       Ballroom Blitz - Ballroom
By: Brio Dreamer Date: September 25, 2017, 2:33 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Well that was cool Brio guessed, seeing the princess and
watching some military guard talk thing for a guy she didn’t
know but guessed was important. That’s fine, good for him, she’d
get his autograph later maybe but now she only cared about the
mention of free food and how she got to check out the castle.
How often did a regular little pony like her get a chance to do
that? She wouldn’t let it go to waste, eyes first set for the
ballroom for funsies with a planned trip to graze in the dining
hall later. Taking to the air and bailing out of the throne
room, Brio quickly got lost in the halls in spite of whatever
signage or instructions that may have been in place to better
guide her to where she was trying to go. A quick exchange with a
guard after being accused of trying to sneak into restricted
areas later and Brio was finally on the right track, showing up
to the ballroom after others had moseyed in and gotten down to
their business doing their talking and dances and stage
       shenanigans and so and so.
Brio observed from above and was undecided on how she should do,
only now realizing that she’d entirely forgotten about the
semi-formal dress code that evidently was just a suggestion if
she’d been allowed in. The dresses and frou-frou hair wasn’t
remotely Brio’s style but she couldn’t help but feel like she
was standing out just a teensy bit what with her outfit just
being the one she’d been born in. She could do… somethin… Aha!
There on that table! A floral display that wouldn’t miss one of
its kind, yes? A quick flutter later and Brio landed beside the
table, pretending to be observing the goings on around her as
she waited for the mare nearest to her to become sufficiently
distracted. Once presented with an opportunity, Brio made her
move, raiding the flowers on the table and swiping one away so
quickly that the confused glance back given by the mare would
see only quivering flowers and a seemingly disinterested Brio
now sporting a nice little pink flower tucked up behind her ear
and decorating her mane. She had NO idea what flower this was
and could only hope she wasn’t somehow allergic to it since
she’d chosen it entirely based on how it looked pretty and had a
pleasantly sweet aroma. So far so good, though!
Dance time maybe? Dance time surely! Get on the dance floor,
Shirley! Brio had no partner but that wouldn’t stop her since
she was just screwing around right now anyway. Needed some way
to work up an appetite for the food later, right? She stepped
out onto the main floor where ponies could dance if they wanted
too and did a jig where she made it up as she went regardless of
if it matched whatever music or accompaniment may or may not
have been playing at the time. It was a dance floor, so she
danced, not in a way that interrupted others but instead a way
where she had fun pure and simple. And it was good.

