       Moonlit Vigil
By: A. Capella Schwambart Date: September 24, 2016, 11:40 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
The moon is full and the sky is mostly clear tonight. A
sightseer's dream, if they aren't already in bed. A lone cloud,
however, makes a solitary path around the peak near which
Canterlot sits, tracing lazy circles around the mountain. It
starts near the top, but gradually falls, each successive orbit
taking longer and reaching lower along the slope. An especially
keen-eyed observer, particularly one from above, might notice
some distortion in the air above the cloud, as well as an indent
in the top of the cloud, implying that not quite all might be
       what it seems.
       A. pushes his cloud along, resting atop it and beating his wings
to travel around the peak. He's wearing his fogweave garb but
only carrying his lightest weaponry concealed on his person, an
unstrung short bow and a few throwing knives along with his
tracers. What he doesn't have with him is his glasses, as he's
not particularly planning on looking at anything especially
       close.
He knows that keeping him on a cloud isn't especially good for
stealth, given the lack of clouds tonight, but he's not here to
keep from being seen, just to see. On a clear night like this, a
regular pony can see for miles. He can see much farther than
that, and even though he'd spent his day off doing the same, the
view of the night is completely different, everything taking on
a silvery bluish cast, and the wildlife that's active in the
moonlit hours. He sees it all from his mobile aerial cushion,
wishing perhaps that he'd worn something a bit heavier as he
shivers but not even slightly sorry for having gone along in the
       first place.
Not seeing anything that might indicate trouble, or at least
none that he'd be in a position to stop, he guides his vapory
steed to the bottom tier of the waterfall on the lower edge of
Canterlot and steps off, sending the cloud back on its merry
way. He sits down on the edge, dangling a hoof over as he looks
around from his perch, casting his eyes towards Ponyville.

Ah, what a lovely night. Clear skies, twinkling stars, and a
city silent under the moon. Other than the guards on duty is
relatively peaceful for a certain unicorn. He'd especially enjoy
it, that is, if he was conscious to see it all. Instead, his
altered persona walks about in control of his physical being.
Despite his creators being incarcerated, it doesn't mean he
stops existing. With glowing irises being the only sign of his
control, Agent 04 looks around as he sits atop one of the city's
many roofs. A couple of hours has already been spent on physical
conditioning. Now, it's time to work the magic. The unicorn
looks down at his hooves, each resonating a glow for a moment. A
good start, now to put them to use. The agent adjusts the
sleeves on his green jacket, taking note off the Equinox patch
now stitched on the shoulder. It may not have been his choice,
but with the Directors no longer giving orders, he can only do
so much. His main two directives hasn't changed; keep Foxtrot
alive and resume conditioning when possible. Taking a few steps
back and stretching, the unicorn suddenly sprints forward. A
soon as he reaches the edge, his hind hoofs glow bright with
magical energy. Blasting himself off, he clears a jump that
would certainly fail without magical assistance. No fatigue, no
dizziness; so far so good. And if things stay the same, Foxtrot
will wake up in the morning not having recalled any of this.
Resuming the trial, Agent 04 bounds from roof to roof,
propelling himself when need be. He stays clear of the guards
routes, the last thing he needs are interruptions.

       ---------------------------------------------------------
The silence was soon cut by the whirring of helicopter blades
approaching Canterlot. Anypony paying attention, and had a good
eye for noticing small details would see the Equinox symbol on
the side of the approaching MH-6 Little Bird. Sitting on the
side of the helicopter, hooves dangling over the side of the
open helicopter is Broadshield, wearing his Equinox armour,
balaclava on the seat, M1911 pistol at his side silently
       watching the passing Canterlot landscape.
Soon enough, while the Little Bird is circling around Canterlot,
being sure not to attract any attention by anypony, Broadshield
notices a figure darting around from roof to roof using magic.
'Who could that be? I better check it out in case something
happens.' he thinks to himself before activating his earpiece.
"Buzzkill 2-2, this is Broadshield. Return to base when able,
I'm hopping out. I have something I need to check out."
"Of course Commander, have a good night. Buzzkill 2-2 out." the
pilot responds, before Broadshield jumps down, initiating a HALO
       jump of sorts.
'500, 400, 300...' Broadshield thought to himself as he
continued to drop towards Canterlot. He may have been going down
quick, but HALO jumps always felt like an eternity to
Broadshield. '... 200, 100, NOW!' he counted in his head, before
adjusting so he was going down headfirst. Soon after, he
extended his wings and pulled up, going into a glide, soaring
roughly 50 meters above the buildings of Canterlot. Being so
late, it was eerily quiet. Didn't matter too much, it just meant
he wouldn't be noticed. Now gliding, the wind guiding him
around, Broadshield kept an eye out for the mysterious pony,
before locating them jumping around from roof to roof. Deciding
it would be best to keep his distance, Broadshield maintains his
glide, and the distance between himself and the pony.

