Glory was just about to shoot when the portal opened in quite a
spectacular fashion, the distraction throwing off her aim and
making her shot go wide. The flash of light doesn't help
matters, momentarily blinding her as the unicorns retreat. She
rubs at her eyes with a hoof and stows the second pistol, her
vision coming back in time to see the unicorns disappear from
view and be replaced by the enormous claws tearing the portal
wider. She beats a hasty retreat along with the others, getting
outside just before the building gave way and the monster fully
       emerged.
Her normal bullets would obviously be of little help here, so
Glory digs into the pouches on her belt and comes up with a pair
of beads. One is another of the shield charms that had broken in
the town hall, which she slots into her brooch. The other is
fiery orange, which she drops into the barrel of one of her
spent pistols. She pauses as Harvestman arrives and hands him
her other empty pistol, and he moves off to help distract the
monster, loading the borrowed pistol in a similar fashion to
Glory. She winces as Mana gets smashed but fires on the cyclops
rather than rush over to help, not bothering much to aim as it's
such a large target. The bead flies from the pistol and hits the
cyclops in the side, exploding in a fiery burst, followed by
another from Harvestman. Day Lily arrives with the B team, armed
with a crossbow and flying outside it's reach.

By: Mana Burn Date: July 3, 2018, 10:48 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Charybdis was becoming frustrated with her lack of results.
Similarly, the cyclops was growing angry at how Charybdis had
continued to avoid his grasp, his attempts to grab her becoming
wilder and resulting in damage to the structures around him as
the seconds ticked by. Its patience wearing thin, it let loose a
thunderous bellow just as Charybdis was passing near its face,
the decibels achieved enough to cause those in the distance
trying to put distance between themselves and the danger were
forced to cover their ears. For poor Charybdis the force behind
the shout was enough to throw off her flight and send her into a
tumble, the volume dazing her enough to be open to the cyclops
next swing that clipped her wing and sent her to the ground. She
recovered enough to land and went about shaking her head to try
and ward off the ringing in her ears and only just managed to
notice the cyclops attempt to crush her beneath one of his
cloven hooves. Throwing herself out of the way, she rolled just
outside of its area of effect though the angle was such that the
cyclops did not see her survival and laughed at its perceived
       success.
It laughed up until it turned and caught a look of the
trebuchet’s payload with it having sailed relatively clear of
the surrounding buildings and striking its target across the
left side of its chest then sending him into a turning stumble.
Clutching at fresh buildings he had been pushed towards to
steady himself, the clutched at a freshly developing bruise then
righted himself with purpose and scanned for the source, the
combination of its height and the trebuchet’s many colors
allowing him to spot it relatively quickly amongst the standing
structures. Pivoting right, it gripped the upper half of a
three-story building and tore it in half then hurled it in the
trebuchet’s direction. It’s one eye did not allow for pin point
accuracy but the method by which it was seeking to destroy the
threat was destructive enough to batter against and roll over
the rooves of the town protecting it, generating a significant
amount of chaos and flooding the street with a torrent of rubble
and debris as the cyclop’s own payload barreled down in Onyx’s
general direction and toppled a few homes.
Not seeing a sign of the earlier flying problem, the cyclops
turned to pick out the crowd of festival goers trying to flee.
Its massive eye fixed on the nearest concentration and began to
glow a bright yellow just as the shots from Glory and Harvestman
struck its sides and earned a reflexive raise of its hand to
shield against the incoming shots. It didn’t appear too terribly
bothered by the fire or the explosive method of delivery, but it
very clearly was not pleased with being interrupted yet again.
Harvestman had been the second to fire and as such was the one
to suffer the consequences. The cyclops again struck the earth
but did so at an angle intended to tear up the ground. Chunks of
cobblestone street along with a rain of rocks, pebbles and a few
cart sized boulders of dirt and stone chased after the pony with
enough force to crush the wooden walls of the town around them.
