So far so good. Ryo seemed to know what she needed, despite how
nervous she was. Iron was definitely impressed, "right this
way," he invited, leading her to the back and around a corner.
There, Iron kept all his materials, various bins and boxes,
filled with either raw ingots, or pieces of recycled metal from
things that hadn't worked or the like. There was even some
unprocessed ore that he hadn't gotten around to dealing with,
"in there is all the materials I have on site," he stated,
before leading her back to the work area, "as for tools, they're
mounted on the walls, or on work tables," he indicated, hoping
she'd familiarise herself with the locations before too long,
"and if you wait here..." he trailed off, before leaving her
alone for several long moments, an occasional clatter from
upstairs as he rummaged through his things, before finally
returning, "here, try these," he offered, floating over a pair
of goggles, "they're a spare set I've had," he explained, "I'd
give you some boots, but I doubt I have your size," he chuckled,
"so I just ask that you be careful,"

Ryo followed Iron to the material storage, looking over at the
pieces there, nodding, already spotting good piece of scrap she
could use. Ryo took notice of the locations of tools she asked
about, doing her best to memorize every box that was showed to
her. Ryo looked after Iron, only muttering word "O-okay..."
Staying still, until the stallion returned after what felt like
a good while. Ryo watched him return with goggles, actual, high
quality goggles meant for something like this. Ryo's eyes
beamed, as she accepted the goggles, placing them on her head,
and adjusting the strap so that they fit well. Ryo nodded at the
lack of protective boots, and said "I'll be careful" Ryo lowered
the goggles on her eyes, took a deep breath, before exhaling.
She nodded, more to herself than Iron, as if to tell herself
that she was ready to start.
Ryo did her best, to zone Iron's presence out, so that she'd
work like no pony was watching. Like how she did back at the old
forge. She looked at the forge, the fire still strong in it.
Marching to the material storage next, Ryo picked bits and
pieces she deemed good enough for her project. Having chosen a
cut down bar of steel, Ryo placed it in the forge, to heat it
up. Once red hot, Ryo used her magic, and tongs to bring the
steel bar out from the forge, setting it down on an anvil, Ryo
picked up a hammer from the wall, and began to shape the piece.
Ryo worked in silence, Though she was clearly nervous, throwing
nervous glances towards Iron, to see if the stallion was still
watching. She quickly directed her side glances back at her
work, especially when her eyes happened to meet with Iron's. One
in shape, Ryo grinded, and heat treated the blade once. She then
set the blade down, and began to work on the guard

Moving over to the guard, Ryo had spotted a piece of steel, that
already possessed a similar shape to what she wanted to make.
Ryo heated the metal, cutting a part of it away, before starting
to carefully mold the guard, making it thinner and wider. She
then began to hammer more details to the guard, forming it to
the shape she had planned. Ryo then took the guard, heating the
middle of it up in the forge. Once red hot, she set it down on
the anvil, and hit a hale in it for the blade to go through. Ryo
then grinded and polished the guard, setting it down on the
table next to the blade.

Ryo then ran back to the material storage, soon emerging with a
chunk of wood. She used her magic to cut roughly the size of a
piece she needed, setting the rest aside. She began to profile
the wood, forming it to fit on the dagger blade. Keeping the
details at minimum, as she threw a look outside, and saw the sun
already setting. She had not even realized how fast the time had
passed. She set the rather undetailed grip on the table, and
then grabbed a chunk of steel that was left from the guard.
Quickly heating it up, Ryo began to hammer it, making it as
round as she could, before setting the hammer down, and starting
to file the steel ball, making it round. Ryo set the pommel down
on the table with the rest of the pieces.

Ryo then grabbed the blade again, and took a chisel and a hammer
to it, starting to carve some details to the blade. She had to
leave those details to minimum as well, as the day was really
nearing it's end. Ryo added small notches to the ends of the
blade's handle, and the pommel, to help her put the dagger
together. Quickly grabbing the pieces, Ryo slid the guard in
place, heating the other end of the blade a little, before
burning the grip on it's place. She struck rivets on the handle,
not spotting that the handle cracked a little. Ryo then took the
pommel, pushing in in it's place, giving it a twist, locking it
in it's place. She set the dagger on the work bench, fetching a
tiny nugget of gold, and with her magic, carving her name on the
dagger, adding gold layer to the carved name.

Ryo then ran to Iron, and set the dagger down in front of him,
panting as she was ready. Her hooves were shaking, and there
were few burnt marks on them. But she had failed to feel the
burns, as she had worked. Unaware, of how many hours it took
her, to Ryo the making of the dagger felt like mere minutes. The
sun was setting outside, so it had been at least half a dozen of
hours since she had started. Ryo didn't actually say anything,
but she waited for Iron's opinion, and judgement on the dagger
she had made. At first glance, the dagger could have been called
beautiful even, but closer inspection would reveal many things
one could have done better. Ryo raced the things in her head,
that she could have done better, but fixing any of them was too
late now.

