Re: Weaver
By: Mana Burn Date: January 7, 2018, 9:58 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
"Well that's just swell," Thunder said, glancing back at the
wall and assuming it had it coming. Looking between the two once
more Thunder put on a smile and cleared his throat to regain
some attention of the lingering pair. "This a friend of yours,
Fox? That's a neat coincidence. You here for the festival too or
do you live around these parts? Now, I know I didn't hear any
mention from our mutual friend about meeting up with company
fresh off the train," Thunder glanced at Fox, still smiling but
now with a confused scrunching of his brow, "so it's neat to get
a chance to meet some new people. Name's Thunder, by the way,
and you are...?"
---
"Ugh, We know your pain, trust us," Alacrity said at Glory's
response, finishing up her work and freeing up her hooves to
brush a bit of her mane - and some sweat - away from her eyes,
"paperwork murders sleep hours. With all the orders that go in
for the stuff we can't gather up ourselves, I've lost many a
nights rest dealing with inventory and junk myself. You, my
dear, have my sympathies."
"Yeah, I've had to put in some long hours before too," Mana
added, "Coffee is usually enough for me to get through it but
caffeine is a poor substitute for natural rest.
"Sure hope not," he then goes on to address Glory's question,
his magic gathering up his things and clearing the counter,
"This is supposed to be a vacation for me, so I'd hope things
went as smoothly as they could. Her'es hoping everything turns
out fine. And that it rains." Mana would have toasted this with
some water if he hadn't left his supply in his bigger bags
Thunder hopefully hadn't set on fire somehow. Mana gave the shop
another look and hummed. "I've only seen the two of you behind
the desk so far, "He spoke to Alacrity again while tilting his
head in Spirit's direction, "Is Aether around? I'd have liked to
ask him a few questions if he'd be so kind as to indulge me."
"he doesn't do autographs," Alacrity began only to sigh and
correct herself, "Okay, he does, but no he isn't here right now.
Our little cousin had to run off to Canterlot on a business trip
a couple of days ago. We don't expect him back for the rest of
the week at least, sorry."
Mana gave a short groan in disappointment but tried not to let
it phase him, "Is he getting published again by any chance?"
"Now now, that's some insider info there," Alacrity mock scolded
with a waggle of her hoof, "his trip is some top secret stuff
this time around. I don't think he's going to be getting
published this time around but... oh, hold on," Alacrity ducked
behind her counter and pulled out a few sheets of paper then
cleared her throat.
"'Aether Alkahest, top alchemist this side of Equestria and
proud owner of The Green Lion...' ugh... 'Board and Beverage',
would like to make it known that his current dealings, while to
be kept under wraps for the time being to better secure current
opportunities, are on the precipice of launching this small yet
fine establishment's name to every household near you. While
normally we would be happy to share some select details with you
in the interest of mutual scientific and alchemical advancement,
we must ask that you instead keep an eye on your local
newspapers and national science journals for news regarding our
pursuits and their progress. For now, please enjoy these
complimentary mints'," Alacrity dropped a single red striped
mint on the counter with absolutely no flourish and disposed of
two of the sheets of paper, the writing on each very large and
taking up way more space than was necessary, "'and don't be
afraid to proudly mention to all your friends that you had the
pleasure of personally visiting the epicenter of what could be
Equestria's bright future.'"
Alacrity then crumpled up all the papers and tossed them over
her shoulder.
"We ate the rest of the mints," she warned with dead eyes,
"that's all we got left. I'm sorry you had to hear that. Never
make bets with family."
"Wow, uh..." Mana hesitantly eyed the mint and motioned for
Glory to take it if she so chose, "He sure does sound... Proud
of himself. Prouder than the signatures suggested at least."
"Eh, he's not normally that bad," Alacrity was reluctant to
admit, "I kind of think he didn't believe I'd have the guts to
actually read that thing out to anyone other than a friend of
the family. You're both my witnesses if he shows up and claims I
didn't do it!"
Then the stallion who had been left roommate-less earlier
decided using his hooves was for squares as he descended the
stairs with everything but. Mana winced, Spirit gave a short cry
of concern, Alacrity shook her head.
"Sorry!" Spirit called from her counter as he passed by towards
the shop, "We sand papered the step's wooden bits and checked
the carpet like we said we would! We can carry you down next
time if you'd like!" She meant well, her voice was riddled with
concern both for his safety and the reputation of the shop as
letting slip that their stairs did the same was risky for
business.
Alacrity was less concerned as she only sniffed loudly when he
reached her end, testing the air for any clues as to how this
could be continuously happening.
"Concoctions we can do," she replied, pointing towards a knee
high shelf to the right of her desk stocked with bottles of
different colored liquids, "But what I think you really need are
some new shoes before you take on our stairs again."
"That looked like a pretty rough spill," Mana commented, giving
the stallion a visual once over for any injuries that could be
called serious, "You alright there, guy?"

