With the mare's permission, Hazard began to get a few
measurements, mostly on and around the hooves, though he took a
couple from her head and midriff. It only took a couple of
minutes before he was happy and stepped away, "all done," he
told her, "I should have them ready by tomorrow, if that's okay
with you?"
Iron spoke up in answer, "that'll be fine. I'll pay you when I
pick them up," before turning back to Ryo, "we'll just have to
be careful for today," he told her, "that's everything, thanks
Hazard," he gave the other stallion a small wave before heading
back to the door, "suppose we'd better actually go and open the
store,"

Ryo stood still for the measuring, moving when needed, letting
Hazard take all the measurements he needed. Once he was done,
Ryo took a step back, happy that she provided what was needed.
"Okay" Ryo said as she returned to stand besides Iron. Ryo
wasn't sure, if the question was for her, but thankfully Iron
replied, before Ryo came to a conclusion that it was for her.
Ryo nodded with a small blush, smiling sheepishly as she said "I
do my best" this time not outright promising to not get burned
or anything. Ryo too waved, thanking Hazard, before following
Iron once more, out from the store. Iron including her in the
store opening by saying "We" made Ryo feel important, and she
smiled widely, nodding to Iron. "Yeah... Maybe i can pick some
tips on that fire starting too"

With Ryo behind him, Iron led them back out into the street.
They weren't in there long, but the street was noticeably busier
than when they went in. Not wanting to hang around, he went
walking through the streets back to his forge. The entire way,
he was in his head, admittedly a little unsure where to begin
with teaching Ryo. Though, as she'd asked, he figured the magic
was a good spot, and likely the best, since she clearly had some
skill with smithing already. He'd need to watch her work more
before he could decide on the best places to guide her.

Ryo followed Iron, doing her best to dodge the sudden crowd that
had already appeared on the street. She said sorry more than few
times, to ponies she bumped on, most of them snobby nobles, that
barely spared a gaze at the small mare. Letting out a sigh of
relief, as they arrived back to the forge, Ryo followed Iron
inside. "I never realized the streets get this busy this fast"
Catching her breath from rather frantic dancing between the busy
ponies, Ryo sighed again, before saying "R-ready to open the
shop" with a smile

"Yeah," Iron agreed with her, "it's what happens when you live
and work in the central business area for the pony capital of
Equestria," he pointed out, "the place is a center for trade.
With the way the trains run, practically everything that is
shipped anywhere, goes through Canterlot," he continued to
explain, as he made his way into the forge area, "now, since
your safety stuff won't be ready until tomorrow, that means I'd
prefer to keep you away from the forging stuff. And, I'll need
to see more of your work before I can actually guide you...
so..." he trailed off, bringing over a couple of unlit candles,
"you wanted to learn fire magic, huh?"

Ryo chuckled nervously, as she felt like she was indirectly
reminded about the little burns she managed to get the day
before. The mare silently agreed, that one dagger alone was
probably not enough to base the evaluation of her skills on. Ryo
curiously followed Iron, as the stallion trailed off, moving out
of the way as Iron returned with few candles. Staring at the
candles, Ryo nodded eagerly "Yeah" She hopped over to Iron,
Ready to follow him to the "designated practice area". That
being something that's not easily ignitable. Ryo was quite
proud, that she did remember that warning from before. "I do!"

Admitted, Iron had never taught anypony how to use fire magic,
and even what he knew was self-taught, his father having been an
earth pony, and his mother not having needed such magic. In the
blink of an eye, one of the candles lit up, "there, fire," he
began, "the easiest way to create it, is to first understand
it," he stated, "the way it moves, how it reacts, what is needed
to create it," he listed off, "that last one can catch you out.
Fire primarily needs fuel and oxygen. Until you ignite the
source, your magic acts as the fuel. Even if it's only for a
moment," for him, that was the largest hurdle in learning this
magic.

Ryo watched, as the candle sparked to life, a gentle flame
dancing on the wick in a blink of an eye. Thankfully Ryo didn't
blink, so she saw the flame appear. Sadly, she didn't know how
Iron did it from simply seeing it happen. Ryo stared at the
flame, nodding as Iron listed of basic things to create fire.
Ryo looked back at the flaming candle, after Iron stopped the
explaining, running over the things that were just told to her
in her mind. She then slowly turned to look at an unlit candle.
She wanted to say she knew how fire moved, and reacted, but she
was very unsure if she knew anything at all, when talking about
fire magic, instead of regular fire. Ryo thought for a moment,
before saying "Okay, i'm ready to try" with a nod, her horn
lighting up, light blue hue appearing on the wick of the candle.
Ryo stared at the wick furiously, the blue glow getting
stronger, before it began to smoke a little. The wax of the
candle also melted a little, few drops of wax running down the
candle, but the candle wick didn't catch fire. Ryo's magic died
down, and the mare looked at the candle, clearly a bit
disappointed that it didn't light up

