Talent
A. Capella is good at vocal manipulation, mostly manifesting a
talent in singing.
Bio-ish
A. was born the fourth of 9 foals, into a family made of all
three tribes. While not rich, there was always food on the table
and enough money for the occasional luxury. They were happy and
content, and for the most part probably still are.
A. moved to Ponyville to pursue a job as a delivery pony for a
large company. Though he doesn't have Hex's cheery demeanor, he
enjoys long flights and time spent in transit, and delivery pony
lets him get plenty.
A. joined the Vigil after tracking Hex to a small hunt, where he
asked about it and was brought to one of their locations they
could speak with him about it. He was sworn in and had a test
of his abilities, where he attempted to do like his twin brother
did as a melee combatant, but even after some training he didn't
really cut it and was recommended for a non-combatant position
in the organization. However, he chose instead to take up the
bow and arrow and, while his proficiency with it wasn't instant,
he showed an aptitude for it far greater than his hoof fighting
ability. With further training, he developed quite a talent for
archery.
Given his far vision, it was believed a good idea to have him
change his base of operations to a higher location with greater
visibility than Ponyville, so he relocated to Canterlot. The
mostly-Unicorn high society population there doesn't bother him,
as he spends more of his time flying than socializing with them
anyway. He also saw a decent pay raise, more than enough to
make up for the increased cost of living, and lives comfortably
with plenty of money stowed away for a rainy day.
Tools
A.'s main tools are bows and arrows, varying in size, power, and
range. When at a range unsuitable for his bows, he uses
throwing knives.
--Long Range: Short Bow--
Though the shortest range of his bows, the short bow still has
considerable range, especially in A.'s capable hooves. The bow
and the arrows he uses with it are his lightest and most
portable, enough so that he usually carries it and a set of
arrows around, hidden on his person in a false-bottomed bag.
--Longer Range: Longbow--
A.'s weapon of choice when on a mission, his longbow is roughly
as long as he is before the string is pulled back. He tends to
use it from behind or above cloud cover whenever possible for
the best shot, though it's just as good from the ground.
--Longest Range: Greatbow--
Slightly longer than A. is when the string is fully drawn, this
thick behemoth of a weapon requires a great deal of strength to
use. For best results, the bottom tip should be anchored in the
ground before pulling back. The arrows themselves are large,
thick projectiles of metal, stone, or similar heavy and durable
materials. With this bow he can fire from Canterlot to
Ponyville with centimeters' margin of error, but it's best used
against large or stationary targets due to travel time at longer
ranges.
Due to the size and weight of the bow and the arrows, A. rarely
takes it with him on hunts, preferring to use it from his
stockpile location near the outer wall of Canterlot. When he
does take it, he brings 5 of the arrows at most, as more than
that slows him down considerably. Firing it is also very loud,
though most of what that means is that he needs to wear earplugs
or suffer temporary hearing loss and tinnitus.
--Glasses--
A. is farsighted with weak vision close up. He's better without
his glasses when using his bows, but to see anything very close
he needs his glasses. Without them, things closer than twenty
feet start getting a little blurry and by the time they're 5
feet he loses all ability to see detail or read anything but the
largest print. Closer than 2 feet and it's all just blobs. He
always keeps a spare pair on him.
--Knives--
A. uses double-ended throwing knives or barbed ones with
handles. He's nowhere near as accurate with them as he is with
his bows, so he makes up for that with numbers, throwing up to
five at a time over variable amounts of spread. This does mean
that he generally runs out quickly, though. In melee combat, he
attempts to stick his barbed knives into his target so he or an
ally can strike or yank at them to cause extra damage and pain.
--Tracers--
A.'s strength is not in melee combat, and he knows it. His
entire strategy is to pick off targets from range, and if
somepony or something closes on him he's aware that he's not
likely to win any hoof-to-hoof fight. If cornered without his
knives, he has one strategy: Blind them. He carries a pair of
longer knives that glow with a strange light, one that glows
gold and one that glows viridian. They leave bright
after-images in the air when he swings them. His basic plan is
to flail about with them wildly, distracting any assailant and
perhaps blinding or disorienting them long enough for him to
make an escape or for somepony to help him.
--Fogwoven Garb--
A.'s well-being as a long-range bowman can often depend on his
ability to remain unseen by what he hunts. To that end, he had
commissioned a special outfit that makes him more difficult to
see. It blends in with his surroundings, and though it's far
from perfect camouflage it's especially effective at a long
range, as he prefers to be at. He hasn't told anypony who he
commissioned it from, and he's still paying it off.