       Re: Ballroom Blitz - Ballroom
By: Clair Date: September 25, 2017, 4:57 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Clair, pulled by Clarity, is wheeled in to the ballroom about
halfway through the bickery stand-up routine between the
newly-colonelized noctral and the heckler. Clarity stands by
listening to it, which means Clair does too. She laughs along
with the crowd, while Clair kinda...just doesn't. "Doesn't that
sound kinda...mean-spirited?" Done for laughs or not, it sounds
like a lot of what's being laughed at is an insult of one
variety or other, mostly calling the noctral un-funny.
"Oh, lighten up, Clair. It's all in good fun. I bet they
actually worked it out beforehoof, like sometimes when I ask for
'volunteers' on the stage." Clarity pulls him past to the dance
floor. "Okay, let go, we're up for dancing~" Clair lets go and
holds his front half up on his own while Clarity fixes up her
tail, pulling a brush out of somewhere on the dress, possibly
the late triassic layer of her skirt. She doesn't let it all
down, though, she's still gotta watch for the wheels on his cart
if they're going to be dancing. "So," she says, taking one of
his hooves after storing her brush away again. "May I have this
       dance?"
Her beauty is completely lost on him, but he wouldn't care one
way or the other for it. "Of course you may," he replies with a
smile as she pulls him forward.
Dancing is and isn't his thing. On the surface, it's a lot of
movement to nowhere, effort and energy expended just for the
sake of expending it. But add a partner into the mix and it's a
whole new experience. And his sister loves it.
Of course, even on the best of days she leads and does the
lion's share of the acting and motion, and his broken legs mean
she does even more so this time around. That's okay. She prefers
it that way. She improvises dance steps, holding hooves with him
and spinning him, sometimes swinging him out in slow arcs on his
swiveling cart. Sometimes she lays her side against his and just
pulls him along, always slowly. That's alright. He prefers it
       that way.
For his part, Clair mostly just lets Clarity do her thing while
he watches the brightest thing in the room. Which, for a while,
is Clarity. But then somepony else flies in and takes his focus
off of her. He watches the bright source hang in the air, then
drop down off to the side and...maybe grab something? Quickly?
"What'cha lookin' at?" Clarity asks, as Clair twists his head
around as he's spun. She lets go of his hoof to let him point
down the dance floor to where the star is dancing on her own.
Clarity follows the point and giggles. "Well she sure looks like
she's enjoying herself. How bright is she?" And...has she seen
       her before?
He'd gotten something of an established scale to talk about how
bright life appeared to him. Most plants are somewhere between 0
and 1, except in the Everfree where he'd found the whole place
to have a brightness of around 6. That's more than most of the
animals he's seen, which mostly shine around a 4 or so. The
average pony is somewhere around a 30 or so. He doesn't know his
own brightness, and his sister's is a highly-respectable 44. The
       life he's watching, though?
"It gets kind of hard to get specific numbers when they're that
bright, but..." She. It's a mare, Clarity said she. "She's an
       87."
That's when it clicks in her head. That's right, that was the
pegasus who'd brought Clair in to the hospital! She didn't see
her in pony, of course, but her picture had been in the
newspaper and Clair had mentioned something about how incredibly
bright she was. Just to make sure...she watches for a bit until
her freeform dancing brings her into a pose similar to the
particularly-heroic one that had been captured in the photo.
Yup, it's the same mare. "Well, I think it would be just grand
to go and say hello to this mare! What do you say?" She doesn't
wait for Clair's answer, she just grabs hold of both of his
hooves in one of hers and pulls him, rolling him around through
the crowd to Brio, who, without preamble, she grabs and plants a
kiss on each of her cheeks, giving a happy "Thank you!" with
       each one.

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Brio had started to kind of ignore the festivities around her as
she danced and unintentionally caused those nearest her to give
her a bit of extra room so as to avoid being accidentally
tangled in a wild tango. She'd managed to get a hold of one
stallion already and left him dizzy and out of breath as he'd
failed to catch up to what was happening and keep up with her
movements so scrambling away had been in his best interest. Brio
didn't chase, at least not for long, and had gone back to her
solo work when she'd been suddenly pulled away and given two out
       of nowhere kisses.
"Uh... You're welcome!" she replied after blinking in confusion
and continuing with a giggle, "I am glad to have been your
kissing post! You're pretty forward, aren't you? I like it!"
Were they serving cider with the free food? Brio had to get to
that Dining Hall soon before they ran out if this kind of stuff
was already happening, who knows what nonsense was going on in
there right now. The mare didn't smell like alcohol though, nor
did she look familiar... Brio wasn't necessarily complaining,
the mare was gorgeous, its just she was just a little bit lost.
Peeking over the mare's shoulder and spotting the pony she'd
dragged along cleared things up a little bit.
"Oh, hey! It's our boy!" Brio gave a small wave that she forgot
he couldn't see and her smile widened, "How you doin, little
crouton? Is this your, eh... Sister, was it? I heard he had a
sister from all the talk that crowd was shouting when we got to
town. Is that you? Funny bumping into you like this, but I'm
glad I did, was hoping to hear about how things went after we
dropped you off at the hospital."