The cyclops was not happy about the introduction of another
flyer to harass him and returned to the grabbing and swinging it
had been trying with Charybdis to attempt to rid itself of Day
Lily whom was just outside of its grasp. This was made only more
frustrating when Thunder arrived and planted himself on the
       cyclops’ shoulder.
“Howdy!” He greeted the creature destroying the town, earning
little more then an opportunity to avoid an incoming palm
delivered as if the cyclops was trying to kill a mosquito.
Thunder was quick enough to avoid it and was hovering a short
distance away when he pointed his hoof at the creature with a
       sudden laugh.
“Hey, Mana! It… Mana?” Thunder looked around and failed to find
his friend but was not allowed time for a serious search. The
Cyclops’ eye had begun to glow again and started to emit a cone
of sickly yellow light which it aimed for both Day Lily and
Thunder. Thunder wouldn’t be paying attention enough to avoid it
and would soon suffer the effects as the ray of energy being
emitted struck him quickly with a dizzying sensation that made
keeping his balance in the air difficult. Struggling to achieve
a controlled crash, Thunder found himself reintroduced to the
ground where he stumbled and fell to his belly as though he’d
just spun in way too many circles.
Back at the crater, Foxtrot’s search would last for only a short
time as a blue hoof popped out of the now much looser ground and
worked to get a grip. With assistance a woozy Mana would be
retrieved from the ground where he’d need a few seconds to
       remember where exactly he was.
“… That hurt a lot…” he’d grumble, his bubble having saved his
life but not protected him from the entirety of the sheer blunt
force behind the strike he’d been given. Once free from the
crater and able to stand, Mana took in the surroundings and
observed the struggle against the cyclops.
“We don’t have enough people,” he commented to Foxtrot, watching
the building tossed by the cyclops soar over their heads and
erecting a few staticky buckler sized shields to knock away some
falling debris, “about 13 too short, I think.” Charybdis joined
them shortly after, still shaking her head to try and do
       something about the ringing.
“Of all the things it could have been,” she started to say, a
little too loudly for those around her as her volume control was
a little wonky, “it had to be something I’ve never seen!”
“We need to mitigate civilian losses,” Mana started, “Right now
       the town i-“
“We need a plan!” Charybdis interrupted, turning on the others
and pointing in the Cyclops’ direction, “Its eye is probably a
weak spot, right?! Let’s just shoot it there!”
“Its eye is a focal point for-“
       “What!?”
       “I said: its ey-“
“That thing break your jaw, guardsman!? Speak up and enunciate!”
“BEING IN FRONT OF ITS EYE IS DANGEROUS!”
“Then I’ll go for its ankles and trip the bastard!”
Whether she was ignoring Mana’s protests or simply couldn’t hear
them, Charybdis flew off to join Day Lily and Thunder in
pestering the Cyclops, her reappearance earning an annoyed groan
       from the creature.
“Magic won’t contain it,” Mana warned Foxtrot when it became
obvious that Charybdis wasn’t coming back, “It’ll tear right
through any binds. I was hoping a solid barrier would at least
stagger it, but I guess not. That trebuchet worked well, but
it’s going to take a lot of shots to knock it out.
“I’ll help the civilians evacuate the immediate area and try to
think of something,” Mana, back in control of his faculties,
turned to gallop off, “just try to keep everyone alive!”

Nyx heard someone call her name and turned, her eyes widening as
she saw the changeling. Nivalia's introduction was uneeded,
however. Nyx recognized the vibrant, exotic magic in a moment.
