little easier.
“You're gonna have to split my wrist and imobalize it and my
collar bone.”
“I'm and engineer not a doctor” Baj said a little frustrated.
“Lucky for you I'm a certified field medic” Kira smiled a
little.
“You mean lucky for you what do I need to do.” Baj asked
Kira explained to him how to set her wrist and splint it. She
told him how to make a sling. He moved close to her. The heat
from his body awaking something in hers. His rough hands were
gentle on her as he moved to tie the split around her she caught
his smell and was intoxicated. When he was finished he pulled
back.
“Hows that?” He asked.
“Good” Kira replied.
“How's your head feeling.”
“It's not so bad.” Kira lied. “We have work to do” she went to
stand slowly Baj resigned to the fact he wasn't going to win
grabbed her good arm and helped pull her up. “Where do we
start?”
“Over here” Baj walked with her until the reached the panal he
needed. “Just, sit here and stay outta my way” he said as he
removed the panal.
“I see how its gonna be.” Kira tried to laugh and then winced as
her chest protested.
“How what's gonna be?” Baj asked not taking his eyes from his
work he knew he had to keep her talking.
“This” she said pointing between them. “Don't tell me you don't
feel it too.”
“Feel what” he looked over at her puzzled. He had felt something
between them a kinda energy but he had never been good with
people let alone women.
Kira smiled and shivered it was starting to get cold in the
shuttle.
“You really have no idea do you” Kira put her good hand on his
arm. “This attraction”
Baj blushed, “I do feel it” he admitted. “But I need to
concentrate on getting this fixed.”
“Yeah, I know” Kira leaned back against the bulkhead. “If we get
out of this, come to dinner at my place. I make some good
hasburrat.”
“Umm...” Baj couldn't look at her he had been trying to ignore
the attraction.. “You mean like a date, cause I don't think
that's a good idea Commander.”
“Kira, my name is Kira” she looked him over, “and I didn't say a
date.”
“Oh, I'm sorry” Baj's face kinda fell. He didn't know what he
was expecting it was just a dinner.
“But that's not a bad idea, Promise me” Kira begged.
“Yeah, yeah I promise.” he said not really thinking she would
hold him to it. Baj pushed back away from the console and threw
his tool down. “There's nothing I can do, the systems are
completely fried and the ones that aren't fried are frozen. I'm
sorry Command... I mean Kira.”
“Hey it's okay you tried. Do we have any blankets?” she asked.
“Yeah, hold on” Baj pulled out the survival blankets and set one
over her before moving away and sitting a ways away from her.
“Hey, it would be warmer if we combined our body heat.” Kira
said looking over at him . “Survival 101”
Baj reluctantly moved over towards her. He was trying to avoid
the attraction he felt towards her. She was a senior officer. He
sat beside her and was amazed when she leaned into him and
rested her head on his chest. He didn't know what to do. Her
good arm reached over and wrapped his arm around herself she
inched closer until there bodies were touching. She felt so
good, so warm. He didn't know what he was thinking her leaned
his head down and inhaled her scent she smelled so good.
Realizing what he was doing he pulled his head back and leaned
it back against the wall closing his eyes. He couldn't beileve
that this beautiful woman was in his arms and she made it seem
like she really wanted to be there. He noticed she was closing
her eyes.
“Hey, hey Kira stay awake.” he said gently proading her. “Talk
to me, tell me about yourself” he begged trying to make her stay
awake.
“What do you want to know?” She asked.
“Everything” he breathed.

Kira walked into engineering, “Ensign Tellok please” she asked
one of the engineers working. HE pointed her over to a open
crawl space. Kira walked over smiling and kneeled down to duck
her head in. “Ensign, the captain told us to take a few days off
because of that shuttle incident you're not supposed to be
working.” She said knowing full well that working kept his mind
at ease.
“Commander Maru” Baj jumped, he hadn't expected her to show up
here.
“You promised me you would come to dinner at my place if we got
outta there and since we did, come with me. I'll make us a nice
hot dinner and we can turn up the heat in my quarters, I still
can't get warm” she chuckled.
“I know that feeling” Baj sighed, they had nearly frozen to
death both of them had hypothermia, if it hadn't been for the
Slipsteam finding them and beaming them back to the ship they
would have died wrapped up in each others arms. Baj remembered
when the medics pulled her away from him, he wanted her back in
his arms. It was silly, he had tried to ignore those feelings
and hide away through out the ship once they were back on their
feet. He had avoided her the first day but she had found him
today.
“Come on” Kira extended her hand to him.
Baj didn't take it but he packed up his kit and slid outta the
crawl space relutctanly.
“Geeze you look like I'm taking you to your death” Kira grinned.
