Nightingale trotted along beside Trixie as she followed the mare
into town, having to take a number of steps to Trixie's one or
two, given how short her limbs were. Though, she blinked when
Trixie slowed, curious why she wasn't moving like she was...
before blinking at the response she was given. "You mean I'm
gonna get a story from the Great and Powerful Trixie herself~? I
can't wait!" Nightingale cheered, grinning ear to ear. "You
know... I still think it's super dumb that Twilight became a
princess of all things, after what she did to you when you first
came here. Trying to make you look bad, like that... She's just
a big Queen Turd if you ask me."

Trixie stifles a giggle at the filly's name for Twilight. "Well
now, it's not good to judge somepony on one thing that they did
in the past." Trixie hopes that advice will also ease the story
she will eventually tell. Her eyes wander as she makes sure
she's on the right path to her wagon. "I don't know Twilight all
too well but we share a mutual friend. Trixie was to perform
with said friend this week, but being the pupil of the princess
makes her quite busy."
"Trixie wouldn't say Twilight is all that great, but ponies see
her as worthy of her post and Trixie can see why. Understanding
the perspective of others is key for an illusionist after all."

Nightingale's nose wrinkled some as Trixie gently admonished the
filly for judging Twilight, head lowering some. It wasn't just
that--it was the way Twilight acted and carried herself. But
Nightingale didn't really know how to get that across properly,
so she just continued plodding along beside Trixie, towards the
mare's wagon. Then, she mentioned 'understanding the perspective
of others', causing Nightingale to raise her head and glance
over to her idol. "Not sure I understand whatcha mean. Why's
that key for an illusionist? I've been doin' fine so far..."

"Well, a master illusionist hardly needs fancy magic to trick
the mind." Trixie sees her wagon but halts the filly, removing
the gem from her cape once again, giving it a little shine.
"It's taboo for illusionists to reveal their tricks to anypony
they can't trust." She sets the gem on the ground between
herself and the filly.
"You confused Trixie back there because it was obvious which
card you had chosen, from my perspective." Trixie removes the
deck from her hat and hands it to the filly, "If you had looked
down back then you would have only seen the reflection of the
sky, due to your angle. Fan those out and tell Trixie what you
see." Trixie taps the gem.

Nightingale's brows remained furrowed as Trixie began
explaining, though her gaze remained intent on the mare--then
the gem and the deck of cards as they were set out and offered
over. Still not quite understanding the point of it all, she
took the deck of cards with her magic and fanned it out, eyes
turning to the gem beneath. "I see... the faces of the cards.
Which, makes sense for how you knew what card I drew, now. But
I'm still afraid I'm not really sure what you mean..." She
paused. "Oh, wait. I get it for this instance. You understood my
perspective, and what I would've seen--but I don't see how that
relates elsewhere."

"Elsewhere?" Trixie lets out a short giggle. Trixie levitates
all her stuff back into place and continues toward the wagon.
"An illusionist is all about that sort of thing. When Trixie
escapes a box that gets a dozen swords plunged into it, it's
simply a matter of stepping out the trapdoor in the back where
nopony can see. When Trixie frees herself from a padlocked
straitjacket it was never locked to begin with. These sorts of
things are accomplished because Trixie knows what her audience
will see."
Trixie takes a deep breath, "Trixie is... I am telling you this
because my one show, which I didn't think was all that good to
begin with, inspired you to achieve greater talent. If you want
to do what I do then I would be honored to show you how it all
works. You are what others perceive you to be, thus Trixie can
show you how to be great and powerful!"

The filly's head tilted a bit when Trixie giggled, sure she was
missing out on whatever was so funny, but not wanting to seem
stupid in front of Trixie. So instead, she smiled a bit, as if
trying to share in on the joke, before perking her ears as she
listened to what came next. She was actually explaining her
tricks to Nightingale, which was an absolute honor to her. She
gazed up at the mare with her mouth curved into a slight
'o'--only for her jaw to drop even more when Trixie mentioned
being honored to show the filly how it all worked.
Giddily, she grinned up at her idol, nodding quickly in
excitement at the prospect. "Yeah!! I'd love to learn from you!
I can't believe I'll be learning from the best~!" Nightingale
cheered, hooves throwing up in the air in a cheer. Then, when
they returned to the dirt beneath her, she settled herself down
enough to ask, "The, um, perspective thing. How's... Well..."
She tapped a hoof on her chin in thought. "How do I put this...
Since, I use magic for my illusions... And, well, they're not
actually there... What perspectives should I be thinking of...?"

They reach the wagon and Trixie opens the door. "With your magic
you shouldn't take any shortcuts, you'd be found out quite
quickly if you simply changed the face of a card or the like." A
chest full of Trixie's things sits at the end of the wagon and
she slides it forward with her magic a few feet, now in the
middle of the cart she points to it, looking back to the filly.
"Trixie isn't too familiar with your brand of magic just yet,
but would it be possible for you to make a scene of the sky in
front of Trixie's chest there?" Trixie hoped with the small
space of her wagon that wouldn't be asking too much.

Nightingale looked in awe at the wagon as they approached,
excited at the thought of entering the wagon she'd been too
anxious about knocking on the first time around, and had only
looked at from afar. Once inside, she glanced about the abode,
eyes wide in alert wonder. She looked from this and that, taking
in all the sights before her gaze eventually settled on the
chest that was moved to the center of the wagon.
Then, Trixie asked if it was 'possible' for Nightingale to
create a scene of the sky, causing her to grin arrogantly as her
head tilted up. "It is possible! Ha!" she said, before her horn
glowed with a green aura as she gathered up her magic. What she
was about to do would be tricky, and very exhausting... But it
would be worth it, or so the filly told herself. Concentrating
hard, she stared at the chest in front of her, causing the whole
wagon to shift.
The walls, ceiling, and floor of the wagon faded away into a
crisp, soothing blue. The immediate ground beneath both Trixie
and Nightingale changed to a white, fluffy cloud, while the rest
of the floor dropped into an endless expanse of blue. Around
them, more clouds had popped up in an erratic pattern, and none
of them were shaped in any particular fashion or form. A couple
of birds flapped by them, looking mostly realistic save for a
few details--such as the feathers not looking individual, or
detailed, but more like a rough painting, and the colors more or
less blending together or mostly looking uniform. There was no
wind in the scene, nor any sounds in general, but the sights
were certainly there. As she held the illusion together,
Nightingale's eyes screwed shut as she concentrated on keeping
it all running, almost looking like she was forgetting to
breathe.

Trixie gazes in wonder at the magnificent magic for a moment,
but as she looked back to compliment the filly on creating such
a thing she noticed that Nighingale would not be witness to her
trick if she had to keep this up. Trixie lays a hoof on the
filly's head, "That's quite enough, and although very impressive
I would require your audience to teach you anything."
She backs away with a smile, "With that kind of talent you may
one day outshine even Trixie." She knew the filly already far
surpassed her, but hoped much of the credit could go toward her
tutelage.
"Of course, making your illusions seem real is where the real
trick lies." Trixie motions to a trapdoor at the center of her
wagon, she unlatches it, letting it fall open, "If you were to
fall into that sky you created just now, it could quite easily
shock a crowd, and they might believe you truly created a portal
or some such."
