By: Equilibrium Date: July 17, 2018, 3:39 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Equilibrium was both too far from Mana, and too absorbed in her
scribbling to heed the first yell aimed at her. Among the
rampage it was just a random yell among the others to her. She
murmured to herself, as her pen flew across the pages faster and
faster. Seeing the beast fire a magical beam from it's eye, that
wreck havoc on anything it touched, made the red mare turn few
pages back, stopping on the spread that had an image of possibly
disintegrating Thunder on it, accompanied by multiple question
marks. She scribbled next to the drawing "Possible" and added a
       small check mark on it.
Making sure to detail the beam, Equilibrium was torn from her
trance, when a bubble of magic formed around her. She looked
around her, trying to spot it's caster, only to realize the beam
was coming right to where she was. All she had time to do was to
duck down, holding her book above her head as a shield.
Thankfully the beam only slightly scathed the protective bubble
around her, but did a great deal on the building itself.
Realizing relocation was in order, Equilibrium got up from her
ducking pose, and she got ready to jump. Before she did though,
she realized that some magic particles from the beam gathered on
the page of her book. She stared at it happen, before then
finally hearing Mana's yells. She looked towards the direction
of the voice, gulped a little, before then popping the broken
magical bubble entirely. She muttered something, slamming her
book shut, and hopped down from the roof, her magic softening
her landing, as she disappeared from Mana's sight, behind the
       ruined building.
Equilibrium wasn't going anywhere though. Instead she stopped at
the first still intact street between buildings, taking cover
there as she observed what the beast would do next

By: Faded Glory Date: July 19, 2018, 7:38 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
"Can't be any less effective than what I'm already doing." Glory
grumbles, turning to make a dash for the inn as Mana goes to try
to shout some sense into the newcomer. She takes off at a
run,not noticing the buzzing noise suddenly starting to build up
behind her as she leaves the scene behind. She doesn't quite
make it all the way out of the area when the cyclops unleashes
it's eye beam, blasting a line of destruction across the entire
town. She dives behind some earlier debris but thankfully isn't
really in the way of the laser. For a moment she pauses,
watching it reduce buildings to rubble. Yeah. Definitely going
to have to stop it before it does that one again. She takes off
again at a sprint, pushing herself to full speed despite the
heat. Hopefully the Green Lion is still there when she gets
       there...
Thankfully it's still standing when Glory arrives, though
there's a large hole in one wall. She goes in through the front
door and is quite surprised to see Alacrity standing behind the
counter as though a giant monster wasn't destroying the town.
Glory slides to a halt, staring at the apparently unconcerned
Alacrity for a second or two. "Uh. Shouldn't you have
       evacuated?"
“What, over that?” Alacrity gestures towards the new hole in the
building and the chaos outside, “Big deal. Someone needs to man
the counter and keep any looters from getting ideas. We already
got robbed once this week, I’m not going to just take off and
       let it happen again.”
To the left of the counter a square section of the floor lifts
and reveals itself to be a low-profile trapdoor finished with
the same flooring pattern as the lobby and leading to another
level of the building. Hoisting the door was Spirit whom greeted
Glory with a wave and a smile.
“Hi, Glory!” Spirit said, “Did you forget some luggage? You’re
not the first. A lot of people just ran off when that thing
outside started stomping around. Hey, actually, you should go
grab it then come back down here! You can take cover with us!”
"Well actually-" Glory starts, only for Alacrity to jump in.
“There’s no cover to be taken, Spirit,” Alacrity interrupted,
“And why are you still here? I told you to go wait outside of
town for this to blow over.”
“Why leave town when we can stay here? We’ve already got
ourselves a bunker and everything. We’re safe here!”
       “That’s not a bunker, Spirit.”
“Yuhuh! Its underground! If its underground, then it’s safe!”
“That’s just the basement. We have this conversation every time
       something goes down.”
“Its not a basement, it’s a bunker! See? It has a hatch!” Spirit
allowed the door to close only to open it immediately after and
       smirk.
       “Not a hatch! Trap-“
       “Hatch!”
“-door!” Partway through Alacrity’s clarification, Spirit again
       dropped the door.
"...I don't think it would help with this even if it was a
bunker." Glory says, eyeing the space on the ground in case
Spirit popped up again. "Anyway. How strong is that sleep powder
stuff from last night? We might be able to use it to stop the
monster before it blows up the other half of the town."
“Strong enough that we can’t touch it without getting drowsy,”
Alacrity answers, “But I don’t know just how strong it is since
I don’t make it. That’s Aether’s job, he knows all that mumbo
jumbo. I stay far and away when he makes it.”
“It’s the strongest ever!” Spirit’s voice comes muffled from
beneath the door, “Even the worst insomnia couldn’t survive the
dust even if it was backed up with a pot of coffee and a scary
       book!”
“I don’t know if I’m too keen on the idea of throwing away
what’s left of it on some gamble,” Alacrity rolled her eyes at
her cousin’s claims and spoke again to Glory, “If it doesn’t
work we’re out of it and Aether will kill us. If it does work
we’re still out of it and Aether will still kill us only with
       less enthusiasm.
"If it's not stopped quickly the monster will kill us!" Glory
says, peering out through the hole in the wall, and sighs. "I
don't exactly have any other ideas. And I don't think he's going
to just get bored and wander off."
“Fine,” she grumbles, “Whatever. But if this doesn’t work then
I’m going to tell Aether that it was all your idea and that you
karate chopped your way in here to take it. I guess we can make
       more eventually…”
"Go ahead and tell him. I'll even pay for it if I have to."
Glory turns from the hole in the wall to head into the back,
Spirit popping back up to give her a little cheer and then
starting to argue with Alacrity again about coming out of the
basement and leaving the town. The back room is much as she
remembers it, cluttered with random alchemy things, with the
large table in the middle. And right there in the middle of it,
where it probably should have been last night, was the pink
powder. It had gotten a brand new jar since last night, and
while it was looking a bit low there would hopefully be enough
to put the cyclops down for the count. She grabs the jar and
turns to hurry somewhat guiltily out and back toward the action.

