Despite the stench, Foxtrot opens the board enough and jumps in.
The fall is quick, but near the ground his hooves glow once
more. The magic holds up his weight enough to make a soft
landing. "Oh boy it smells. The fact there's barely any openings
to air things out makes it worse. Alright, time to get this door
open." Trotting over, he reaches the door Mana was at and opens
it from the inside. "Welcome one and all."

By: Faded Glory Date: June 8, 2018, 1:08 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
After the meeting is adjourned, Glory and her group return to
their room for some last-minute preparation. Glory straps a belt
across her chest, and into it goes her four pistols, a bag of
ammo, and several small pouches. Up near the shoulder, she
affixes a brooch with a single yellow glass bead in it, faintly
etched onto which is a symbol of a shield. Over the belt she
dons a light jacket, to conceal her armaments from random
passersby, while hopefully not getting heatstroke as well.
Lastly she puts in her sense-enhancing earring and checks that
the others are ready to go. They head on outside to meet the
group, and as they split off into groups Day Lily wings off into
the sky. Harvestman sticks with the group as they head into
town, only moving out to patrol the festival itself when they
       near the town hall.
Glory looks the building over as they approach. It certainly
doesn't look like much at the moment, with it's unfinished
roofing and various scaffolds. The doors, of course, are locked.
"Not much I can do with the locks either," She turns to looks at
the scaffolding, to judge if she'd be able to shimmy up to the
roof from there when Fox does more of his weird magic and just
jumps right up to the roof. Glory looks around to make sure
there's nopony else about to notice as Nyx goes up her magic
ladder, but thankfully it's all clear. "You guys got a way down
from up there?" She calls up as they disappear over the edge of
the roof, though she gets no answer other than a small crash,
which makes her wince. Nothing happens for a minute or so, and
then the door opens and Fox welcomes them inside. A wave of
paint-smell washes over them and Glory has to stop to adjust as
Mana walks inside with a "Thank you." for Fox. She actually
considers temporarily removing her earring for a moment before
finally following them in, trying to breathe as little through
       her nose as possible.
"Curious..." Mana is saying as Glory reluctantly shuts the door
on the fresher air outside. "“This paint looks like its been dry
for days. The cans aren’t open either and the pans and rollers
don’t look wet. Strange that it would still smell so strong in
here given that it’s been days since there’s been any work and
all that would be trapping it in since they stopped are some
boards and plywood. Most of the new stuff isn’t even painted
yet.” Mana continues, moving over to a finished wall and
indicating the thoroughly dry equipment. Glory takes a look
around, and it does indeed look like there hasn't been any
activity in at least a day or two. "What do you suppose is
through here?" She asks as she walks over to the sectioned off
area, it being the most obviously out of place part. "This stuff
wasn't built to last..." She trails off as she approaches,
catching a faint whiff of something through the overpowering
reek of paint. She pauses and pulls a face, then takes a deeper
sniff. Was that? "Get over here guys, I think I smell smoke."
Glory calls to the others and makes her way to the door. She
gives a glance Mana's way and eases it open just a crack. That
was definitely smoke, and something else she isn't familiar with
as well. And... "I think that griffin beat us here; sounds like
       a fight!"