Clair didn't manage to make the connection until he hears the
mare speak, but when she does he gives a smile as well. Not as
wide as hers, but hey, who really can match that? "Oh, it's you.
You're one of the ones that-"
"-that saved you from that bird and that spider!" Clarity
finishes for him, pulling him up alongside her and taking him in
a side hug. "Yup, the little salad stuffing you rescued from the
forest is my little twin brother Clair, who I'm sure is pleased
as punch to meet you again. Pleaseder than punch, I bet! I know
I am! Clair, introduce me to your bright friend!" She pushes
Clair forward a little to make the introductions and waits
       expectantly.
"Right. Well, this is my sister Clarity, and..." He pauses,
thinking back. No, he never did. "...and I don't know her name,
Clarity," he finishes, directing that last bit back to his
       sister.
"You don't? You didn't get it from her when you thanked her?"
       "I didn't thank her eith-"
"You didn't!?" Clarity gasps and pushes his cart forward until
he's right up with Brio. "Well, you should fix that! Go ahead!"
"Well, okay." Clair blinks at the brightness in front of him and
smiles. "Thanks for saving me." Clarity clears her throat and
taps her hoof impatiently, but Clair is at a loss.

Eeeeeh, weeeell, they never did see the spider but Brio did
murder the heck out of a section of web during that little
adventure so she supposed a spider would have eventually shown
up if given the time. Brio wasn't about to correct Clarity
though since she was trying not to get lost in feeling like a
hero again like she had upon reaching town that day. The talk
caused Brio to realize that she'd never given her name to their
boy what with all the excitement at the time and hadn't even
managed to get Clair's even. That would have made it a bit
tricky to find him in Ponyville if she ever did get around to
checking up on him, so doubly fortunate that they happened to
all be here. Or did she get his name? Clair and Clarity were
pretty similar so maybe she was just thinking of Clarity's name?
Or maybe she'd heard Clarity and not gotten Clair? Brio is
broken from this thinking junk and her head briefly pulls back
when Clarity pushes her brother up but she giggles it off and
takes the opportunity to clear up some of the mystery.
"Well, my name's Brio," She introduced herself with a beaming
grin, flipping her mane as if someone somewhere would take a
picture at the opportunity or, perhaps, a title card would slide
into view accompanied by some form of theme song, "And you are
ever so welcome! It was a real adventure getting out of there,
huh?" her eyes shifted to Clarity and her impatience then back
to Clair with Brio first wondering if it was something she did
but assumed this not to be the case.
"Welllll?" Brio played along with the impatience, wishing for
some clarity and turning her head with an exaggerated expectant
       look towards Clair.

Clair stands there confused for a moment before turning his head
back toward Clarity. "What is it that you're waiting for?"
Clarity rolls her eyes, smiling back past him at Brio. "For you
to thank thank Brio, silly! It only seems right and proper!"
"I di-" Clair starts objecting before Clarity interrupts him,
       shaking her head.
"No, silly." She steps up against him and taps his mouth. "Use
       these!"
Clair buzzes his lips for a second. "I did. And I used my lungs,
       and my tongue, and-"
"Nuh-uh. Since you're Claaaairly - teehee- not taking the hint,"
she says (laughing at her own pun), getting behind him and
pushing him closer to Brio, almost right up in her face. "I want
       you to kiiiiiss her!"
All the confusion drops from Clair's demeanor, and he nods. "Oh.
Why didn't you just say so?" Turning his close face back to
Brio, he nods again and gives her a short kiss on the cheek.
"Thank you very much, Brio. I appreciate it a lot."

Ooooooooh, so that's what Clarity had been waiting for. Brio
giggles and presents a cheek to patiently await her third kiss
of the night. Dang, things only just started and she already had
been given three. Brio joked in her mind that this may not be
the end of them tonight and giggled before pecking a quick one
of her own on Clair's cheek and then fluttering back a few steps
       with her wings.
"Feel free to mention it to all the major publications," she
encouraged with a playfully boastful tone, "and if ever you get
plucked away by another big animal or monster you just holler
and I'll be there to lend all four hooves and a wing. Especially
if I'm getting paid in smooches.
"So, we really never actually had a chance to introduce
ourselves proper. We got the names down now, but I never got to
know who it was I saved or anything. Also, I'm going to need an
autograph," Brio started to glance around without specifying
which of the two she was referring to, her patting her coat as
if she somehow had pockets to check and hovering so as to check
beneath her hooves, "I'm sure there's a napkin or a spare piece
       of paper around here somewhere..."

