Broadshield watches on silently as Foxtrot runs the course.
Suddenly the door opens, a pony making their way inside, the
lack of light preventing anyone outside, and even inside the
observation deck to properly identify various aspects of the
pony. "Hello Szar, so I've been hearing rumors of you cutting me
off, having to wait for you to land, and taking our driver?" he
says jokingly to the pony. "Yeah well, I've also been hearing
rumors about you recruiting a new soldier, and I wanted to watch
over his assessment. I hear he wishes to be part of the Intel
Unit, 1st Lieutenant?"
"You'd be correct. He's had combat experience before we met.
Before the 26, he was part of the Royal Guard. I'm confident in
his abilities as a soldier, and I feel he would make to be a
fine and competent Intel Agent. Speaking of which..." he says,
turning his attention to Fox, who has just finished the course.
"Alright Fox, the average time for this course is 2 minutes 30
seconds, the best being 1 minute 50 seconds. You finished the
course in 1 minute 32 seconds. A new record. I'd expect nothing
less from a pony with your ability. Next assessment will be
armed combat training. Stand by." he says, flipping a few
switches, pressing a few buttons, and pulling one or two levers,
the room begins to transform. Most of the walls in the obstacle
course sink back into the grid slots, with some walls to rise
back up once again, eventually forming a target range. "Alright
Fox, the next assessment will be to assess your proficiency with
these new firearms. With each weapon available, you will need to
hit 3 various targets, which are at 10 metres, 25 metres and 50
metres, and 100 m for the sniper. This will go on until you have
depleted the mag. This part of the assessment will be concluded
as soon as you have gone through every weapon." As he says this,
a soldier wheels out a table with various weapons, which are: a
7 shot M1911 pistol, a 20 round MP5 SMG, a 30 round ACR, an 8
shot SPAS 12, and a 5 round M40 sniper rifle with a bipod and
12x magnification round. "Alright Fox, choose your first weapon,
and you may begin when ready."
((You can decide how accurate your shots are, I don't really
mind))

Foxtrot approaches the firearms and scans each of them. Although
the unicorn has had absolutely no training with any of them,
there's no better time than now to see how he stacks up. Going
for the pistol first, he examines every detail with scrutiny.
Dividing up his rounds, he takes aim at the 10, 25, and 50
meters. Firing all but one round, his marks aren't dead center,
but fall just within inches of it though. With his last round,
his hoofs glow as they aim towards the 100 meter target. The
grooves and sighting of the weapon them begin to glow as he aims
down the sights. As the last round fires from the chamber, a
trail of magic encasing is seen around it, as well as a bright
chaser. Halfway through the trajectory, it drastically alters
course towards the mark. Regardless, the bullet falls 13 meters
short. For the next few minutes, the unicorn repeats the exact
same process with the corresponding amounts of shots. Always
saving the last round for the 100 meter mark; each shot gets
progressively closer, the ACR actually landing on the edge of
the target. He finally gets to the M40, a sharp grin appearing
on his face as he lays down and adjusts the sights. Foxtrot
first fires at the 50 meter target, hitting it dead center.
Moving to the 100 meters, he resumes firing all but one round;
overall each impact falls within the second or third tier of the
target. Now on the last one, he takes a deep breath and charges
the rifle, sweat now appearing on his brow as his breathing
becomes more labored. With a twitch of the hoof, the round flies
into the air, appearing like a small comet. It punctures within
an inch of the target, a small smile growing on his face. "Yea,
it wo-" Suddenly, for just a second, Foxtrot blacks out; a
consequence of overextended his magical endurance. He wakes back
up before his chin can even hot the ground. "Work! Uh... yea.
Let's see how it went down." Looking at the targets, he finds it
better than expected: experience with his crossbow pistol
translates well with the 1911, although everything else needed
more work.

Both Broadshield and Szar watch on from the observation deck as
Foxtrot goes through the next part of the assessment. "His
physical ability is impressive, but his weapons use could use
more work. Many of the new recruits are able to get closer to
the center with each weapon." Szar mutters. "True, but during
his time in the guard and the 26, I don't think they would've
used firearms. But I will offer him extra time in target
practice"
"You're the boss." Soon, they both notice Fox firing at the 100
m targets, his hooves glowing before he fires, bullets coming
closer to the target. "He didn't have to do fire at the 100 m
target, that's usually only for the M40."
"Yeah, but it's quite interesting how he uses his magic to help
with his accuracy. Also, his magic is channeled through his
hooves, not his horn."
"You're right. What's with that?"
"If I remember correctly, his time under the Phantom Initiative
allowed him to channel magic through his hooves as opposed to
his horn."
"That's incredible. Maybe if we could get that for our
soldiers-"
"I don't think so. The Phantom Initiative in itself was
completely immoral, and I don't think it will be a pleasant
experience for any pony if we do the same thing. At most I will
ask him how it works, but I will not put my soldiers in some
Equinox brand Phantom Initiative."
"Yes sir, my apologies." Szar says as Fox begins his work with
the M40. When Fox fires his final shot, Broadshield and Szar see
him black out for a second.
"Jesus, is he alright?"
"I'd say it's because of the magic in his shots."
"Better ask him." Broadshield says. "Fox, are you alright? Is
there anything wrong?" He says into the speaker.