       Re: Weaver
By: Mana Burn Date: June 8, 2018, 1:37 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Passing Glory and opening the door further, Mana saw no one on
the other side but did spot a set of stairs leading downwards.
Stepping through doorway, things suddenly shifted for Mana. The
odor of paint was gone, instead replaced with hot air and the
smell of smoke. The quiet that had been so ordinary in the main
area was now disturbed by shouts and what sounded like a small
explosion. From the stairs leading down to the lower level came
the sound of trouble and the floor now trembled slightly at
every spike in volume. Turning back to look at the others, those
who weren’t on Mana’s side would hear his voice muffled, while
those with him would hear his urging to hurry after him as he
       rushed to climb the stairs.
Part way down the stairs Mana’s descent would be interrupted by
a sudden flash of fire that crashed against the wall beside
them, Mana surprised by how well this had gone unnoticed up
until now as he peeked over the banister to get a glimpse of
       what he was walking into.
The basement was nearly as large as the main floor above and
Mana could see four figures, three unicorns and one griffon he
could only assume was the ‘Charybdis’ mentioned by Thunder
earlier in the day. As of that moment Charybdis was doing her
best to duck and dodge around a flurry of baseball sized
fireballs being sent in her direction by one of two ponies
focused on her. Most were being avoided, a few required that she
raise a sword to deflect or block them, and one managed to get a
hit, splashing across Charybdis and earning a hiss of pain. The
unicorn, a shade of green, smirked at his success as his
partner’s horn lit to form several spears of magic that were
hurled in Charybdis’ direction. Unfortunately for him - a purple
stallion - spears seemed to be something she was more familiar
with as she side stepped one, knocked the second away with her
own weapon then managed to catch the third and swiftly throw it
back at them. The purple unicorn was quick to disperse the spear
to prevent it from reaching himself or his ally, but the
distraction was enough for Charybdis to close the distance and
       pull them into closer combat.
Following the action up to where Charybdis engaged the pair led
Mana’s eyes to the thing he found most concerning. The third
unicorn, pink, wasn’t in the melee and was instead a safe
distance from the others with his focus squarely set on a blob
of contorting magic hovering several feet off the ground. It
didn’t take a genius to figure out what was happening there.
Going back to Charybdis, she was managing well in preventing the
two unicorns from pulling off anymore complicated spellcasting.
She was quick to change her focus and force them both to stay on
the defensive up until she was able to create enough of an
opening to deliver a close enough slash to the purple one and
draw a wound across his chest. Reeling, he could not prevent
Charybdis from slipping by and aiming next for the pink unicorn
conjuring the ball of magic. She swung in a falling arc but was
disappointed to find that all she cleaved was mist. The pink
unicorn had picked up on her attempt to end his efforts and
shifted himself away with the green unicorn who had been left
abandoned beside his now injured friend instantly taking up the
duty of stabilizing the magic ball. Now free to defend himself,
the pink unicorn formed back from the cloud of mist and with a
swish of his horn akin to writing fine calligraphy summoned a
glowing cluster of orbs to surround and close in on Charybdis at
       great speed.
Mana figured this a good enough time to get involved as any
       could be.
Hopping over the banister, he skipped the remaining stairs and
upon landing immediately worked his magic to create several half
bubble barriers to surround the people present, the pink pony
and Charybdis getting their own while the other two were close
enough to share. The orbs, upon contact with his barrier
exploded one by one, forcing Mana to wince at the strain against
the shield but otherwise doing little to harm Charybdis.
“Alright!” he started with his practiced guard voice being used
to full effect, the effort in maintain the three barriers at
once cementing him where he stood, “Everyone settle down and
drop whatever spell or weapon you’re holding! Roya--“ So, the
green one stayed where he was since he was busy with the magic
ball, but the purple one was apparently capable of teleporting
out of the bubble while the pink one projected a strong enough
concussive blast to shatter his bubble. Mana was annoyed by
this, but he was quick to get over it as he was forced to drop
the remaining bubbles anyway in order to instead craft a shield
in front of himself to block the incoming bolt of magic shot
       from the purple unicorn.
“Okay, well,” Mana grumbled, eyeing the unicorn through the
transparency of his shield, “guess that’s how this is going to
       go.”
“I’m so sick of this magic crap…” Charybdis added, rolling her
eyes at the guardsman but not exactly upset by the arrival of
       possible help.

The further down the stairs, the sound of combat becomes
stronger with each step. Foxtrot's hoof falls onto his machete's
handle. By the time they reach the corridor, the stallions back
hoofs dimly glow. It appears they get there just in time. Three
opponents, easy to outnumber. Now to pick a target. Foxtrot
locks on to the green unicorn and charges forward. The magic in
his hooves propel him twice as fast, rapidly closing the gap.
Once in range, he swings out his weapon. Although the sheath
itself can't kill, it certainly works as a makeshift baton.