"Oh..." she said softly. "Now that makes sense." She blinked
slowly, starting to become a little out-of-it due to her
fatigue. The hoof was offered, and a look of deep relief crossed
Nyx's face. "Thank you so much... don't worry, I'll only take a
little, less than five perce-" She ended her sentence abruptly
as she took the hoof and the energy hit her. It was a bit like
bending over to take a drink from a water fountain and being
blasted in the face with a hose. It took her a few moments to
get over the shock, but she got it under control and let go of
Nivalia's hoof. She blinked several times, her ears twitching
with the new energy. "Wow. Uh... I'm not actually sure how much
I took, most donations are different in both technique and
source, and I don't have the experience to-"
That was when the wave of rubble caught her eye as it tumbled
towards her and Nivalia. "GAH!" Nyx cried out in alarm, and
instantly created a solid energy wall between the two equines
and the nearing threat. Not quite taking into the account of the
energy she just received, the wall not only protected them, but
when the rubble hit it, it rebounded against it and headed back
towards the cyclops, albeit with less force. "...woah." Was all
Nyx said, before she dropped the wall and turned to Nivalia.
"Alright, let's do this!" She started crafting energy
projectiles rapidly, their color an acid green. She lined a few
up neatly by Nivalia, then focused on the trebuchet. "Load!" She
called out, full of energy once again and preparing to deliver
another payload to the enormous threat.

Now knowing that Mana is certainly not dead, Foxtrot looks
around to analyze the situation. Residents are evacuating, but
the creature itself moves too fast for comfort. How to slow it
       down?
Nivalia eagerly loads the first projectile into the war machine.
"Loaded! Aiming!" The changeling's horn glows as the trebucet is
realigned with the cyclops center mass. She looks over to Onyx,
       "Fire!"
Several streets down, Fox finished up assisting tourists trapped
underneath a broken cart. With them clear to leave, the stallion
pounces onto the roof. With each piece of stone, steel, or
rubble of substantial size he passed flew towards the creatures
knee. Stopping it will be a challenge, slowing it down wouldn't
       be a bad start.

Harvestman, being not inexperienced when it comes to monster
attacks, had been expecting a counterattack from the cyclops.
He's already moving when it's fist comes down, avoiding the
largest of the boulders sent hurtling his way. He isn't able to
dodge all of the rocks though, and his shield charm breaks as
several large rocks pelt into him as he slips behind the wall of
       a nearby building.
Glory dodges around some falling debris from the nearby houses,
and loads and fires another shot, hoping at least to keep it's
attention on it's attackers. She doesn't wait around to see if
it took notice of her, instead ducking behind some fallen rocks
and heading toward where Mana has pulled himself out of the
ground. It was clear by now that even with Nyx's trebuchet they
weren't going to be able to take this thing down, and the longer
this went on the more likely it was for civilians to get hurt.
But what could they do to stop it...? "Mana," She calls,
arriving just as Charybdis takes off to bother the creature
again. "You know anything about how to stop one of these things?
Fighting isn't working." She watches for a moment as it swats
at the fliers buzzing around it's head. "I don't think anything
I have could even slow it down..." She frowns up at it, trying
to think of anything they could do. "You think that powder from
last night could do it? Just a little bit knocked you out pretty
       good."

More ponies gathered to battle with the beast. "Stay still for a
darn minute..." The red mare needed a better view, and left her
small cover. Looking around at the destruction on her
surroundings, roofs were easily most dangerous places to be, for
all the flying debris thrown by the monster, and the huge
trebuchet shots. This had to be done though. This monster needed
to be documented. Lighting up her horn, the unicorn gave herself
a magic boost to jump onto the roof, now getting a clear view on
the beast, and just in time to see it's glowing eye... laser?
Ducking down a bit, to not be the most obvious target, she began
to draw a detailed image of the monster's eye, now that she
could see it. She tried to peek out for the pony hit by the
eyelaser, to see if they were disintegrated, or maybe at least
set on fire. She failed to spot Thunder among the chaos though.

