Name: Astrid

Old: Star Catcher

EASEA: Equestria Administration for Space Exploration and
Aeronautics
A young filly once ran to her mother to ask for permission to
paint her ceiling black. After they helped their daughter She
then proceeded to draw stars, constellations, and planets all
over it. Her parents requested that one small section right
above her bed could be left untouched.
Very soon, on her birthday, they installed a sunroof right on
that blank spot. Every night, she was able to look into the
starry night right above her house. Sometimes she’d dream about
travelling to distant stars and planets. As she grew older, her
dream was much more clear than ‘distant stars and planets’. She
wanted to go to the moon.
It took a few things for her to finally be ready to shoot for
the moon: Supportive parents, a few good report cards, a few
more sleepless nights, going to university in Canterlot’s finest
school of Engineering and Sciences, her service as a pilot and
engineer in the military, and finally a whole lot of time, but
she finally had a picture of her and her cheesy big smile on a
EASEA ID card and was in the cockpit of a rocket ship ready for
launch. Hearing the countdown was the most exhilarating
experience of her life thus far as the rocket successfully
launched and the first part of her long journey to a place not
many ponies have been to was underway.
The long trip felt relatively quick for her and it wasn’t before
long that their landing zone came into view. Her teammates knew
how important this moment was for her so she was first.
Supernova, a name that she had picked up while working for
EASEA, was ready to accomplish a long time dream (also being the
first noctral on the moon which she was unaware of at the time).
The whole moment went by so fast, from sticking the Equestrian
flag on the moon, to playing a little golf, to doing backflips.
Soon, after getting down to serious business of collecting
samples and taking data, it was time to head back down back
home. Their rocket took off safely and they were on path to head
back down.
The crew was awakened to flashing lights and their pilots
scrambling to fix it. They had been hit by some space debris and
was on a collision course with a space station.
Astrid didn’t remember much after that. She woke up once inside
the space station’s care facilities, then again back in
Equestria. Unfortunately, none of her other crew members
survived.
Today, Supernova is an engineer, scientist, and astrophysicist
for EASEA, still being assigned to teams that are sent to the
space station for maintenance and research. The astronaut works
days and nights, researching and analyzing data and information
while designing a better shuttle or rocket ship to make them
safer, more efficient, and hopefully one day, travel farther.
She spends most of her time in not only the labs and facilities
that EASEA has in Canterlot, but also a house in Canterlot where
a lot of her notes and research is done, and an identical one in
ponyville with a very large garage next to it for a shuttle she
is building and tweaking on her own.
Despite having wings, she still prefers the magic of unicorns
and potions to help her achieve zero gravity for periods of
times as she is working on her personal project or just hanging
out. She sometimes asks that her entire room is modified so she
could float around with her tools. Both her houses are covered
in blueprints, tools, leftovers, and pictures of her with
various crews she had worked with.(though she keeps one of the
crew she lost on the moon mission right by her bed). Both her
houses are the same is just one huge room, plus a small open
platform with no walls or railing with a single long ladder to
get up. That platform holds her bed and a small desk that holds
more personal paperwork. Beside the bed is a huge window with a
door that leads to a balcony where she can watch the starry
nights.
