Race: Griffon
Gender: Female
Claire was a bright and energetic Griffon who seemed to come out
of nowhere. A pony couple found her a few miles outside of
Griffonstone and decided to take her in after no griffons in the
area claimed her. She had a love for learning more about the
universe around her and studying the stars. Her parents noticed
it when she was at a young age.She was always mapping out what
she saw in the sky at night (even though they were quite
terrible when she was still a youngster). The books and
textbooks about space and engineering that were targeted at a
much older audiences interested her and she was able to read and
comprehend them easily. She concluded that she wanted to get
into college and further her studies in these subjects.
Unfortunately, no one in her family has ever attended a college
or university, and to add to that, couldn't really afford one.
This meant scholarships were the only way in. She increased her
chances of getting a full scholarship by playing sports which
she became very proficient in soccer, volleyball, softball and
her favorite, boxing. Balancing school and so many school sports
was stressful so punching things helped release a lot of stress
and it made her quite talented in the ring. All she thought
about were things that angered her and stressed her out which
made her punches much stronger. She actually was able to get a
full ride into Canterlot’s Prestigious University on a sports
scholarship. Her dream was beginning to come true and she
continued Boxing and volleyball into University.
Her studies were going great and she had many opportunities at
hooves on training, until she received word that her parents
were about to be kicked out of their house. That’s when she was
offered money by her volleyball coach which actually was very
illegal in college sports. She had no choice and quickly
accepted it. However, the money wouldn’t last and it was too
risky to receive money secretly by the University. That’s when
she decided to take a different rout of helping shady ponies by
agreeing to blow a volleyball championship game on purpose. The
defeat crushed her and her teammates but they showed support to
her as they thought she just had a bad game. It was so
distracting that she lost in the final round for boxing as well.
Ponies always find a way of finding out, and evidence surfaced
of Clair receiving money to lose on purpose. Controversy swirled
and very soon, she was the most hated athlete on campus and
kicked off the athletic teams, even the coach she spent so much
time abandoned her. There was not enough evidence to prove that
she was guilty, but the media spun the story enough so everypony
believed it was true. The school, in effort to cover up the
earlier event of the coach providing money to her, kicked her
out and her childhood dream ended there. She was heartbroken and
was too ashamed to talk to her parents about what had happened.
Claire fled to Ponyville, hoping that ponies would forget about
her. She tried her best to study through the textbooks she had
left, but it wasn’t enough. However, an advertisement for an
assistant position changed her life once again.