By: Mana Burn Date: July 10, 2018, 10:58 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
The rebounded debris didn’t bother the cyclops, the chunks that
managed to bounce all the way back either missing or being
deflected by his sheer size and weight. A raising of its arm to
keep any small bits from reaching its eye was its only
noteworthy reaction with the real trouble being for those flying
about. For them it would be more of a nuisance as they’d be
forced to avoid the incoming rubble both as it returned and
bounced off the cyclops in random directions, Charybdis only
just managing to clue in on it in time to swoop and roll out of
its way as her hearing still wasn’t one hundred percent.
She was starting to bounce back from the shout earlier, but
there was still an annoying ring that made hearing some select
details difficult. Things like the shouting and cries of those
trying to escape the nearest buildings still harboring civilians
or the fact that the cyclops eye was making a weird buzzing
       noise. Small details like that.
Catching sight of Arum, the mare the group hadn’t seen since the
night before when she was shooting at them, Charybdis would
whistle again to get her attention once she’d finished
attempting to do the obvious and shoot the grumblingscyclops in
the eye with an arrow. It bent and twisted the nearer it got to
blinding the cyclops and ultimately was thrown off course by
some unclear means where it veered wide and lamely plummeted to
the increasingly ruined street below. Arum huffed and tossed her
hooves up in the air as she knew her shot had been good but was
pulled away from pouting upon hearing Charybdis’ whistle.
“Arum!” Charybdis shouted over the sound of the cyclops crushing
another formerly festive food stand beneath a hoof and ruining
what was left of its tasty stock, “Kaav uis uk es'k qeav! Dum's
ras es crorsa ukk os sra ceqereomk!” Whatever that meant Arum
seemed to know as she redirected her efforts into distracting
instead of directly attacking, arrows aimed at areas intended to
       annoy rather than kill.
As its knee was targeted the cyclops would shield it with one of
its hands as the focused fire, added to by others to trip up or
cripple the creature, was earning some pained winces. It
weathered the assault from the swarm of ponies trying to stop
it, all the while the buzzing growing louder.
“Stop it?” Mana replied to Glory, her shot adding to the assault
but remaining mostly ineffective, “Right now I’m trying to think
of how to minimize damage, not prevent it.” At her suggestion he
could only shrug, “Sure it knocked me out, but I’m a heck of a
lot smaller than that is. I never had a chance to study the dust
so I don’t even know what was in it or if it would have an
effect. If you’re going to try it, I’d suggest getting to the
inn while the inn still exists, otherw- HEY!” he shouted towards
the mare on the rooftops as he caught sight of her scribbling in
her book WAY too close to the action to be safe, “You there! Are
       you OUTSIDE of your mind!?”
Meanwhile, Thunder was shaking off the dizziness he’d been
gifted by the groups new friend, his stumbling back to his
hooves being done in as graceful a manner as to be expected from
a trained royal guardsman. Or so he’d tell anyone who asked for
his version of these events later, the fact that he’d toppled
over once and fallen on his butt twice was unimportant to the
grand tale after all. Regaining his focus on what’s going on he
was the one to notice and comment on the buzzing they’d all been
hearing grow louder from the cyclops still taking the abuse
being thrown at it. It was just as the next shot from the
trebuchet was launched that he’d try to warn everyone with a
       very short sentence.
“EVERYONE GET BEHIND SOMETHING!” He tried to shout it loud
enough for the rest to hear and hoped it was simple enough to
follow. Whether or not anyone did anything with his warning was
being left up to them as Thunder was soon not in view to argue
with them as he had zipped off to hide behind the most solid
wall he could still find. What he was warning them about soon
       became clear.
With a quick glance over its shoulder the Cyclops caught sight
of the next payload being delivered by the trebuchet. Magic had
started to coalesce and fall from its eyelid like molten metal
spilling from the ladle of a forge. Whipping around to face the
incoming projectile the magic overflowed and spilled free onto
the street below before exploding outwards and focusing into a
searing beam of energy that stretched beyond the town’s borders.
Aimed forward at first, it arced across the skyline and engulfed
the incoming projectile, obliterating it and taking on a slight
greenish hue for a second or two afterwards before continuing.