Iron watched as Ryo put all her focus into the task, simply
hoping that his explanation helped. Admittedly, it was tricky
explaining something that he just... did. Nopony had taught him
anything, it was simply self learnt. As her horn glowed, things
seemed to slow down, Iron held his breath. He wasn't expecting
much from her first attempt, but he was pleasantly surprised
when he saw the candle wick begin to smoke, and the wax begin to
melt, before she finally gave up. Iron gave her an encouraging
smile, "not bad," he congratulated her, "though, don't try to
force it too much," he offered, "the best I can think of is that
you're trying to create a source of ignition, the heat effecting
the candle as it did. You need to create, conjure flame," he
scratched at his head, not sure how to put it into words,
"perhaps creation might be a little hard to start with... how
about you try to manipulate the flame first," he suggested,
nodding towards the candle he had lit, "it would help you to
understand it, and perhaps make it easier for you to create
flame,"

Ryo turned back to Iron, to get more insight to creation fire.
Looking back at the candle hat was already lit, Ryo gave a small
nod "Okay... I'll try..." Maybe she did try to advance too fast.
After all, if she did just, make fire, it would have been too
easy. Ryo thought for a moment, first thinking about asking Iron
for how she should try to manipulate the fire, but she then
decided to try and show again, what she was capable of doing.
"O-okay... Here i go" Bad idea, really. She had no idea, what
Iron would have wanted to see her do. Or what counted as
"manipulating" in this sense. Ryo took a firm, albeit still
nervous stance, as she stared down at the candle. Starting easy,
Ryo used her magic to make the flame wobble a little, as if a
gentle wind had blown on it. Achievement on it's own, really, as
Ryo had not accidentally put the flame out. Using the same
technique, Ryo began to first flatten the flame gently, before
forcing it to take a taller form. "Baby steps..." Ryo said
silently to herself. She then turned to the other candle, moving
it right next to the first one. She moved a little bit closer,
staring at the dancing flame, before lighting up her horn once
more. Her magic cut a small portion of the candle wick, taking
the fire with it, and moving it over to the other candle. A
happy gasp escaped her mouth, as she had been holding her breath
during this crucial attempt to move fire for mere centimeters.
Time for something more advanced, Ryo thought in her mind. Her
horn glowing once more, Ryo began to try and pull a part of the
fire away from the candle it was on now, and to light the other
candle with it, but the fire kept going out, dying. Ryo tried
multiple times, failing every single time, the flame simply
going out as it lacked a source of fuel. Getting a little
panicky now, her need to show that she could at least do
something right, Ryo began to think about fire in her mind. What
it was, and what it needed to live. Oxygen. That's it! That
could help the fire to jump. Ryo did her best, to try and make a
small bridge of oxygen between the candles, a line surrounded
by her magical aura appearing between the candles. After she was
satisfied with the bridge, Ryo grabbed a small portion of the
fire again, and as quickly as possible, she pulled it on the
bridge. The oxygen burned faster than Ryo managed to realize,
but much to her surprise, the other candle was now also lit up.
She wasn't done, another idea striking her mind. Utilizing the
same technique she just did, Ryo tried to do the same process
she had done with the bridge, but faster. After mere seconds,
Ryo fed the small fire the small ball of magic she had created,
actually making the fire to grow for a moment, before it burned
out the magic given to it. "D-did you see that!?" Ryo asked in
giddy tone, jumping in place, as she had just fueled the fire.
But wait, Ryo suddenly stopped her jumping, and looked back at
the candle. Oxygen doesn't work like that. Did she... Just fuel
it with her magic alone? If she did, she suddenly had no idea
how she did it. Ryo turned fully back to the candle, and
repeated what she did before, this time putting all her might
into it, trying to achieve a continuous fuel source with her
magic. She closed her eyes, and started to conjure the spell,
but doubt clouded her mind, now that her previously genius
revelation turned out to be false. Strands of magic started
forming around the candle once more, as Ryo built them up,
trying to do it like she did before, before she then fed them to
the fire. What followed, was not something Ryo had tried to do,
nor expected to happen. The fire grew momentarily, before
flashing brightly. It then fell off the candle, landing on the
table with a sharp clink. The flame had turned into an orange,
flame shaped crystal. Ryo blinked, staring at the crystal wide
eyed, before looking at Iron, hoping the stallion to know what
just happened