Iron watched Ryo work for the first hour or so, pleased to see
that she certainly did seem to know what she was doing. Knowing
that this could take some time, he decided to busy himself with
other odd jobs, not wanting to get in her way as she worked, so
picked odd cleaning and organising things here and there. Every
so often, he found himself back to watching her, seeing the
progress she made, and what she was doing now, before leaving
her to it one again. He was glad to have given her the rest of
the day, noticing that she was taking advantage of that to
really show off her skill.
As the sun began to set, the skies turning a vibrant orange and
the shadows beginning to lengthen, Iron was met by Ryo, and her
now finished dagger. He took the weapon in his magic, noting
that she had managed to burn herself in a few places, but was
seemingly more interested in her work and his appraisal, but he
made the mental note that she would need boots of some kind if
she continued to work here. Putting that thought aside, he began
to assess the work. He wagered that, to somepony that hadn't
worked with metal in the past, it would be an impressive piece,
but Iron was able to notice the small imperfections. He looked
at it from every angle, scanning every last part of it. After a
moment, he looked back to Ryo, "the balance is a little off," he
began, "not to mention there's a few imperfections here and
there... but it's a good piece," he congratulated, "I can
certainly see your potential," he added with a warm smile,
"well, miss Ryo, the job's yours, if you want it,"

Ryo bit her lip, the seconds turning to minutes, as Iron
inspected the dagger she made. Even a second longer could have
caused Ryo to faint, But she visibly eased a little, when Iron
finally spoke. Her ears perked up, as she listened to the
feedback, nodding at the things listed, that needed work. The
tension rose with every thing listed, before Iron said, that it
wasn't a disaster. Ryo hadn't realized she was holding her
breath, a gasp audible from the blue mare, as Iron finally
congratulated her, and told her, that the spot was hers, if she
wanted it. Ryo's nervous expression turned into one confusion,
then joy, when the mare grasped the fact that she had succeeded
in her test. "R-really!?" She asked, before jumping up and down
in joy. "T-thank you! I-i promise to always do my best!" Ryo
said, jumping to hug Iron, but managing to stop herself mid way,
chuckling nervously. She then bowed her head a little, thanking
Iron again "W-when can i start?" Ryo asked, her eyes now
suddenly taking a momentary glance at her hooves, as she began
to feel the burnt spots now

Ryo's enthusiasm startled Iron at first, making him wonder just
how much she'd needed the job. It went quite a way to explaining
why she was so nervous about this entire thing. Starting? Now
that was a question, "well, I'd say now, but..." he trailed off,
looking outside and the setting sun, "so, you can start
tomorrow," he told her, "of course, that's if you're able to,"
he added, making sure to accommodate any other plans she might
have made prior to this, "just try to get here not too late
after sunrise," he explained, "and I can go into the ins and
outs of the job from there. How's that sound?"

Tomorrow? That sounded wonderful. Better than wonderful. "I-i am
able to! I'll be here before sunrise!" Ryo said excitedly,
hardly staying in her coat from all the excitement. "That sounds
wonderful, i can't wait" Ryo said, bowing her head again.
"I-i'll see you tomorrow! Thank you again" Ryo said, practically
running out to get home and into bed as early as possible, so
she'd be up the first thing in the morning. Ryo left the forge,
the door closing behind her, before she then returned mere
minutes later, chuckling nervously as she left the goggles she
borrowed on the counter. Once the door closed behind the mare
again, Iron could hear her cheer, followed by somepony yelling
at her, telling her to shut up, that followed by Ryo
apologizing.
The next morning, Sun wasn't even visible yet, as an alarm goes
off. Ryo wakes up to the abysmal sound that is her alarm clock.
On any other morning, she would have shut it down, and returned
to sleep. But not today. Hopping out of her bed, Ryo grabbed a
quick snack, scooping some food into her saddlebags, before
heading out. She ran most of the way, before arriving at the
forge she had spend her entire yesterday at. Looking up at the
sky, Ryo spotted the sun barely visible. She was in time. For
once... Ryo sat down at the small porch, waiting, and catching
her breath

Iron was glad to hear that she was so eager to get started as
soon as possible, making promises that she'd be here bright and
early. It wasn't that Iron doubted that, but he'd like to see it
happen first, "okay, then I'll see you tomorrow," he nodded,
bidding her farewell. With her gone, he began to pack up,
putting away the work he hadn't managed to finish so that he
could continue next chance he had. He was, of course,
interrupted by Ryo's return, noticing she left the goggles
before darting off again, giving him a good chuckle. From there,
it was end of day as normal, packing things away, cleaning the
forge fires, and getting things ready for tomorrow, which was
looking to be an interesting day.
The morning was just like any other, waking up as the sun rose,
washing, grabbing a light breakfast, and heading downstairs to
his forge. He spent a few moments ensuring nothing was out of
place before heading to unlock before getting things started.
The moment he opened the door, he wore a look of complete
surprise, before recovering, "well, good morning miss Ryo," he
inclined his head, "true to your word, it seems," he added,
inviting her in.

Ryo jumped a little when the door of the forge was suddenly
opened "G-good morning Mister Ironfire." Ryo said, hopping up,
giving Iron her now regular bow of her head. "J-just Ryo is
enough." She said. Ryo chuckled a little, nodding to Iron with a
smile "I p-promised to be here on time, didn't i?" Ryo felt
quite determined, feeling like she made a good impression,
marking it down on her mental list of things she has done well
so far. She followed Iron inside, ready to get started on her
first official day working there. Part of her still thought,
that maybe she was just dreaming still

Iron lead her into the forge proper, "you most certainly did, so
I'm glad you're proving to be a mare I can rely on," he
answered, the mare clearly making some good impressions on him,
"well, with you here so early, I'll be able to show you how I
start the forge up in the mornings..." he began, before looking
at her properly, "okay, one thing, are you able to conjure a
small flame?" he asked, wondering how much a blank flank would
effect her magic, "that aside, I'll take you somewhere else,
first," he finished explaining, something else on his mind
before getting things started.

Ryo smiled widely, genuine happiness well visible on her face.
She was doing so well! "Ready to learn" Ryo announced happily,
before tilting her head a little. "C-conjure a flame...?" Ryo
repeated slowly "I-i have never tried..." Okay, so was that a
second test? Ryo began to think, how does one conjure a fire.
Her train of thought was interrupted by Iron though, when the
next part of today's schedule. "Somewhere else?" Ryo asked, once
again, confused