       Re: Weaver
By: Mana Burn Date: July 23, 2018, 9:21 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
With the mare now safely away from the building, Mana released
his magic over the building and allowed its supports to crack
and bend until they gave way and allowed for the structure to
collapse harmlessly to the ground. Well, as harmless as one can
consider an example of extreme property damage. With that done
he sighed, checked up on the trouble with the cyclops with a few
quick looks around and resumed his gallop he’d started earlier.
Thunder’s progress was slow, the pile of debris he was pinned
beneath being something he could only chip away at bit by bit.
Eventually some aid came in the form of Arum whom re-entered the
scene via a previously stuck door being bucked from its hinges.
The shop she’d taken cover in had done its job though the small
damage it had received had done a good job in wedging the door.
Regardless, she lent a hand in removing Thunder from his
entrapment then needed a second to look over the damage that had
       been dealt to her hometown.
“Jeez...” she said with a deep breath, “… I hate when this
       happens…”
“If I could just get it in a decent grapple,” Thunder started,
watching as the Cyclops pressed its palms together in front of
its eyes and began to rub them together, “I know I can get it in
       a headlock of some sort.”
Ignoring the harassment of the flying opposition around it, the
cyclops drew some energy from its eye to its hands, both glowing
a dull yellow and leaving a trail behind them as they were
pulled apart. They weren’t apart for long as it clapped them
together, a shockwave being sent from them that tumbled
Charybdis as the cyclops tried to shoo them away. If given
distance it would continue by launching bolts of magic from its
hands. While not nearly as dangerous as the eye beam, each bolt
still packed enough of a punch to blast apart the carts in the
street, though each did dissipate at moderate range when
compared to the beams incredible reach.
“Maybe a grapple isn’t the best idea.” Thunder decided to not
       try it.
Meanwhile, Mana was nearing the trapped civilians that the town
watch was attempting to help after the beam trapped them beneath
a building. While they were limiting their efforts to those
immediately reachable out of the desire to not leave themselves
in the open, few of them had any magical capabilities and were
not suited to quickly extracting the ponies. Mana dedicated his
efforts to remedying this by removing larger chunks of fallen
wood and ruptured stone while insisting those not immediately
useful to him leave for safety immediately. Unfortunately, with
his identity not being immediately evident, he was forced to
accept that half were refusing to leave now that they had a
better chance at saving more people.

It would take some time for Foxtrot to reach the trapped
civilians. By that point he sees Mana focusing on lifting the
larger chunks of debris. It's a start, but the number of ponies
either trapped or still sticking around posed a problem. They
had to get away. Far away. Out of town limits away. And fast,
instantaneous if possible. Ears perking up, the stallion tries
to find the highest roof near him. It would take a minute and
dodging the blasts of magic but he gets there. Looking out, he
sees a clearing in the nearby fields that the watch have been
gathering civilians. Spot marked. Immediately the stallion
slides down the roof. Back on the ground, he points a glowing
hoof to the nearest pedestrian. Poof! The only would suddenly
find themselves amongst the evacuating group outside of town.
Poof! The goes another, then two more, then five, then ten! He
prioritizes those stuck in rubble or ones who can't help others.
Bless them, they try, but no. The town watch and those who are
actually helping are left alone to their duty. Working as fast
as possible, streets would soon find themselves empty of those
in trouble. Unfortunately, Foxtrot is limited to short bursts.
Regardless, when his magic is cooling down, his good old hoofs
take charge. Debris is moved, ponies are pulled and lifted. Once
the magic refills, the teleporting starts all over again.

