Isabelline almost hits the ground as the howl pierces their
conversation. The Tefelhunden's roar was still fresh on her
mind; the next thing she knows, there would be a fire-ball
hurling their way. But... It just seemed like a coyote's call,
or some similar form of dog. The mare relaxes again, nodding at
Runner as her eyes follow the Changeling, who soon disappeared
inside a nearby tent. Isabelline couldn't help but frown again,
but a deal was a deal. She starts to think of ways to break the
dear Changeling, mulling through various methods before Ebony's
call had caught her attention.
"Oh my Luna..." The mare almost croons, carefully taking the
crystalline object and holds it up to the light. "How...
Exquisite. These markings are indeed of having Noctral
characteristics." Isabelline brushes her hoof over the object,
examining it from every angle. "Well, Captain... I am of having
good news and bad news. Good news is, if this is of being some
sort of... Oh, how do the magic ones say? A power stone? Chances
are that this beast is one of a kind... Bad news is, if this is
what I think it is, then somepony deliberately created this
monster." She paused, giving the object another look-over before
passing it back to the Captain. "Unfortunately, I cannot
decipher the scripture. It is of being a dead language, after
all."

"Indeed." Ebony replies, both to Runner and Isabelline. "I'll
have to reach out to some contacts who may know more about this.
In the meantime, the Royal Archives in Canterlot can also hold
some answers. Plus, I'll have to inform Princess Luna of what's
going on." The Captain pockets the gem for later. "If these
things are only coming out at night, it's the responsibility of
the Lunar Guard to sort it out. With whatever assistance Equinox
and the Royal Guard can offer as well."

Runner looks at the strange gemstone as Ebony and Isabelline
inspect it. "Dear Celestia... someone made this damn thing? I
guess its a good thing there's only one dog we need to worry
about here, and its now dead. But then that thing can make
more..." Runner says, muttering the last part to himself.
"Speaking of contacts, I need to also contact the commander, I'm
sure you've met him huh Ebony?" he says, writing a note down
before going back. "I'm positive that Equinox will be able to
assist in this investigation," he says, looking back at the tent
where the Changeling is "And the interrogation as well." he
says. As he says that, another howl cuts through the night, but
this time closer than the last howl. Equinox soldiers not doing
anything important now start establishing basic defensive
positions, walls and cover, sniping positions and more. "Bloody
hell, the last thing I need are those bloody timberwolves
screwing everything up." he mutters. "Someone put down those
timberwolves before they get to the FOB." he says into his
earpiece. Before going back to the two.

"I can have Indigo investigate the Royal Archives while you
follow your lead with Princess Luna," Isabelline comments with a
soft nod, her ears pinning back as another howl pierces the
night. "I need to send word to Canterlot before Indigo completes
her own investigation; this one is of being top priority, and
she should still be in the vicinity. In the meantime, I need to
go visit Ivory to discuss our findings. We are of needing to
round up the whole Crescent for this one..." She sighs and turns
to Runner, glancing at the tent once again as the mare hums in
thought. "Any assistance you and your commander can be of
providing would be truly appreciated, Runner. While I am of
being reluctant to leave the Changeling here... A deal is a
deal. Be sure that somepony gets in touch with me, Runner. I'll
be of waiting."

"Thank you both for helping out with this. Working together I'm
sure we can come to a swift conclusion to all this. Hopefully
before any more lives are lost." He turns back to the town, "I
have to make preparations for my trip to Canterlot. With luck,
that changeling can dish out some information about what's going
on." Glancing over his shoulder, he nods to the two. "If there's
anything else either of you need, reach out to me over at the
Ponyville barracks. I'll be there until tomorrow morning. Good
luck, and stay safe." With that said he makes his way back into
town. His thoughts talking over about the bigger picture that
needs to be seen.

"Thank you again for the assistance, Ebony," Isabelline nods her
head and glances over at Runner. "And thank you, as well, my
friend. When you have, how you say... concluded business with
the Changeling, please let me know. I am of being at our
headquarters, more often than not." She gives one last look at
the tent before turning to fly off. "Feel free to be of calling
me for assistance, if needed. I'll be ready at the... hat
dropping. Yes, dropping hats." She pauses for just a moment,
confusing herself before shrugging and taking off.

"Right, uh, stay safe, and we'll see you soon." Runner says, as
more howls pierce the night, soon interrupted by gunfire as
Equinox and the timberwolves fight it out. If the two, or
anypony else were there, they would hear the sounds of conflict
throughout the night.