“Sorry” Baj winced.
Kira walked with him to her quarters. She made dinner of
Hasburrat for them and set it down on the table. “I hope you
like it”
“Thanks” Baj took a bite. “Mmm this is pretty good Commander”
“Kira, we are off duty, you can call me Kira and thank you I am
glad you like it” Kira smiled. She placed a hand on his free
hand.
Baj flinched away from the touch, how diffrenet this all was to
have a woman openinly flirting with him.
“You haven't dated much have you?” Kira asked.
“No, not really” Baj admited.
“It's alright, I wont push you, it's just I really like you and
I haven't dated since my husband died I guess I just hadn't met
the right guy.”
“But why me?” he asked.
“I don't know, does anyone really know why they have feelings
for someone.” Kira smiled.
Baj really looked at the woman in front of him, until now he had
avoided it. But she was very beautiful, cat like ears sticking
out of long, shinny, black hair. She was curvy in all the right
places and had a long cat tail that brushed against his leg and
made him blush again. Her yellow eyes were deep and thoughtful.
What he liked most was her vibrant smile and the way she seemed
to put those around her at ease.
“I don't know if this can work out, I am not the easiest guy to
be around then there is the whole chain of command thing.” Baj
said looking for some excuse anything he wasn't sure he could
handle such a strong willed woman.
“You are not in my direct chain of command Baj, you are your own
department head.” she assured him. “and I am not exactly the
easiest woman to handle. I am just asking for a chance to show
you this can work.”
“I don't know” Baj leaned forward.
Kira closed the gap she kissed him quickly before he could
really register what she was doing. Her lips pressed against
his. He wanted to pull away his body kept screaming for him to
move to run but his heart was screaming for him to stay, to try.
This felt good didn't it? It most deffinatly felt good. He
didn't know what he was doing or why he did what he did next but
he pulled her towards him, into his lap. He was grateful when
she deepened the kiss when she took the lead he wasn't exactly
experienced in this sort of thing.
Kira straddled his lap her hands tangled into his hair as she
kissed him her tounge gently proabed parting his lips. His
tounge came to meet hers. He tasted good his hands brushed up
her back. It had been so long since a man had touched her in
such a way.
Baj was lost in her kiss, in her touch. He couldn't believe that
this woman found him attractive and wanted him this way. After
what seemed like hours she pulled away and he tried to catch his
breath.
“I'm sorry” she panted, “I don't know what came over me”
Baj blushed, “I uhh..” Baj gently moved her from his lap..
“Thank you for dinner Com..Kira” he turned and couldn't get
outta there fast enough.

Kira showed up in engineering the next day and located Baj glad
that he was alone. “Ensign” Kira said tentatively.
“Why are you here?” Baj asked a little sharper then he had
intended.
“Cause I like you” Kira said crossing her arms over her chest.
Baj turned away from her his heart racing he was so unsure of
what to do.”Why”
“I don't know been asking myself that same question, maybe
because your a challenge and I can't resist a challenge, but I
don't think that's it.” She moved closer to him.
Her presence was a distraction, he could feel the heat from her
body and while pleasant it made him uncomfortable. He couldn't
look at her, not without thinking of the way she kissed him the
night before.
“Your wasteing your time on me Commander” He said in a sturn
tone.
“It's my time to waste and I don't think it's wasted on you, and
when will you ever call me Kira?” she demanded.
“Your in uniform Commander and so am I” he pointed out.
“You can't scare me away Ensign, I'm not going anywhere. I have
made up my mind that you are worth my time and I intend to show
you that I am worth yours too.” Kira turned and walked away.

Baj kept his face in a padd as he walked from engineering to his
quarters. He didn't notice Kira standing with her arms crossed
at the next corridor. “Hey you” she said startling him. He
noticed she wasn't wearing her uniform, she looked beautiful in
a light green dress that flowed perfectly over her curves
accentuating ever part of her body from her legs to her face.
“Commander” he nodded.
“I'm not in uniform, it's Kira” she said with a smile. “I
thought you might be hungry and I thought you might enjoy some
peace and quiet.” she took his arm and picked up the basket at
her feet and led him down the hall.
She was strong and had him off guard so when she pulled him
along he went but rather unwillingly. His eyes widened when he
saw they were outside the holodeck. He watched her pull up the
program as the doors parted her was surprised to see a meadow
with a picnic blanket set out infront of them.
“Come on” she urged and gave him a slight push.
Baj walked in reluctantly and looked around.
Kira bushed passed him and sat down on the blanket patting the
spot beside her. “You must be hungry.”
“Comm... Kira this isn't a good idea.”