Nivalia begins to unpack, looking over to her companion from
time to time. "A few reasons actually. Travelling, being away
from the office is always a nice change of pace. Plus seeing the
sights of someplace mere is exhilarating. Finally, for business!
Weaver has a major export of cotton. Cotton which cam be used to
increase the quality and durability of my medical wraps. If I
can strike a deal with a reliable supplier, or products value
can increase three fold!" Once everything is done, she
approaches Tinder, bounces onto her bed, and gives her a light
hug. The sensation of standing in a walk in freezer would run
through the unicorn throughout the embrace. "Plus I spend time
with my best friend!"

Tinder sighs slightly as Niv says all her reasons, she was
hoping to think of a good excuse to not leave this room again.
"Yeah yeah.. I guess those are fairly good reasons to be here."
She chuckles lightly as she's hugged, finally being cooled to a
nice temperature for a brief moment, "Thank you. And spending
time with you would be much better if I didn't feel like death
when I left the hotel, and you know how my magic gets in the
heat." She rolls up into a sitting position and glances up at
her lightly sparking horn, "I'm not even hot here and it's
happening.."

Broadshield doesn't say anything for a moment, his head still
facing the ground, eyes filled with rage, although it can only
be seen by Foxtrot. Still angry, he says to the pony "Everything
is fine. Nothing you need to worry about." he says, anger and
rage dripping from his tone. Turning to the pony he says
"Commander Broadshield, Commander for the 141st Airbourne
Battalion. I've been asked to help on this 'mission' from a
request in this piece of mail." he says, handing the letter he
received to Thunder. He lies about the first part, he doesn't
need to know about EQUINOX. He walks inside the room, not giving
much care to what Thunder thinks or what the arrangements for
the meeting are. "Alright, so what exactly am I doing here?
Something about stuff happening, creatures appearing out of
nowhere or something like that?" he says, eager to get this
going, with or without anyone else supposed to be part of this
meeting.

"Hmm, you do bring up a good point." Nivalia taps her chin wth
her hoof as she thinks. "I have extra bottles of your meds, plus
three ones I've whipped up myself that can help. We can invest
in an umbrella for you, while I do have one more cool wrap like
the one you have now to chill you down." A smile appears on get
face as she bounces off the bed, "Plus this is all the more
reason to get as much ice cream as possible!"

---------------------------------------------------------
Thunder would have been quick to disagree but even he could tell
when some people would only be annoyed over someone prying.
Being given the letter Thunder gave it a very quick skim.
Blah blah Weaver blah blah assistance blah blah Crown blah blah
Saddle Arabia? blah blah inn blah blah blah Gleam blah blah.
Wonderful! Surprise assistance from the aging organizer at the
top it would seem. Or something? Thunder didn't really read too
closely but he did see Broadshield's name and how it was signed
by Gleam so that paired with Foxtrot's apparent lack of concern
over the stallions presence made Thunder assume things were
going as planned. Without asking Thunder took Broadshield's push
to get things started as his not caring if Thunder kept a hold
of this letter for now. Thunder was sure that Mana would want to
take a look to know what was going on once he got back from his
shopping spree so he for now just slipped it into his bag.
"Alright, well, this 'mission'," Thunder replied, stepping into
the room and pulling the door a little more shut to keep sound
from bouncing too far, "is as the letter said. I think. I didn't
read the whole thing. Creatures appearing sounds about right at
least so it's probably mostly what we were told. We need to
figure out if anything is going to go down around this here
little podunk but we have to try and be as quiet as we can since
the people on high are worried the perpetrators, if there are
any, will scatter if they catch wind. Only details I know is
that whatever has been going on to make trouble in those other
cities has something to do with magic, teleportation they think,
and there's supposedly no warning as to when it will happen or
what might show up only that its going to probably be mean and
happen in a densely populated area. We came with a friend who
might have paid a bit more attention to the magic-ey bits we got
told but hes busy buying soda or something.
"Unfortunately him, Fox and I are fresh off the train right now
so we don't have many leads to go on but I was thinking
spreading out for the time being and getting a feel for the
town, maybe ask around about anything particularly weird we
could check out around the festival. You know keep an eye out
for anyone setting up any evil altars or transporting giant
cages full of hydras into town, that kind of stuff. Honestly
though, I think they sent us to this town as a back up plan. I'm
pretty convinced that if anyone gets hit it'll be way off in
some other city so this is basically a free holiday for
everyone. I would gladly volunteer to make sure the food stalls
or any pools are safe, unless you have any ideas. I didn't see
you on the train so I'm guessing you've been here for longer
than us. See anything weird?"