Glory follows Mana through, the smoke smell getting stronger
along with the sounds of battle. She keeps close as they descend
the stairs, and she gets ready to draw a pistol as they come
into sight of the fight below. She watches as Charybdis faces
off against two of the unicorns, doing surprisingly well for
being outnumbered and against opponents with magic. It's clear
she doesn't have much chance to getting through to the third one
and disrupting the summoning though. She follows Mana over the
banister, easily handling the drop to the floor and pulling a
pistol as the shield's go up. She waits, eyeing the green
unicorn and waiting for the barriers to drop. Unfortunately, Fox
jump in just as the shield is released and she's forced to
change targets, instead taking a shot at the pink unicorn.

       Re: Weaver
By: Mana Burn Date: June 18, 2018, 8:49 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
The swing from Foxtrot reaches the pony he was aiming for, but
where it should have bashed it instead stuck as if hitting wet
clay. At the same time there was a noticeable shift in weight
and rush of air away from them. The pony – paler now and still -
didn’t react much to it and hardly turned its head before it’s
mane burst into flames and ingulfed the rest of its body in the
blink of an eye. The radius of the flames stretched several feet
away from the source and licked at the ceiling above, the hard
stone floor immune to it’s grasp but being heated over the five
or six seconds it took to burn the figure to ash. The lack of
distress from the source was became easier to explain when the
green unicorn was found elsewhere in the room resuming his
nurturing of the portal, the hastily constructed decoy having
acted as a sort of clone bomb and taking the hit for him as he
retreated with his pink ally having adopted the responsibility
for the few seconds it had taken him to cast his magic.
The shot from Glory would be frustratingly ineffective as the
pink unicorn again resumed a form of mist to avoid the harm. In
response his horn again wrote in the air and formed a runic
circle from which fired a focused beam of arcane energy that was
zeroed in and tracking the mare. Assuming the mare would want to
avoid the threat, the unicorn fired off a few small blasts of
energy from his horn to attempt to trip her up. They were weak
and would do little more than stun or trip with the hopes being
it would slow her down enough for the laser to catch up.
Mana was busy deflecting knives, throwing stars and javelins,
each of magical construction and hurled by the purple unicorn
who’d tried to shoot him. Mana was gaining ground, albeit
slowly, but couldn’t close the distance in time enough to
prevent his opponent from crafting a swirling set of armor
plates that orbited his body. Once in range, Mana’s shield
shrunk to the size of a buckler and the purple unicorn
constructed a mace to try and bludgeon him, Mana’s offense
consisting primarily of quick short-range lashes of magic that
were having a hard time of getting through the other pony’s
swirling armor and locking the two in an even exchange.
Charybdis did nothing to interrupt the focus of the pink unicorn
despite him being the closest to her. Instead she was attempting
to disrupt the magic ball and had scattered some small gems
across the floor beneath it around the time the green unicorn
had made his clone. She was no mage, obviously, but wands and
scrolls weren’t the only means by which the magically inept can
work around their disabilities. Sword held in her beak, some
quick work with her claws arranged the gems just right to
trigger them, their sudden glow being the warning she was
waiting for and prompting her to pull herself back with her
wings. Using one as a shield, she braced for the ensuing
explosion that rocketed directly upwards from beneath the ball,
engulfing it and funneling the force into the ceiling while
cracking the wooden supports holding it up. Only a fraction of
the force leaked outwards to the rest of the room and would be
felt like a firm shove, but Charybdis didn’t seem to mind as she
laughed and pulled her wing back to see the results.
“How’s that for an ultimatum, you hoggish prick!” she shouted as
the smoke cleared, “Get FFfff...” The ball of magic was fine.
The explosion had done nothing to stop it’s summoning and it was
in fact growing and starting to writhe and stretch in random
       directions.
“Hey, Guardsmen! How about you use your horns to turn this thing
off?” Charybdis called to the group, launching herself back in
the direction of the pink unicorn.
“It doesn’t work like that!” Mana replied just before he was
knocked enough off balance for the purple unicorn to nearly
clobber him over the head. A quick side-stepped duck narrowly
avoided the strike with Mana trying to counter with a bash of
his shield only for another plate of armor to throw itself in
       the way of the attack.

