"Then we're agreed." Brash states, looking to Applejack and
Rainbow Dash. "You Helements of Armory lot can stay upstairs
where it's safe, groups of at least four will ensure nopony gets
outnumbered if we're looking at more than one assailant. Maybe
we could move to the kitchen and get some food. We all came here
expecting dinner and I'm willing to bet the murderer thought
about that as well, thinking we'd be too scared to eat and fall
to fatigue. I say we get our energy up so we can keep our wits
about." Brash expects all her reasoning will lead to free food
and she turns toward the kitchen.

Applejack glances at Ocean Spray, giving him a subtle nod of
appreciation as she reaches up to adjust her stetson around her
head, still partially waterlogged and dripping from the rain.
"Ah'm glad somepony agrees. Safety in numbers, y'all. Don't get
caught dawdlin' behind or go-" she winces as Trixie trips up on
her own cape, flinching as the rather enthusiastic mare tumbles
down the flight of stairs, ending with a solid thud at the
bottom. "Chargin' in..." Applejack finishes her thought, quite
literally just leaving it hanging in the air over what just
happened. She peeks her head around the corner of the staircase
to see how far it spirals down, waiting for everypony else to
file down before following. Except... Brash seemed to have other
       ideas.
While the filly was rather insightful for her age, Applejack
simply couldn't allow her to wander off on her own. She strained
to listen to what was going on downstairs, but ultimately
stepped away to retrieve the wayward filly. "Ooohhh no you
don't, little one. I don't know how ya got wrapped up in all
this mess, but it stinks worse than wet geese in a chicken pen.
Groups of four or not, this is exactly how ponies get picked
off." Applejack paused for a moment to let her words sink in.
Putting her hoof down on the matter here and now would be the
best thing she could do. "However," she added, pining her ears
towards the conversation downstairs. Something about Morgan and
colts? "If we get split up, groups of four would certainly be
the best. I like yer thinkin'."

"Applejack is right we better.... wait! Don't go yet!"
Fluttershy's eyes darted from Applejack to Brash. "What do we
do, she is all alone!" Her ears did twitch at the conversation
she was picking up downstairs which left her in a visable puddle
       of sweat.

Tinder follows Morgan down the stair and looks to her as this
new fact comes out, she thinks on it for a moment before shaking
her head. "I've known Morgan for years, she would never do
something like this! That's not the type of person she is. I'm
sure there are a lot of things in that book about us that would
probably make us all seem like likely suspects."

"Right, big dark scary secret passage in a dark scary house
where at least one of us is a killer? No thank you very much,
thank you very much!" Clarity says, hugging Clair against her,
who continues to fiddle with the bow on her belt. "Or..." She
looks contemplatively between Clair, the passage, and the former
Element Bearers. "Well...not for Clair, anyway. Here, if I
can't trust you with Clair, I can't trust anypony with
anything," she says, lightly pushing Clair towards Applejack,
and again when he doesn't budge. The second time, he walks
forward until he's leaning against AJ, looking back forlornly at
his twin. "But..." he starts, ears drooping.
"No buts," Clarity says sternly, though her own face betrays her
own reluctance to part. She trots to the top of the stairs,
then stops and looks back. "...Keep an eye on them, will you?"
she jokes, cracking a half smile to him. He doesn't respond,
and she disappears down the passage after the others.
"Whoah whoah whoah. Blackmail? Personal secret assassinations?
This guy is...was more messed up than I thought!" Clarity says
from the back of the room. She waltzes up to Morgan and looks
her dead in the eye. "I don't think we're going to find
somepony with a better reason to end him...aside from maybe
me...and y'know what, I am fine with that. The colts,
though..." Clarity shivers, looking away. "Bullies or not,
killing ponies like that is...beyond the pale. But...I bet
you've suffered enough for doing that, haven't you?" Clarity
turns around and addresses the rest of the room. "I think she
did it, but I don't think I'd mind if she did. And I'm scared
crapless to try to confront her about it anyway, so..."

"No... At least for these other ponies, they all had a
consistent story." Caleb responded to Tinder without looking up.
"Morgan's page says one thing and that's it." He closed the book
and placed it back on the table. "Morgan, I'm sorry but this
seems serious. And... they are right, I think being around
somepony that knows how to kill already just convinces me even
more. I don't know where the other ponies went, but I'm with
       Clarity."

Trixie had trouble deciding what move to make upon the
revelations of Morgan's situation until Caleb and Clarity spoke,
"Well, well, well." She speaks up, moving next to Clarity. Then
looking to Morgan, "There's no doubt you're more capable of
murder than anypony here. The Great and Powerful Trixie wouldn't
personally persecute you for the death of that foul man, but for
the safety of everypony here Trixie suggests you be kept under
watch." Trixie raises a light spell, "You're the one who led us
down here so Trixie is now certain this is a trap, let's go
upstairs with everypony else before these candles go out and you
hatch whatever scheme it is you're up to." She points up the
stairs hoping to get out of the stuffy basement.

Morgan bites her lip and looks around before cleaning her
glasses nervously moving away from the group. "But...but... I
wouldn't... This just... all..." Tears nearly formed in her eyes
from frustration. "I didn't do it!"
Almost right as she said that the lights in the room went out.
The room was incredibly dark though with Trixie's illuminated
horn, the group would be able to at least see Morgan run up the
stairs with the aid of the torches on the wall.

Caleb tried to dive at Morgan before she ran up the stairs but
he missed actually busting his chin on the stone floor.
"Dammit!" He shouted rubbing it. When the lights came back on he
pointed up. "Quick, up the stairs! She is getting away!"

"Look, we all need to stick together, safety in numbers and all,
but we can't go into some dark, old cramped place like down
there, if the killer is down there with all of us, who's to say
they can just kill everyone in the room like some murder room or
something like that?" she says. Soon she starts to hear
commotion downstairs, and a lot of yelling. "Hey! What's going
on down there!?" she calls down below, genuinely unaware of
       whats happening.