By: Faded Glory Date: January 14, 2018, 1:51 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
"Coffee is a lifesaver." Glory agree, "Only thing that gets me
through some days..." She steps a little more aside, to leave
the counter open as Mana finishes up with his purchase. "This
was supposed to be a vacation for me too, but work has a way of
following me around... Not helped by this heat, makes me just
want to stay inside the whole time. Rain would be so nice." she
turns to Alacrity, not looking very hopeful of the prospect. "I
don't suppose you've heard if they're going to manage any around
here soon?" She keeps quiet as Mana asks after Alkahest, though
she makes a mental note to possibly track the alchemist down if
they manage to get back to Canterlot before his return. Wouldn't
it be nice if the tip turned out to be false and she could maybe
actually manage to relax for a day or two before going home...
Glory is pulled from her reverie when Alacrity suddenly ducks
down behind the counter and comes up with a pile of papers
before launching into a short speech, presumably written by
Alkahest himself. She can't help but roll her eyes a little at
how very self-assured the whole thing sounds, as though
revolutionizing the day to day life of Equestria were only a
matter of time. "At least he's... confident?" She squints at the
mint Alacrity drops on the counter, as though she doesn't quite
trust it. "So you were just supposed to give these out to ponies
at ran-" Her sentence is cut off when PLO takes his nosedive on
the stairs, the mare wincing as he manages to hit his head at
least once during his fall. He seems not too much worse for the
wear though, as he gets up and tries to regain his dignity, not
unlike a cat pretending it meant to do that when it falls off
something.

Tinder pouts as her cool friend let's go of her, unable to
understand how Niv has this much energy. "Yeah, I took a nice
few bottles with me too... Didn't want to be in a new place and
run out. I'll admit though, ice cream does sound good right now,
maybe it'll help me get my magic back." She smiles softly at Niv
before moving to stand, taking off her bag and adjusting the
cloth underneath. She's started using a light layer of fabric to
cover her wounds in case the bag slips, and since Niv has
already seen it she doesn't mind taking her bag off around her
anymore. She takes a quick look at the burns before covering it
once more, downing a few pills and tossing her bag back on.
"Should we find Fox?"

Foxtrot follows Broadshield into the room. He's silent. Telling
his commander his whereabouts, informing him that there could be
a possible turncoat within Equinox. Honestly, he can't blame him
for being upset. It's a good group to be in; it was his chance
to start over. To be a part of something that wasn't a facade
like The 26. And then there's that too. The Phantom Initiative,
a program that just couldn't be as simple as he thought it was.
But... despite everything that they've been through, this...
Omega... It could be something with amazing potential. It's kept
him alive for this long. Regardless, all of this can wait. Now,
there's business that needs tending to. The stallion follows
behind Broadshield, and remains silent.

Tungsten made himself comfortable in his room. Not particularly
interested in the festival he decides to take most of his armor
off, only keeping his chest-plate, and relax until Brash decides
it's time to go, which would likely be when their free stay
expires. He turns on a standing fan in the room and pops open
the window.
Brash having become too hot in the wagon and with her dislike of
front doors she skulks around the building until she spots the
open window and upon confirming Tungsten inside she leaps in and
takes refuge from the heat under the cooling fan. She laid there
with a focused expression as she rolled about to make sure the
fan cooled all of her.
Carri had taken to the skies, looking about the area in wonder.
However, with so many choices on where to go first she found
unable to make a decision. She instead glides about, keeping the
inn within a close enough proximity to hear when Brash needs
her.