Foxtrot's eyes narrowed at the result of his attack, "Ah sh-"
Not even able to finish his sentence, he's thrown back at the
decoy's explosion. Omega surrounds themselves in a thin barrier.
It stops most of the blunt trauma, but the stallion is short of
breath with the air being knocked out of his lungs. Something is
burning though. Looking at his shoulder, he spots a small flame
erupting on his clothes. Hastily patting it out, he looks over
to see Charybdis's attempt to stop the orb of magic from
       growing. Unfortunately, it's not enough.
Foxtrot scoops up his machete and holsters it onto his jacket.
He still has to keep pressure on his attack, but this time
change things up. Hooves glowing, the stallion sprints towards
the wall. In a leap he bounds onto the surface and keeps going.
With his magic holding his steps to the wall he circles around
the room. One hoof is pointed out. Sporadically constant, he
barrages the green pony with shots to keep him occupied. However
it isn't until he finds himself above and behind the purple
stallion that he changes course. His back hoofs launch him into
the air as his two front ones join together. It's a risk. Right
now he's literally in the air defenseless. But right now, he's
got a perfect shot. A combined blast of magic fires towards the
shielded opponent whilst their attention is on his fellow guard.

       Re: Weaver
By: Onyx Lotus Date: June 20, 2018, 8:51 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Nyx was curiously absent from the fight, still standing at the
top of the stairs. She was watching the writhing ball of magic,
her mind going about a million miles a minute.
That ball was going to become a portal. That had to be stopped.
One couldn't reverse it or "turn it off", as Charybdis
suggested. It had to be destroyed. What could destroy a forming
portal? Portals were, more or less, wormholes. Wormholes
theoretically collapsed when exposed to high radiation.
Unfortunately, one could not simple form an energy construct of
radioactive waste. It didn't work like that. But there were
other thing that produced radiation naturally: granite, cat
litter, ponies themselves... The corner of Nyx's mouth twitched
as she imagined hurling a litterbox at the portal. No, she had
to focus. Sure, those things gave off radiation, but in very
small amounts. Nothing even close to a fraction of how much
radiation she would need. Anything powerful enough to help with
the portal would also be powerful enough to harm every creature
in the room, anyway. So what could she use to counteract the
portal? She had to make something...
Her eyes widened at her own idiocy. No, she didn't need to make
something- she needed to take it away. And what was a portal,
really, than a seething mass of magical energy?
A bit late to the proverbial party, Nyx rushed down the stairs.
Keeping a (hopefully) safe distance from the fight, Nyx widened
her stance and lowered her head. Her horn started to glow, but
not like it had when she had built the constructs. It didn't
emit an aura of light, but the opposite. The horn itself shined
brightly, and though there was really no proper way to describe
it, the area immediately around it looked oddly blurred, like it
       was moving inward.
Nyx directed her attention to the magical ball. Focusing on that
alone so it would not affect the ponies around her, Nyx
attempted to start pulling the energy from it and absorbing it
into herself. It was definitely a gamble, she had never tried to
absorb energy from such a volatile source... but she had to try.

Glory frowns as her shot passes harmlessly through the unicorn,
who just turns into mist again and reforms. That little ability
certainly complicates things, and he's definitely going to have
enough warning to do it again should she continue firing. Which
means she'll have to either get help or somehow close in and
hope his reactions aren't as good close up. She returns her
pistol to her belt and starts to dart forward when he calls up
the magic circle and she's forced to swerve to the side as a
beam of energy fires out. She puts on a burst of speed, hoping
to outpace it's tracking and doesn't have time to react to the
smaller blasts when they come. She keeps running as the brooch
on her belt lights up, a barrier springing into being just as
the shots hit her. They dissipate harmlessly, but as the last
one collides the bead gives a pop and shatters. Without being
slowed down, Glory is able to get around and put the green
unicorn between herself and the beam, which by this time has
gouged out a long trail in the wall. She pauses for only a
moment as she comes to a stop, then throws herself at the green
unicorn, hoping the laser will be enough of a distraction to
       prevent her attacking.

