Sunset Grudge - Hex vs Broadshield
By: Hex Date: July 2, 2016, 8:38 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
(Open to the first challenger; mainly a way to try fleshing out
his abilities before he gets into a canon fight.)
Hex stalks warily through the deserted streets. His hoofsteps
echoed back to him through the eerie silence of a town whose
name was long forgotten, joined only by the company of his
steady breath. He was grateful that the sun was close to the
horizon; he was ever so slightly too warm in his gambeson, but
didn't dare remove either it or his helm. He would find no
friends here. He couldn't afford to lower his guard.
A faint sound behind him caused him to whirl about, but it
turned out only to be a signpost falling as its fastenings gave
way to untold years of rust. He let out his breath as he turned
       back around.
He was coming to a corner soon. He'd love to have the cover of
the shadows, but he was too noisy to be safe there, where he
wouldn't have enough warning if a threat lying in wait decided
to pounce. He kept to the middle of the road, alert and ready to
respond to any threat he might find.
       Hopefully.

As the stranger makes his way through the seemingly abandoned
town, he would soon find himself surrounded by four hooded and
masked figures, almost like assassins. Before they can do
anything further, a loud voice is heard throughout the town.
"STAND DOWN." The four immediately back away from the
individual, making their way towards Broadshield, guarding him.
"You four, I'll handle this." he says to them before they all
dart away into the shadows. Broadshield continues to silently
stare at the trespasser, who was roughly 50 meters away from
him, the sun at Broadshield's back, almost making it look like
some wild western film where the hero would be facing the
villain, his back to the sun. "You are in the wrong place. This
is restricted area under authority of Crown Princess Celestia,
under the watch of Equinox. I will give you one chance to turn
away, or I will make you pay." he says, pulling out his M1911
and his Katana, his Katana to his side, the M1911 trained
directly at the intruder's head. "Once again. Turn away, or I'll
send you packing." he repeats, a steely, determined look on his
       face, ready to fight.

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Hex tenses as the assailants appear, and doesn't relax even when
they're out of sight. He's seen the barrels of enough guns to
know that he doesn't want that one pointed at him. Thankfully
his helmet protected him from the worst of the sun's glare, but
the pegasus is still irritating to look at.
"Restricted area? Nice signage, then. Hope you're getting a
raise, maybe then you'll do your job." His voice sounds deep,
distorted by the metallic grating through which he breathes.
"Nopony has authority here. Nopony cares. But I guess when
you're this far from civilization, laws don't really matter
much, do they? Times seem pretty desperate wherever. Guess I
can't blame you. But you're certainly not getting in my way."
He closes his eyes for a second to concentrate, and a blinding
flash bursts from the sunstone set into the forehead of his
helm. At the same instant, he rolls to his left and extends his
forelegs; three cords shoot out from each metal boot and attach
themselves to a building about 10 meters in front and to the
right and start retracting, pulling him towards it quickly.

Broadshield couldn't help but smirk at this stranger, acting all
tough, trying to insult him. "I'll be sure to drag your pathetic
plot to the Princess' to explain to you exactly why I'm here,
and I'll be sure to do that once I'm done wiping the floor with
you." he says, noticing the gleam in the stone in the forehead
of his helmet. He's had his experience of flashbang grenades,
and he could only guess that this would do the same thing. With
that, he quickly closes his eyes, and counts to 2. He then opens
his eyes and sees him starting to almost fly towards a nearby
building. "I don't think so." he says, taking aim with his
pistol. Taking aim, tracking the target to score hits, he pulls
the trigger several times, emptying the magazine. 5 bullets
aimed for his body, the other 5 aimed at the thin line. These
bullets had the capacity to penetrate armour and skin. A
successful hit would definitely deal damage to him or the line.

"I'll have you know my plot is- GAHH"
Hex takes a shot directly to his left hip, causing him to
instinctively release his hold with his right boot cables. It
alters his trajectory enough that he only takes one more graze
to his right foreleg and a ricochet off his helmet that leaves
him with a ringing in his ears. Save the retorts for later, I
       guess...
One of the three cables from his left boot takes a hit, snapping
it. He releases the other two and takes aim at another building,
to his left and closer to his assailant. He misjudges and only
connects with one set of cables; and once he starts swinging,
the crumbling stucco gives way and he's left in an uncontrolled
barrel roll. He shouts unintelligibly, on a direct broadside
collision course with the red pegasus.

If Hex was looking, he would have seen a slightly amused and
surprised look on Broadshield's face. Broadshield was slightly
surprised and amazed that he managed to score a few hits.
"Sloppy. If you weren't mouthing off, you'd have easily dodged
them." he says before noticing the assailant barreling towards
him after a misfire from his hooks. Broadshield dodges with
ease, but not before pulling out his katana and making a slash
at the pony while he uncontrollably barreled past him.

A slice across the left shoulder elicits another grunt of pain,
as well as a flash from the sunstone. Fire erupts in all
directions from Hex, giving the area a good scorching.
He lands just beyond the burned ground, kicking up a thick cloud
of dust until he rolls to a stop... several feet away? Hard to
tell through the dust, though at least the sun isn't in his eyes
anymore. He slowly rises to his feet, struggling to catch his
breath. "Hey, we can't... all... be career criminals."
He winces as he puts his weight on his left side, his wounds
sending lines of fire to his brain. He'd have to get that taken
care of soon, but for now about all he can do is stand ready for
whatever form the next attack will take.

Broadshield doesn't see the explosion coming, and he is knocked
back a few feet from the explosion, but is still standing. He
manages to pat out a few small fires on his fur from the
explosion, looking annoyed. "Had enough yet? Or do you insist on
fighting, even though you won't win?" he says coldly. He then
quickly reloads his pistol and takes aim once again at Hex's
head, slowly backing away and creating distance. "You're not
going to win this fight, you never will. Leave now, and you will
leave this place alive. Stay, and you will die alone here. What
will it be, Hex Schwambart?" he says, cocking the pistol,
preparing his katana and rifle, preparing himself for whatever
       Hex does next.

Hex backs away slowly, considering his options. The rapid
disappearance of shadows means that the sun has just about
slipped beneath the horizon; his sunstone, with nearly all the
energy spent, won't be seeing more charge until sunrise. On the
plus side, he can start using the moonstone next to it since the
       moon will be out soon.
He just needs a little time.
"What ever happened to bringing my precious plot-" which bumps
into the building behind him presently- "back to your fairytale
princess?" He edges to his left, towards a door he remembered
       seeing.

"Don't worry your pretty flank, I'll keep to my word. But as for
you, you aren't going anywhere." he says harshly, firing several
more rounds at Hex. The first two shots intentionally aimed to
his left and right simultaneously past his head to scare him.
The next 4 shots aimed at his legs to incapacitate him. The last
4 shots aimed at his head. Two aimed for his face, the other two
aimed for the stones on his helm. With luck, these shots would
easily render his combat ability and capability useless.