Nyx held on tight and managed to stay on during Nivalia's rapid
ascent, her magic still wrapped around the burning beam and
keeping it near them as they got higher. Nyx hesitated for only
a moment before she instructed Nivalia, "Get above its head,
slightly in front of it! We need as much force as we can to take
this thing's eye out, so we're going to use gravity. As soon as
we're in position and I get its attention enough to make it look
up, dive as quickly as you can towards the eye! I'll keep the
stake in front of us so you'll have time to veer out of the way,
but get as close as you can!"
As the two climbed higher, Nyx knew she had to get the
creature's attention somehow. She had to surprise it enough that
it would look towards the source of the distraction by reflex,
giving her a clear shot. Nyx did the first thing that came into
her head. Ignoring the piercing headache that had been growing
worse and worse with every bit of energy she shaped, Nyx did it
       once more.
Behind the cyclop's head, a simple energy balloon was formed. It
started to expand quickly, reaching the size of a pony, then
two, then five. Nyx was starting to get dizzy, but she pushed
through until the balloon's skin was stretched thinner and
thinner. Finally, the material could no longer take the strain,
and the balloon burst with a deafening POP! With any luck, the
cyclops would instinctively look upward to see what the noise
was, and then she and Nivalia would make their move. Nyx
struggled to hold on, starting to feel fainter by the second.

Nivalia's wings flutter and shift against the strong winds.
Their bright green hue shines brightly as she dishes and weaves
against the cyclops attacks. It wouldn't take long for her to
get into position. And now, the dive! With the distraction in
sight, she knew where to exactly fly to. This could be their
only chance! "You got this Onyx! Don't worry-" the unicorn would
feel the changeling's magic holding her tightly to her carapace.
       "You're not going anywhere!"

Ponies kept fleeing through the alleyway Equilibrium had chosen
as her hiding spot, running to what she could only assume being
somekind of an evacuation place. Most of the ponies on the
offense had also left the battle now, but few brave souls still
tried. Equilibrium saw the pony/changeling attack formation
close on the beast, the weird balloon only confusing the mare,
before it popped, making it's purpose clear. Equilibrium almost
stepped in to try and stop the assault attempt, to continue her
little research process, but appearing to be siding with a
hellspawn wasn't a good idea. Instead she observed how the two
       would do.

       Re: Weaver
By: Faded Glory Date: August 1, 2018, 11:56 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Glory hurries through the now deserted streets of Weaver,
keeping her eye on the cyclops whenever she can see it over the
building. It doesn't seem inclined to unleash any more
devastating laser beams, and thankfully seems to still be
occupied by the rest of the group. She cuts through the ruins of
a house and comes out in a side street nearby to find Day Lily
and Harvestman sheltering in the shadow of a nearby wall. She
makes her way over to them, making sure not to draw the
attention of the monster to her colleagues' hiding spot. Lily is
mostly unharmed, though she seems to have lost her crossbow at
some point. The pegasus is currently bandaging Harvesman's
injuries. "Glad to see you made it." Greets Harvestman through
gritted teeth. He's not looking good, his body covered in
bruises and cuts, and from the way he's holding one foreleg and
trying not to breath too deeply Glory guesses he has a broken
leg and ribs as well. "I went back to get the rest of that
sleeping powder from last night. I think if we can manage to get
him with it he might go down." She answers, peeking around the
side of the wall at the still rampaging monstrosity. "We just
have to find a way to get it up there to him." "Don't look at
me." Lily says, finishing up her bandaging and and starting to
pack up her medkit. "I'm not even supposed to be in a combat
situation. I don't have the training for this stuff." Glory nods
and steps back from the corner. "I thought I'd try to find
Thunder or Charybdis. Do either of you know where they might
be?" Harvestman shakes his head, and Lily just shrugs. "I was
too busy pulling him out of the rubble after that laser. I don't
know where anyone is." Glory nods and peers out from behind the
rubble again, scanning the ruins nearby. "Well you guys sit
tight. I'm going to go see if I can't find someone who can fly."
She heads out, keeping her eyes and ears open for any sign of
the others. It doesn't take her long to stumble upon Thunder and
Arum, and she approaches swiftly. "Glad to see you're doing
alright." She says to Thunder, eyeing Arum somewhat warily.
While Charybdis' information had been good, she's still not
ready to fully trust her group. Arum is likely to be focused on
saving her hometown though. "So... I have this crazy idea."
Glory pulls out the jar of sleep powder. "This stuff seemed
pretty potent. I figure we might just be able to knock this guy
out, or at least slow him down if we can get it onto him. It'll
be dangerous, but if he's distracted enough it might give an
opening to dump it on him."

