"Yup! She's a traditionalist allright. Heck, you should see what
Granny does to prepare for Zap-apple harvestin'. Now that's a
mighty fine treat." Applejack pulls hard on the rope, almost
straining as her hooves dig into the dirt. "Now I swear... there
wasn't... anything... holding this darn thing..." She staggers
between breaths, releasing the rope as she takes a couple steps
back to adjust her hat and think. "Can't quite see what it might
be caught on." The mare turns around for a moment, trying to
remember where she had put one of her flashlights, but as she
glanced back over her shoulder, Brash was already sliding down
into the well. "What the! Brash, that well's been dry for a
whole season. There ain't no tellin' what kinds of nasty
critters are down there!"
Applejack frowns and scurries off to find her flashlight,
returning just a few moments later as she leans over the well.
It was rather deep; possibly the first one built at the
plantation. It had gone dry last winter, but by then, Applejack
and her brother had installed new ones, so neither of them
worried about it much. Still, it needed to be fixed as it was
connected to one of the larger water supplies. If Brash was
going down... well, she might as well take a look.

"Nasty critters, please." Brash scoffs. She reaches the bottom
of the well, unable to see in the dark she struggles with the
rope until it's free. However in doing so it compacts and slips
upward out of Brash's hooves. "Wha-" Brash stands on her
hind-legs and feels for the rope.
While the area was damp as expected Brash could only feel the
wall she had freed the rope from and none other, meaning the
area had much more space than she expected, which in turn meant
that a nasty critter could very well dwell in this place. Brash
goes completely silent, listening for any indication of life in
the dark.