       Re: Weaver
By: Mana Burn Date: June 23, 2018, 12:00 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Green’s front hooves stomped down onto the stone floor beneath
them, chunks of it breaking away and floating up beside the pony
where he used them to intercept the incoming blasts from
Foxtrot. The attack on purple would have indeed been perfect had
it not been for the armor swirling about his body as each plate
seemed to be acting independently of the pony and not requiring
his full attention to do their job. At the threat of Foxtrot’s
actions they each hurried to Purple’s flank where they joined
into a spinning disk and took the brunt of the attack head on,
the pony still being free enough to continue to avoid Mana’s
efforts while his defenses absorbed the incoming magic. Once the
danger had passed the disk fragmented and split apart,
momentarily orbiting their master before clicking back together,
this time in front of Purple where they released a blast of
energy and caused Mana to skid backwards and away. Now with some
breathing room, Purple whipped around and pointed his mace in
Foxtrot’s direction with its head then launching towards him
like a small cannon ball while the rest of it faded away.
Fortunately for Foxtrot, Green did not move to harass him after
the barrage was over. Unfortunately for Glory, it was because
her attempted tackle had earned his attention. The beam from
Pink’s circle did nothing to Green as the former displayed an
understanding of trigger control. Once the beam had neared to
close to his ally the magical attack fizzled out and the circle
dissipated, Green however having been left to fend for himself
as Charybdis then forced Pink to address her. Taking a quick
step away from the damaged floor he’d ripped his protection from
earlier, Green pivoted to better see Glory as she hurled herself
towards him and his horn flashed with light, a moderate
immolation surrounding him in time for the mare to make contact
with his hopes being that the fire would drive her off. Should
things go as he wished he’d go further by causing the stone
beneath them to rumble and become loose and shifting with his
intent being to trip her up then bury her to the neck.
Pink was dealing with Charybdis whom was trying to now cut him
to pieces. Ducking and weaving around the slashes, he prepped a
quick pop of magic from his horn that would burn bright enough
to momentarily blind the griffin assaulting him. It would be for
only a split second, but it did allow him enough time to throw
down a rune before him which hissed and sizzled once it’s arcane
writings were complete. Charybdis recovered quickly but not
quick enough to interrupt the scribing of the rune and her
efforts to recover led to her accidentally stepping over the
runes edge. Activating the magic imbued into the symbols, she
found herself struggling to move as the air around her became
“sticky”, the drag she was working against with every motion
slowing her down as if she were fighting in molasses. Needless
to say, this made avoiding her attacks laughably easy.
It was here that the trio of mages noticed the siphoning of
power from the portal, all three of them simultaneously turning
to look at Onyx either via a glare or hasty glance and their
strategy changed in an instant. The pink unicorn retook his mist
form and drew nearer the portal while Purple teleported out of
his melee and reappeared near the stairs. His horn flared to
life and his armor plates broke into countless tiny shards
before rushing forward in a torrent that swirled and buzzed as
it started to the surface quickly build a magical box around
Onyx to act as either an obstacle for her efforts and break her
focus or a cell should she be incapable of escaping.
Back at the portal Pink reappeared and resumed his horns writing
in the air as he manifested three glowing orbs of magic that
appeared just above and on either side of the ball of magic. The
magic from the orbs then arced inwards and into the ball of
magic where it accelerated the process and removed the unicorns’
need to directly care for it as the duty had been flickering
between the three all the while. The sudden influx of power also
caused it to become more unstable with bends and licks of power
       lashing outwards in random directions.
Pink fell to his knees as his magic was heavily spent creating
the orbs, but the defensive cover for the portal would fall to
Green as he used the stone floor to grip his own hooves and pull
him closer to the now far more aggressive ball of magic. There
he let out a shout as he burned his magic and summoned a
downfall of basketball sized balls of molten fire bombarding the
ground around the ball of magic in a donut shaped radius to try
and keep the group at bay. Mana was occupied with trying his
best to shield himself and his allies from the falling fire and
the lashings of the ball and therefore was unable to advance
while Charybdis seemed to be doing her best to avoid the falling
danger since Pink's magical expenditure had sizzled his rune to
nothing and allowed her to escape.