Reaching the end of the arc allowed by the range by which it
could turn its head, the beam would continue in a Z pattern
where it sharply cut diagonally downwards, the beam going from
blasting off into the distance where it hopefully dissipated
without spreading disaster to striking earth and cleaving the
tree line of the nearest woods in two. Some trees ignited in
flames where they’d threaten to spread and add to the heat of
the day’s weather while the railroad leading into town took a
devastating hit when the beam cut across the tracks, the earth
erupting wherever the beam trailed and adding to the damage that
was left behind. Still moving, the beam reached the town,
cutting close to a large number of civilians attempting to flee
and causing a series of explosions that collapsed multiple
buildings in front of and around them, trapping some in pockets
of debris while the rest were scattered, the small town watch’s
efforts to help them being strained even further as a result.
As the beam reached the second corner of its pattern it passed
too close to the building that Equilibrium had chosen as her
vantage point, the cyclops not targeting her directly as he
hadn’t even noticed her yet but still causing enough damage to
the building as its beam passed to cause it to start to give way
and collapse. Mana, trying to prevent harm, had erected a
barrier in an admittedly unreliable attempt to protect the mare
from harm but had been lucky enough to avoid having the beam
make contact with it directly, the barrier holding in deflecting
the kicked-up debris then being redirected to try and help
support the building and keep it from falling. By some miracle
no harm came to Mana himself as the danger passed over him,
plenty of things falling or whizzing by him but none managing to
strike as he stood his ground to maintain his focus on his
       magic.
With the beam near, the cyclops redirected it towards the group
that had been interrupting its rampage. It aimed it directly
towards the building Foxtrot had mounted, eliminating a huge
swath of the structure and causing it to fall in an instant
while the beam cut its way towards the cover Harvestman had
taken next. Afterwards the cyclops blasted the ground around in
a crescent arc that it half turned to spread to the area behind
him, the last few seconds of the now fading beam’s energy being
sent tearing up the street towards the trebuchet as the cyclops’
immediate surroundings were, needless to say, little more than
smoldering, burning or melted rubble at this point.
The cyclops’ beat its chest with its fists and loosed another
deafening roar as Charybdis released her grip on the fur between
its shoulder blades and put some distance between herself and
its sweaty stink. Having felt a number of her feathers burn
after getting too close to the beam, she’d hardly heard
Thunder’s warning and was nearly disintegrated by the opening of
the attack and was forced to take cover behind the creature to
wait out the ensuing damage. Charybdis could not see Arum and
was unsure as to the Pegasus’ status, but she did spot Thunder
stuck under a pile of bricks slowly digging himself out. His
wall didn’t hold so good when the ground surrounding it had been
blown up. He was fine, his grumbling being a sign of that, but
he was at the moment having some trouble releasing the bricks’
       hold on him.
Back over by Mana, the guard would shout in a mixture of concern
and anger towards the mare on the roof as he held his magic
       steady, “GET! DOWN! FROM! THERE!”

the buzzing, but she didn't really take note of it. She did hear
Thunder's shout however. Instinctively, she darted behind the
nearest thing, which happened to be the trebuchet. A frame of
energy-wood certainly wasn't the best protection, but Nyx didn't
have time to find somewhere else. And her hastily-made shield
that had made the debris rebound earlier did not seem like a
very good idea when the threat was fire.
Taking as much time as she dared to focus, she formed a
protective dome and, if Nivalia had not found cover by this
point, slammed it over the changeling. She had only started to
form her own dome when the trebuchet was hit. The force of the
beam sent it flying backward in a fiery mass, and Nyx let out an
alarmed shriek before it crashed down over her with the sound of
breaking wood. The last sound as the weapon fell was a
shattering noise, and bits of what had been Nyx's protective
dome around herself flew every which way. The shards landed on
the ground and vanished, leaving nothing but a smoldering wreck.