"Oh, I'm alright Broadshield, thanks. I guess I'm still used to
using my magic willingly. But yea, I'm fine." Foxtrot replies as
he stretches. Speaking of his magic, he starts to recall what
spells he actually used back in the day. Regardless, that was
for another time. "So what's next?"

"Alright, if you ever need a break, just let me know. Your next
test will be assessing your unarmed combat skills. No guns or
anything like that, just your combat ability. You will be tasked
against either some training dummies, or you can choose to fight
some of our soldiers." As he says this, all the walls sink down
into the ground, with three ponies in full riot gear and batons
enter the field, bushing along three dummies, setting it up so
the three dummies and soldiers surround Foxtrot like a ring.
"Like I said, this test will assess your unarmed combat ability.
You can either practice moves on the dummies, or spar against
our three soldiers here, all of which are equipped with full
riot gear and a police baton. Who will you fight!" He asks.

Foxtrot looks around as the dummies and soldiers are positioned.
Turning to Broadshield as he asks his question, the unicorn
simply shrugs. "Well I might as well fight them all since
everyone's here. Have at thee, gents!" Standing on his back
hoofs, he keeps his head on a swivel for the first attacker. The
guard to his left decides to go first and charges ahead,
followed by the one behind the unicorn. Foxtrot dodges the first
guard and uses his momentum to haul him into the second one. As
they collide, he strikes the back of his front leg carrying the
baton and relieves it from him. Now armed with the non lethal
weapon, Foxtrot spins around and charges the third guard who
gets his defense up. Expecting a head on attack, the guard is
taken by surprise when the unicorn bounds overhead and lands
behind a training dummy. Pulling his hind leg back, he kicks the
dummy at full force and sends it crashing into the third riot
guard. As a second baton releases from his grip, it glows in a
magical aura and flies to Foxtrot's free hoof. Giving both
batons a twirl in his hoofs, he motions the three recovering
guards to continue. Deciding to just overwhelm him, the soldiers
all advance at the same time. Once within range, Fox slams his
batons on any guard that strikes towards him. The melee is
hectic, the unicorn parries, bobs and weaves amongst his
opponents. Swinging over the second guard, he repositions him
just enough to be struck by the third, knocking his team mate
out onto the floor. Too distracted by his mistake, number three
only sees the ends of two batons smash against the sides of his
head; his vision blurs and goes dark. With one left, Foxtrot
goes on the offensive and unleashes a flurry of blows onto the
guard, focusing on pressure points instead. The armor is too
effective, so improvisation is in order; the batons glow
brightly as he goes again, this time the attacks take hold, and
within seconds the last opponent is knocked out cold. Catching
his breath and covered in sweat, Foxtrot looks to the two
dummies still standing. Deciding to take the easy route, the
unicorn simply raises his hoof and blasts them both with is
magic.

Both Broadshield and Szar watch on from the observation deck as
Fox and the guards duke it out. "This kid has skills. He can go
toe to toe with some of our best. Impressive."
"What he lacks in marksmanship, he makes up for in physical
ability and unarmed combat. I remember you had doubts about him
a few minutes ago?"
"Yeah yeah, he's good. But he still has a lot to learn."
"That's fair. I see he has a lot of potential, and I think he's
going to go far at Equinox. Let's wrap this up." He says, making
his way down from the observation deck, getting to the bottom
right as Foxtrot blasts the two training dummies, coming to a
stop at his hooves. "Impressive Fox. Very impressive. I would
expect nothing less from a pony of your caliber and ability. We
are actually running a little bit short on time, so we will have
to recommence the more advanced parts of your assessment at
another time, but I am proud to welcome you (officially) into
Equinox. Welcome to Equinox, 1st Lieutenant Foxtrot of the Intel
Unit." He says, while other soldiers around give a polite
applause before going back to doing their own thing, cleaning up
the area, getting it ready for later, picking up broken dummies
and guards. "Alright Fox, I believe you had some business you
wanted to take care of in Canterlot?" He says.

"I'll take the wheel this time, Broadshield." Foxtrot answers as

of Canterlot. Half an hour passes before they reach The
Herbiary. "Here we are, and it's still open. I was expecting
everyone to be out to lunch at this point." Getting out, he
shows some excitement in his expression. Niv must be worried
sick, and to be honest, he was a little too.