Clair's smile broadens when Brio kisses him, to a "D'aaaww,"
from Clarity. "Oh, that was one of the most adorable things I've
seen. You two have got to do that more often! Maybe not right
now though," she specifies, interrupting Clair from stepping
toward Brio again. She steps up and pats him on his cute little
head. "Autograph, huh? How does my card sound?" Clarity makes a
big show of patting her dress as though looking for a pocket or
something before giving an "Ah! Here we are!" She reaches around
behind Brio's ear. A puff of confetti pops out and she pulls her
hoof back, holding a small, fancy business card proclaiming her
to be the Incomparable Clarity Mirror, Magician Extraordinaire
and Beauty Queen. She also has a pen, which definitely wasn't in
her hoof half a second ago, and she signs the back in a flowing
script before hoofing it over for Brio. "I hope this is to your
       liking.
"And as for who you rescued..." Clarity gives Clair a big ol'
hug and tousles his mane a bit. "This bippity bop top is the
cutest little stallion to live in Ponyville, bar none. I'm
allowed to say that because I'm his sister and because it's
true! Clair wouldn't like me if I was a liar! Probably the
littlest cute stallion who lives there, too. I don't know for
       sure, but I'm pretty confident."

Brio's ear flopped at the confetti and she tilted her head in
confusion before it finally clicked. Magic tricks! and not the
kind that unicorns could pull off with mild effort but the kind
suited for a stage. Sleight of hoof and illusion. Brio gave a
short round of applause after the small tricks and examined the
card with a glimmer of excitement in her eyes. Was Clarity going
to be doing a show here later? The stage seemed open to anyone.
Could Brio get sawed in half later!? She'd always wanted to get
       sawed in half on stage!
"I love magic!" Brio exclaimed, "I mean, like, that kind. The
kind that doesn't involve horns, ya know? Have you ever
hypnotized someone into thinking they were a truck before? Or
did that straight jacket deal where you hang from a tower or get
dunked in a water tank but then reveal that you were in the
crowd the whole time? Can you saw me in half, please!?
"Real pair of celebrities the two of you, eh?" Brio flipped the
card around and found a blank enough spot to fit another small
signature before offering it to Clair by lightly tapping it to
his hoof and giving them both a stoked grin, "can we borrow your
pen real quick, Clarity? I still need his autograph. Did you see
the crowd that was waiting for him when we got back from the
Everfree? He must be a real high-roller in town or at the very
least have a gaggle of groupies if he was voted cutest and
       littlest!"

"My autograph? Um...Clarity?" He knows what an autograph is, of
course, but he's never done one before. He's never even tried
writing his own name. Or writing.
"Here, Clair. Hold out your hoof." Clarity pops the back off of
her pen and takes Clair's hoof, squeezing out some ink onto it.
Pulling out a hoofkerchief from somewhere else within the folds
of her dress, she wipes her hooves clean of ink and instructs
him, "Now just do like you're painting yourself into a picture."
He nods and presses his hoof against the card. It leaves a
hoofprint that covers most of the card and blots out a good
portion of Clarity's signature, but she doesn't seem to mind.
"Here you go, Brio de Mio~" she says, passing the card over and
starting to wipe Clair's hooves clean. "Autograph from the
       cutest."
Clair interrupts with a question. "Was there ever a vote for
       that?"
"No, silly. Though you would have definitely won if there was.
No, that title was an executive decision by yours truly.
Ponyville's Executive in Charge of the Cuteness of Stallions."
Clarity folds and stows her hoofkerchief away again, as well as
her pen, and giggles. "Well, I won't say he's not at least a
little well known, but most ponies know him as my twin brother.
I, however, am known for just the kind of thing you were asking
about," she brags with a giggle. "Half-sawing, hypnotism,
knife-throwing, death-defying...I'm sorry, I'd love to saw you
in half...and I mean that in the best possible way," she adds
with a little blush after realizing how badly that could be
taken, "*ahem* but I'm afraid I didn't bring any of my tools. I
did fill my mane with confetti..." She wiggles her head and some
more confetti pops out. "...but aside from that and an abundance
of knives, I pretty much just brought Clair~"
A nearby stallion dancing with a mare slips and falls on the
confetti on the floor, and Clarity helps him back up and the
       others leave with a "Harrumph!"