“Look you're hungry, I'm hungry there is good food right here
fresh made not replicated. A nice bottle of wine in here so you
might as well sit down and eat.” Kira said a little annoyed but
she was trying to be patient with him.
“Fine” Baj sat down as far from her as possiable, and took the
food she handed him.
“I took the liberty of looking up some Klingon and Romulan
recipies, I always love to try new food. This is a Romulan
recipe.” She told him.
“Uhh.. thank you” Baj said awkwardly. Then took a bite of food.
“You're a pretty good cook.” he said
“Thank you” Kira smiled. “I try.”
“You're a pretty good engineer you saved our asses yesterday
during that battle.”
“Yeah but if you hadn't bought me that extra 2 minutes with that
shooting of yours I wouldn't have been able too” Baj said
blushing. “and that idea you had of tying warp core power into
the phasers was brilliant damn near blew out every relay on the
ship but it worked.” Baj was excited now to be talking about
engineering stuff.
Kira enjoyed to see him so excited. “I needed extra power and
that was the only place left to get it. If it weren't for your
quick thinking though we would have blown up our own ship!” Kira
laughed.
“You doubted my skills?” Baj asked.
“Not for a moment” Kira grinned. “You're one hell of an
engineer”
Baj blushed now and retreated to his food. He kept his tone and
the conversation light from then on.
Kira couldn't be to upset she had drawn him out of his shell a
little and she wasn't going to push her luck.

Abby looked at Kira in suprise, “Baj huh, no wonder I haven't
seen you around much. To busy with him, he doesn't talk much and
is very distant”
Kira smiled, “He's not so bad, once you pull him outta his shell
and comfort zone.” Kira thought about it. “Underneath that shell
is a very passionet, sweet, exciting man. It's just getting him
to show that side that is the hard part. I really like him Abbs”
“Good luck” Abby smiled.
“I gotta go he gets off shift soon, Captain said we have shore
leave so I am going to take him down to the planet.”
“Think he will go with you?”
“Oh I think with the right motivation, they have a parts market
and an engineering conference going on.” Kira grinned.
“You kiniving woman you, have fun don't do anything I wouldn't.”
Abby called after her.
“That leaves a lot open for me then” Kira called back and walked
towards engineering. “Baj there you are, I thought we would head
down to the planet there is some place I would like to show you”
“You don't give up do you?” He asked and was dismayed when she
shook her head. “Where are we going?”
“It's a surprise.” Kira took his arm
“I hate surprises” he told her.
“I know but you will like this one” Kira assured him and led the
way to the transporter room.
They spent the day at conference, Kira sat quietly while he was
excited and absorbed all the information then Kira led him
towards the parts market and set him loose. She watched as he
walked around taking everything looking over this or that. She
was happy to see him happy. At the end of the night Kira led the
way to an out of the way restaurant.
“Umm.. thank you Kira. For today” Baj said awkwardly.
“You're very welcome, I am glad you had so much fun” Kira smiled
“It couldn't have been the most exciting day for you, so why did
you do this?” He asked her curious.
“That's what people do when they like someone, I am happy to
share your hobbies and intrests with you” Kira explained.
“No one has ever done something like this for me before.” Baj
told her in awe.
“I told you I was worth your time Baj, and you are most
deffinatly worth mine” Kira told him and smiled.

Kira lay on her bed her quarters were silent. She closed her
eyes a a memory flashed before her. She was in Baj's quarters on
the slipsteam. he was sitting a crossed from her smiling talking
about his day in engineering. Kira listened politely then told
him about her day on the bridge. The night progressed quickly
with dinner and desert. Kira couldn't take it anymore. She
sauntered up to him and wrapped her arms around his neck.
Kissing him passionately she pressed her body against his. He
responded to her touch by placing her arms around her waist
kissing her back with equal passion. Kira smiled an evil grin
and lead him to his bedroom. She spun him so that his back was
to the bed and pushed him down gently. Straddling his lap she
returned to kissing him, gently and artfully removing his
uniform top from his body. The second his arms were free his
arms were back around her trying to get her uniform top free.
