"Oh puh-lease Rarity, tests are the absolute worst. At least
with assignments you have time to do it, with tests, you have no
time, and you can't even remember the stuff you study, making it
harder to pass. And I don't think the design of the tests is
what we should be worried about." she says. Hopefully Rarity
doesn't push the issue, otherwise she would never hear the end
of it. Upon her mentioning Pinkie and Twilight, she says, "I can
imagine Twilight being late, like how she was late last time,
but I'd think Pinkie would at least be here by now. Hopefully
they come soon." she then turns to the other girl. "Oh yeah,
what we got is awesome. But I wouldn't worry about it if I were
you." she says simply, not going into exactly how awesome the
magic they possess is.

"Well the bus seems to be late, so I'm sure they have time to
make it if they overslept. Though both did mention that this
week has been hectic." Fluttershy listened ad turned her
attention the the newcomer, who she somehow felt comfortable
around. When she spoke about the magic Fluttershy smiled and
nodded with her friends.
"Don't forget about the magical wings and pony ears." She added
softly.

Sunset added. She held out a hand. "I'm Sunset Shimmer, it's
awesome to see we have a new student here. Especially one that
found a way to get involved with this trip... Then again, it
looks like we have a few unfamiliar faces around this time.
Maybe I'm just crazy then."

Sona blinked at Rarity, puzzled. But… it was just dirt. But she
tossed the dirty crescent a few feet into a nearby garbage can
and accepted Rarity’s. She didn’t eat it immediately though,
instead listening intently. A smile slowly grew on her face,
lighting it up. She knew it was real! She had told her
classmates, those years ago. Back before she was homeschooled,
when she was in her first year of middle school and so excited
to tell her new sure-to-be-friends about how magic was real. How
it was in each and every one of them, if they were just brave
enough to accept it.
Suddenly, her face fell as she remembered her classmates’
reactions, and realization washed over her. A look of almost
unimaginable hurt passed over her face… An expression that
quickly turned resentful. “You’re having me on,” Sona said, her
voice hurt and a bit angry. She ignored Sunset’s hand as she
gritted her teeth. “Yes, this is my first time. The name’s Sona
Nocturne, and I guess… I guess I just thought people would have
matured a bit since we were twelve. Let me guess, you heard the
rumors about me? ‘Magic Girl’, right?” She clenched her fists,
accidentally crushing the crescent she was holding. “Well,
joke’s on you!” She let out a humorless laugh. “Because I don’t
believe in magic anymore!” she lied. “So… so there!”

Sunset gave a confused expression and retracted her hand. "Uh
who is Magic Girl? No we aren't trying anything on you. Sona we
are sorry if we caused any confusion or unintentional tension.
We really do have powers, I guess we did come on a bit too
strong. Fluttershy just had a conversation with a bird a minute
ago."
She reached out to put her hand on Sona before she was suddenly
able to see Sona's past.
There she was in front of her middle school classmates trying to
convince them that the magic was real. She was describing it in
a way that is exactly what the girls were saying. That everyone
has magic, but the only way to see it is by accepting it. Then
the young Sona went on to talk about how she had a vision of an
alternate universe that they were all in, except instead of
being humans, they were ponies. Some were unicorns, others were
pegasi, and others had neither horns no wings. The students were
all laughing at her and teasing her about it and began calling
her "Magic Girl".
Suddenly she was brought back and released her hand rubbing it
on her head trying to recollect herself.
"Aw Sona. That was a long time ago. Everyone is immature in
middle school too. What you told your classmates was all true.
We really do hold magic, and we all learned to embrace it. There
is a pony universe, one of our friends Twilight has traveled
here from that world. I'm actually from that world... I gave
myself the task to study the magic from the other universe and
understand it. These girls here have all experience magic for
years now and we've used it to take down all sorts of demon
baddies that came to this school... I was one of those demons
once..." She mumbled the last part.

Fluttershy took a few steps back and was shocked. This girl has
obviously had a rough past with topic. "Well... um... if it
makes it any better too... I never heard of any rumor about you.
I can't speak for anyone else though."

Rarity stands up straight, almost drawing back at the sudden
outburst. She sighs, running her brush through her hair a couple
more times before tucking it away in her bag. Utter disbelief it
is, then, and quite the more common reaction out of the two,
unfortunately. She really felt for the girl, even though her own
understanding of magic and the alternate world in general were
rather... limited. If it didn't happen right in front of her,
and then to her... multiple times... Rarity might not have
believed it herself. "Sunset is right, darling. It might come as
a shock, but we really do hold a special gift, and quite
fabulous ones, I might add," she giggles and holds out both of
her hands, palms up as her eyes search Sona's expression.
"Sometimes you just have to see..."

Applejack, on the other hand, didn't seem to flinch an inch at
Sona's reaction. Sure, the girl had every right to be mad, but
Applejack knew a lie when she heard one... And Sona was no
exception. She could tell that the girl had her heart in the
right place, but previous encounters seemed to have put her mind
elsewhere. She grins as Sunset practically speaks on her behalf,
nodding with each point she made. "Ya can't turn a blind eye to
your own feelings, Sona. It's like lyin' to yourself, and then
tricking yourself into believing it. Ya might have been hurt in
the past, and ya might not understand it all that well... But
what we say is completely, totally, one-hundred percent truth."
Applejack tips her hat, watching Rarity as she demonstrates her
own magic. She had certainly been practicing to make something
small enough to fit in one's hand with that much precision and
accuracy... Then again, if anybody was keen to the idea of
beauty and perfection, it was Rarity. "I can tell by that
twinkle in your eye that you truly believe, even though you tell
yourself now that you don't. What does your heart tell you now?"

"I see..." he says, before leaving it at that. Maybe there might
not be any magic here after all. Everyone here seemed normal
enough, it would be hard to imagine this place have ma- “Well,
joke’s on you!” ... Nevermind then. That one sentence was enough
to break him out of his thought, as he looked up to see
something happening. "Magic...?" he murmurs under his breath as
he watches on. As each of the girls comfort her, and show of
their own powers, Broadshield's jaw continues to lower in shock.
As this is happening, the small detector in his hand is going
crazy, recording spikes in magical energy, all coming from that
group. "Holy crap, they were right..." he says to himself,
getting up. "Hey, come with me. I want to check this out for
myself." he says to Octavia before getting up and heading
towards the group.

Octavia watches on with the girls talking to the one who let out
the outburst. She then watches as Broadshield gets up and heads
off. "Oh, uh, wait for me!" she stammers, getting up and heading
towards the group. Upon arriving, Octavia asks the group "Whats
going on here?" she says.