Schwambart pulls out his bow and strings it, not planning on
using it or anything, just to do so. He draws it without
nocking an arrow, aiming down his sights at Ponyville. Of
course this bow couldn't shoot that far even if he tried, but it
       helped him focus his vision.
He stops when he hears the helicopter. Ugh, why the helicopter?
They're so loud, and they ruin his concentration. Get lost, he
thinks, looking up towards the chopper. With his new angle of
attention, something else catches his eyes. Who's that leaping
from roof to roof? That's hardly usual. Whatever. If it was
       anything problematic, the guards could...
...No. He glances at his watch and back at the path the leaping
figure is taking. At this time of night, that would keep it
away from the patrolling, which he himself had learned the
patterns of after a while of doing precisely what he'd been
doing tonight. Well, this could bear taking a closer look. He
slips his bow back under the folds of his fogwoven garb, not
unstringing it, and takes off in pursuit, with naught to betray
his passing aside from the soft sound of air on cloth.

Around the town the unicorn bound. His hooves glowing as he
springs into the air with ease. What the two following him may
notice is his occasional stops. A few on roofs, but if they
payed close attention, they'd find him just standing on a wall
as if it were the floor. After several minutes, Agent 04 ends up
on the precipice of a clock tower. It's five minutes to
midnight, the evening certainly young enough for more exercise.
Despite his venturing, he pays little mind to those following
       him.

Broadshield continues to glide, following the pony until they
make their way to the precipice of a nearby clock tower. Gliding
ahead, Broadshield soon lands on the ledge of a nearby tower,
watching over the pony from a distance. From this point, and the
moonlight, he is able to see the pony in better detail. From
what he can see, the pony in question was a male, and he bore
very familiar clothes. But the most striking detail that he sees
is the Equinox patch on the clothes. "An Equinox patch? I don't
remember sending soldiers out here tonight. And those are very
casual clothes for an Equinox soldier, not wearing the standard
issue armour. I better get closer and find out who it is." he
says to himself, gliding towards the tower.

Unbeknownst to the three, there was actually a fourth, silently
trailing the three until they stopped. Unlike the others, this
fourth trailed them silently, keeping to the shadows, hood over
their head as to completely hid their presence and identity.
Pulling out a small notebook, he began writing down notes on the
three, drawing basic sketches of them, ensuring he got every
detail possible on the three. While they did this, they
continued to conceal their presence so that even the most
perceptive couldn't even detect them, even if they tried. "This
might be interesting..." they say to themselves, sticking to the
shadows, watching on to see what would happen next.

Agent 04 peeks down to the streets below. Certainly a long drop.
Roughly the... 5th tallest peak in the city? Preferably a spire
of the castle would be nice. But this will do. The unicorn looks
down to his glowing hoofs, the magic spreading over his legs and
eventually his entire being. Covered in a light aura, he's now
ready for a simple test in magic and physics. After a deep
breath, the agent leaps off. Plummeting towards the ground, he
tucks his legs in to gain as much speed as possible. The timing
has to be right. Not too early, and certainly not too late. 10th
       floor. 8th floor. 4th floor. 2nd floor.
       Pop!
In a flash of light, Agent 04 vanishes. Anyone watching could
conclude that it was teleporting. Confirming when he pops back
into existence at the top of the tower. Instead of staying
still, the unicorn flies through the air, keeping the same
velocity as when he teleported out. A tail of light follows him
as he flies over several blocks, aiming for the top of a flat
warehouse roof. Channeling his magic back to his hooves and
legs, he lands hard with a thud, but is ultimately safe. "Good,
velocity is constant throughout. May need to practice a bit more
       but it's certainly a start."

Broadshield watches silently as the figure takes a dive, before
disappearing for a moment, reappearing at the top of the tower,
now flying. Spreading his wings he trails the figure to the
warehouse, where he himself lands on top of another building a
little bit away. He makes no further movement, silently watching
him and making sure he himself isn't being followed.

The hooded figure continues to watch the three, mainly the one
using magic to fly. "Interesting..." they say to themselves as
they silently trails two of them, ensuring the third doesn't
find them. They follow the two until they get to the warehouses,
where he positions himself inside one of the empty warehouses,
       looking on.