Clothing was flying over Kira's shoulder when flesh met flesh it
was like a sigh or relief. Baj lifted her up and lay her on the
bed moving himself so that he was between her legs his hard
erection pressed against her thigh taunting her. The fire that
burned inside of her begged her to take him. His lips met the
sensitive skin along her jawline where his kisses burned her
stirring the fire even more. Her hands went down his back and
her nails raked his skin on the way back up. He bit in to her
neck gently and Kira moaned. He kissed his way down to her
nipples taking one in to his mouth his hand tweaked the other
with his fingers. He gently tugged at them before moving his
kisses lower his hands trailing behind him he kissed her thighs
and his hands trailed the sensitive flesh. Kira was being driven
crazy. "God dammit Baj quit teasing me" she begged. He smiled up
at her and then kissed and nipped at her skin as he made is way
back up her body to her lips. He positioned himself at her
entrance she braced herself as he slid inside of her, filling
her completely. He buried his face in her neck to muffle his
moan as he rocked his hips withdrawing to the tip and then
sliding all the way back in side of her. She threw her head back
against the pillow eyes closed as she let out a soft moan each
time he filled her. The feel of his body against hers the sent
of his skin was almost to much for her to bear her nails raked
the skin of his back leaving long scratch marks. Her body
screamed for a release as he kept moving his hip harder getting
as deep inside of her as he could. He picked up the pace. His
breathing was erratic she could feel his pulse through his
fingertips when he garbed her thighs to get better leverage. She
felt his body shudder felt him drive himself deep inside of her
his face buried in the nape of a neck stifling a long loud moan.
She felt him release inside of her and she let herself go
cumming with him. As the waves of pleaser subsided he lay there
on top of her his breathing still not back to normal her body
was shaking. He was till inside of her his face still in her
neck. A few minuets passed and he rolled to the side bringing
her on to her side next to him she kissed him passionately then
rest her head on his chest. She whispered I love you as she
closed her eyes. She heard him say I love you too and she
drifted off to sleep happy in the knowledge she was with the man
she loved.

“Come with me Kira, a little vacation just the two of us” Baj
begged her.
“Baj I wish I could but I can't you know that. Captain Ross has
me going on this undercover mission” I will be back by the time
you get back and I promise we will have a little vacation just
the two of us” Kira kissed him and walked out of the shuttle.
“Be safe I'll get a message to you when its safe” Kira blew him
a kiss as the shuttle closed and walked away.
Three days later
=/\=Commander Maru to Slipsteam 2 to beam up=/\= Kira screamed
into her combadge trying to shelter the mother and child she had
been sent to rescue. The transporter took effect and she beamed
back onto the ship.
“Commander Maru, good work.” Captain Ross was waiting for her.
“Take these two to sickbay and get them quarters.” He told the
Xo. “Kira I need to talk to you” Ross' face fell.
Kira looked at him “No..” fear gripped her. “No” she knew where
he was going.
“Baj's shuttle never reached Bajor, there was a Borg ship, some
wreckage from a small shuttle..”
“No no no!” Kira screamed and started to collapse. Ross caught
her in his arms.
“I'm so sorry Kira” He said softly holding her as she cried.
-2 weeks later-
Kira stood in his quarters, she looked around remembering all
the time they had spent together. She had volunteered to pack up
his belongings she wanted to do it herself. As she started to
pack up his things she was gripped by sudden nausea. She tore
through the room to the bathroom and made it just in time. She
felt faint and weak. =/\= Kira to Abby, please report to Baj's
old quarters=/\=
Kira waited by the toliet for Abby to show up having been sick a
few times.
“Kira are you alright!” Abby rushed in and kneeled beside her
she took out her tricorder and began scanning her.
“I don't know I feel horriable” Kira said and then was sick
again.
“Oh my god. Oh my god Kira, your pregnant” Abby said trying to
keep her exciement.
“Preg... no that would mean that..” Tears filled her eyes at the
thought of Baj. She was pregnant with his child.
“Oh sweet heart it will be okay it appers your are about 5 weeks
along that sound about right?” Abby asked.
Kira nodded then regretted the sudden movement.
“Your gestastion is only 5 months so we will have to keep an eye
on you” Abby said “Come on lets get you to sickbay” Abby pulled
Kira to her feet.
3 months later.
“Oh god Abby” Kira screamed.
“The placenta has separated from your uterus. I have to get her
out now or she'll die” Abby said over her screams
“Get her out get her out!” Kira screamed in fear for her baby.
Abby delivered Lela quickly. She started yelling to the nurses.
“Get me oxygen shes not breathing on her own.” Kira lay
exghausted and in pain watching helpless as they worked to help
her baby live. She wished Baj could have been here. The minutes
stretched on until Abby walked back over to her.
“She's stable for right now, 3 lbs 4 ounces. She's not breathing
on her own and her little heart is having a hard time keeping
her body going I am doing everything I can do but these next few
hours will determin if she makes it.”
“Does she.. does she look like him?” Kira asked.
“Come see for yourself.” Abby helped her up
Kira walked over to her daughter and looked down. “my god shes
so tiny, shes got his facial features but my ears and is that a
tail. Shes so beautiful. Hang in there baby, mommas here and I
am never gonna let anything happen to you.” Kira said.