Nyx coughed and opened her eyes. Ever part of her hurt. The dome
had done its job to some extent- it had stopped the enormous
weight of the trebuchet, holding it away from Nyx until the last
couple of feet. Then it had shattered, but it had slowed the
wreckage's fall enough the Nyx was left with just bruises. She
could feel that she was pinned beneath a beam, entirely under
the heap, and the world around her was pitch black and smelled
of smoke, as what was left of the trebuchet started burning from
the outside in. "Don't panic," she coughed out, trying to keep
herself calm. Her levitation grasped at the beam she was under,
and Nyx pulled with all her might. She managed to get the beam
off of her, and formed a shield around her as the movement
caused the other wood around her to settle. This time her
protection held. "Okay..." she murmured, "One..." She closed her
eyes tightly. "Two..." The shield started glowing brightly.
"Three!" The shield expanded rapidly, blasting away the wreckage
and allowing Nyx to pull herself out.
She stumbled to a safe distance away from the blaze before
sitting down heavily, groaning in pain. She watched as her
colorful trebuchet burned, and sighed. At least it was still an
energy construct, which meant Nyx could simple make it cease to
exist- which would mean it could no longer fuel the fire. Nyx
was about to do just that, when her eyes widened. They had to
take out that thing's eye... Which meant the trebuchet might
still have some use after all. Digging into the energy Nivalia
had given her, Nyx compressed the construct into a single, long
piece of wood with a dangerously pointed end. The flames
crackled, and Nyx knew she had to move quickly, before the fire
devoured her weapon completely. She started levitating it
upwards, but then her magic faltered and the giant burning stake
fell a few feet, before her levitation caught it again. She
panted, trying to figure out what to do. She still had some
magical energy left from Nivalia's donation, and that helped
maintain her physical energy a bit, but her body had just about
had enough. It was downright painful to focus enough to shape
the energy. There was no way she could throw the stake far
enough. If only she had wings...
Wait! "Nivalia!" Nyx yelled, looking around frantically. Nyx was
aware of the fact that the stake was on fire, and probably too
heavy for Nivalia to fly with. But those were just
technicalities as she mentally refined her plan. "NIVALIA!" She
       called again.

When he saw the beam coming, Foxtrot knew he would be target. He
gets a running start, aiming for the store roof in front of him.
Unfortunately, once the beam hits, it removes whatever runway he
has to jump. Soon, he finds himself falling into the debris and
destruction. The thump of his landing is drowned out by the
chaos still outside. Groaning, the stallion sits up before
feeling a sharp pain in his front left leg. Looking down, he
finds a plank of wood stuck to him. Teeth gritting, he pulled
off the wood to reveal a couple of long nails embedded into him.
He'll live, but he bandages it up regardless and sets a mental
note to get his tetanus shot if he lives through all this. Back
out into the streets, he jogs through the rubble, heading
towards the large group of trapped civilians he saw earlier.

Niv couldn't react fast enough when the trebucet flew straight
towards them. Onyx's shield had deflected a sizable piece from
slamming into the changeling. But once it disappeared, a large
wooden plank was still barreling towards her. She blasts a beam
of magic into it. *Crack!* Right down the middle! The two pieces
twist and crash into the ground. Although one spins off to the
side, the other feels back and slaps Nivalia's torso. She falls
to her knees, wincing in pain. That's when she hears her. Onyx!
Niv's jade green eyes look over the weapon. Increasingly
standing back up, she runs over to the mare. Wasting no time,
she levitated Onyx onto her back. Wings out, they start to glow.
Small cyclones of air form under each. Dust picks up instantly
around them. "Hold on tight!" With the first downward flap, the
two launch into the air. They go straight up, finally slowing
down waist high to the creature before them. Another flutter
forward propels them forward. Unlike the other fliers attacking
the cyclops, Nivalia keeps her distance and steadily circles up
and around. They only have one shot of this. "Nyx! When you find
a good spot, direct me in. I can give you a straight shot!"