       Re: Weaver
By: Mana Burn Date: August 2, 2018, 1:04 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Charybdis was half flying and half running as she took to
sticking close to the cyclops to avoid the blasts bolting past
her and keep from being knocked around by more magic. She would
narrowly dodge his flailing limbs, hook a claw into his fur or
exposed flesh and use the grip to redirect her movement in
smooth arcs and flips where she’d land on or slip past its arms
and head, delivering disappointingly ineffective attacks with
her sword as she continued to search for a weak spot to exploit.
She hoped that her claws digging into it and sword slashing
across its body was at least bothering it. It did not seem to
be, and the lack of damage being done dawned a realization on
       the cyclops.
The cyclops was now reveling in its seemingly indestructible
nature as it tore apart its surroundings with delivered
explosion after earthquake inducing stomp. Realizing that the
fliers around it were doing little to seriously harm it, it was
slowly but surely beginning to relegate the distractions to a
lower position on its list of priorities. This of course meant
that what remained of the town and its inhabitants still
attempting to flee were ticking higher up and drawing more of
its attention with its attacks going from trying to eliminate
those harassing it to destroying those that could not defend
themselves. As it was turning its mountainous body, it began to
gather the magic infused into its hands into a larger ball of
destruction and fixed its savage gaze on the collapsed
structures pinning the remaining civilians that Mana and Foxtrot
were trying to rescue. Grinning a wide splay of jagged teeth
ranging from sharp to jutting and cracked, it readied to rain
down whatever hell it was dreaming up. He only paused when a
loud pop pricked its hearing enough to pull one of its ears and
draw a look upwards to investigate.
“Oh-wha-we should have just kept it then!” Arum blurted out,
more in frustration at the crisis than in any anger towards
Glory as she flicked her attention between the mare and the
       creature destroying her home.
“Good idea!” Thunder said, congratulating Glory and reaching for
the jar, “We can probably just throw it in its mouth or
something! Its big enough for it.”
‘Woah, hold on,” Arum smacked Thunder’s hoof away and put
herself between him and the dust, “you’re not taking it! If
anyone is going to take it it should be me!”
       “What? Why? What’s it matter?”
“I literally just pulled you out from under a pile of junk,”
Arum reminded, “for all I know you broke something and won’t
realize it till you’re in the air. If this can work, then I
don’t want you dropping it in midflight.”
“Okay, you need to realize,” Thunder tried to step around her,
“that this is ME we’re talking about here.”
“I don’t know what that’s supposed to mean,” Arum cut him off
again, glaring over the meaningless statement he’d just made.
“What that means i- AGH! SECOND CYCLOPS!!” Thunder stabbed his
hoof over Arum’s shoulder, a look of horror flashing over his
face for just long enough for her to gasp and spin around. With
her distracted, he slipped around and plucked the jar from
Glory’s grasp, absconding with it during the brief panic that
       Arum was under.
Realizing it was all a ruse, Arum bared her teeth and turned on
the spot where Thunder had been. Seeing only a small puff of
dust in his place, she bolted into the air to catch up to be
available to catch the jar in case he could not carry it to the
       goal.

Foxtrot had just moved several boards over when he noticed the
cyclops readying its attacks. His magic drastically ramping up
to shield the area from the barrage. Fortunately, the creature
was distracted; it's attack, stalled. Magic still in full force,
he focuses on the largest debris still holding everyone up.
Slowly it lifts up and vanishes with a pop! He only has a few
moments. His head aches. It gets worse with each second. A weak
spot. Got to find a weak spot! Sprinting at full speed, the
stallion manages to run around the giant. Stopping, he looks for
a spot. The achilles tendon! Pointing his hoof, all the rubble
rockets from oblivion and hurtles towards that focused spot.
Once the last bit is thrown, Foxtrot tries to find cover. Tries.
The ringing in his ears, the blurred vision. The trickle of
blood down his nose signal that just staying conscious will be a
challenge. After a step, a wobble and hobble, the stallion
finally manages behind a half torn wall. His eyes close, for
       just a moment.
