Re: Sunset Grudge - Hex vs Broadshield
By: Hex Date: August 17, 2016, 1:23 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Once the trigger is pulled the first time, Hex uses the last of
the energy in the sunstone to send a beam of fire lancing
towards the pistol. While weaker than normal, it should be able
to reduce the front end to slag and make firing impossible
provided it isn't moved out of the way in time.
At the same time, he shifts his weight off of his right front
leg, which he points toward the edge of the doorway behind him.
The three cables shoot out and latch onto it, then retract to
pull him towards it. The abrupt pull jerks his head into the
path of one of the side bullets, which collides with and
ricochets off his glass eye hole, leaving a crack.
He swings with the pull to throw himself through the doorway,
his toe cables releasing the doorway. He isn't able to catch his
footing before hitting the ground again, but what appears to be
a saloon-style bar stops him before he rolls too far. He pulls
himself around to the other side of it and gets low.
He takes a deep breath and concentrates. The moonstone atop his
helmet glows gently as it releases most of its stored power, and
Hex sighs in relief as most of the pain leaves his wounds. It's
not a proper healing spell, more like a stopgap painkiller, but
at the very least he should quit leaving a blood trail wherever
he goes.
He peeks out from behind the corner of the bar, attempting to
get a view of the doorway through the scattered chairs and
tables in the room.

Broadshield is only able to get himself out of the way of the
beam, but the gun gets turned to a hot, molten pile of metal as
he drops it on the ground. "THAT'S ENOUGH!" he yells out as he
follows him inside the building, pulling out his Vector. Before
he does anything, he throws in a flash grenade into the
building, waiting for it to go off, filling the room with bright
lights and a deafening bang, he moves into cover, before firing
at the bar, some shots penetrating the wood.

Hex's vision swims and his ears ring, and he shrinks as much as
he can while closing his eyes. He doesn't hear the rhythm of the
gun, but he feels a few of the bullets as they sink into his
gambeson, luckily slowed enough by the wood that none of them
make it all the way through.
He opens his eyes and glances around his limited field of
safety, unable to quite see straight. "So yurr surrrr..." He
cuts himself off as he realizes that he can't hear his voice,
the ringing in his ears too loud. The realization that the
pegasus could be sneaking up on him from anywhere sends him into
a panic, and he bolts straight ahead - out from cover, until he
collides and trips over a circular table, taking it with him as
he breaks clean through the wall on the far side of it. Standing
with a groan, he lurches to his left.
Above, the stars begin appearing in the sky. Or maybe he just
hit his head pretty good. Who can tell?

Right as he finishes off his current magazine, he watches Hex
bolt out, only to send himself crashing through a nearby wall.
Quickly reloading, he makes his way to the left side of the
building. Spotting Hex, clearly dazed, he opens fire, bullets
aimed for every part of his body: his head and helmet, his body,
his limbs, making sure he hits something so that Hex can no
longer fight, while keeping his distance in case Hex pulls
something out of his hypothetical sleeves.

Seeing the pegasus come out of the building, Hex leaps. The
Moonstone on his head gleams in tandem with the Moon itself as
it crests the horizon. The area is flooded with a stark white
glow, and time seems to stand still.
The bullets, robbed of their force but not their trajectory,
impact softly on his armor and begin to fall away. Hex pulls his
right foreleg back, preparing to swing downwards as soon as he
lands in front of his opponent.
The spell ends, and abruptly everything returns to full speed.
Hex judged his jump accurately, and lands with a swing where
Broadshield was provided he hadn't moved. The moonstone goes
completely dark, having been completely depleted by the magic;
Hex thinks absentmindedly that he probably won't be able to use
any of its other spells for at least a good ten minutes, even
with how full and strong the moon is tonight. At least he should
be able to see clearly.

Broadshield notices the bright flash of light, his instincts and
reflexes kicking into gear as he begins to pull back as much as
he can before he is stopped. Next thing he knows, he just barely
jumps back, but he briefly loses his footing on a rock,
occupying him for a second. He fires off whatever remains of his
magazine from his Vector at Hex before reloading.

Not wanting to give his opponent room to breathe, Hex charges
forward, placing his head directly in the path of the bullets.
His trust in the helmet proves well-founded; most are deflected,
albeit still stinging when they ricochet, but a few stick onto
the helmet. Once he's close, he swings his head first at the gun
and then at his opponent's head in an attempt to batter him into
submission.

Although Broadshield is able to reload, he is knocked back by
Hex's blows. His weapon on the ground, he takes to the air,
ensuring that he is flying erratically so that his opponent
can't land more hits on him, while he tries to think of another
strategy.

Hex slams his head into the gun on the ground, once, twice,
three times; he's pretty sure that gun won't be firing again any
time soon.
He turns to keep the red pegasus in line of sight, but loses his
balance and stumbles to his right. Sitting, he closes his eyes
and shakes his head to try to clear it; perhaps he'd hit the gun
too hard.

Suddenly, Hex had a heart attack.
Guess he shouldn't have been so lazy.
